Chapter 158: Chapter 65: The Legacy of the Twin Heroes Endures
"Do you mean, Lady Liliya, that you could transform me into a different race, thus freeing me from the drawbacks of the horned oni race?" Ram asked, understanding that Liliya was suggesting she become a vampire.
No longer part of the oni race, the issue of magical energy leakage due to her horns would be resolved.
"Indeed, you must consider this carefully. However... it's not truly abandoning your identity as an Oni. It's more akin to being of mixed heritage—half-vampire, half-Oni."
Liliya's solution involved transforming herself into the Valkyrie Luna Kindred and infecting Ram with her essence.
This would turn Ram into a being half-Oni, half-Honkai Beast.
In this way, as long as Liliya—or rather, her Valkyrie Luna Kindred form—didn't experience true death, Ram would effectively possess a nearly eternal life.
-
"This..." Ram sank into contemplation.
"Sis..." Rem gazed at Ram, the urge to speak nearly overwhelming. But seeing her sister lost in thought, she held her tongue. Let her decide on her own, she thought, prioritizing Ram's life over her demonic identity.
Besides, it was merely a matter of changing from a pure demon to a half-blooded being. It wasn't as though it was an unacceptable transformation. After all, Ram now sported not even a single horn on her head. In essence, she was no longer one of the demonic race.
-
"Then... I shall leave it to Lady Liliya," Ram said, gazing at Liliya with profound gratitude.
The noble before her had not only saved Ram and her companion's lives but also taken them in. Now, she was going to extraordinary lengths to address Ram's physical ailments.
Ram felt an overwhelming sense of thankfulness towards Liliya and Rosa—gratitude that resonated deep within her heart and soul.
-
"Mm-hmm, since you've made your decision."
Seeing Ram's agreement, Liliya didn't linger on the topic and immediately began channeling Luna Kindred, initiating the transformation.
In an instant, both Liliya and Rozaliya vanished, replaced by the adorable vampire princess Theresa standing before Ram-Rem.
"You... You..." Ram stuttered, gazing at the unfamiliar Theresa before her.
"Are you Lady Liliya?" Ram's reaction was somewhat subdued, as Liliana had provided a brief explanation beforehand. Still, she looked at the completely transformed Theresa with evident confusion.
"My current name is... Theresa. My servant! Come, let the lovely Theresa grant you eternal life!" The moonlit loli approached Ram, revealing the sharp fangs at the corners of her mouth.
Contrary to expectation, Ram and Rem showed no hint of fear upon seeing Theresa's fangs; instead, curiosity flickered in her eyes.
Without further ado, the now-Valkyrie Theresa embraced the pink-haired girl Ram, gently sinking her teeth into her neck.
The moment Theresa's fangs touched her skin, Ram's eyelashes quivered uncontrollably. However, as soon as the bite took hold, Ram instantly relaxed.
For there was no pain, just as she hadn't imagined.
-
"Alright, from now on you'll be a vampire," said Theresa, releasing Ram after infecting her.
Just as she had anticipated, transforming into a vampire stopped the loss of Ram's mana. Without needing to replenish her magic, Ram could now live freely.
"Thank you, Lady Liliya!" Ram hastily expressed her gratitude.
"Now, don't call me Liliya anymore, just call me Theresa! And with this transformation, you should remain like this until tomorrow, so there's no need to worry."
"Also, right now..."
Theresa's expression turned serious.
"Rem, Ram, would you like to become my followers?" Theresa glanced towards the second quest, which involved assembling a team of followers.
With the addition of the Rem and Ram sisters, it would be essentially completed.
"Followers? We would love to," they replied.
"Rem also wishes to follow Liliya... oh... I mean, Lady Theresa."
Hearing this, they didn't hesitate for a moment and immediately agreed.
-
The next day, Theresa switched back to Liliya and Rozaliya.
Upon their appearance, the first thing they did was claim the rewards for the Follower's quest, receiving 300 crystals and 10 Focused Supply Cards.
Holding the supply cards, Rozaliya hesitated for a moment before handing them to Liliya.
Rozaliya felt that Liliya might have better luck than herself.
"No need to use them now! Let's save them for the next world." Liliya, holding the supply cards, decided not to use them immediately. Instead, she stored them in the warehouse.
What if we need them in the next world?
In this world, Rozaliya and Lilya's current strength was already sufficient.
"Alright!"
Rozaliya thought for a moment, then reluctantly agreed to Liliya's decision.
-
In the realm of humanity lay the Cassia Kingdom, often considered a neutral nation. This kingdom maintained an impartial stance towards demihumans and other non-human races, neither actively excluding nor embracing them.
Despite this ambivalence, some xenophobes still made their homes within its borders.
On this particular day, a city near the western border of the Cassia Kingdom was permeated with an air of solemnity and tension.
The reason for this palpable unease was simple: today, a Demon Lord and his horde of demonic beasts would stage an assault on the city, turning it unwittingly into a playground for their brutal game of monster warfare.
In the western reaches of the Cassia Kingdom lay a realm of magic beasts. Within this otherworldly region reigned a Demon Lord, wielding control over countless demonic creatures and magic beasts. Recently, the Demon Lord had inexplicably lost his mind. He sent word to the Cassia Kingdom, declaring his intent to besiege their cities with his demonic horde and ordered them to prepare accordingly.
Naturally, King Kacey couldn't risk taking the Demon Lord's threat lightly. He dispatched substantial forces to the western border and even pleaded for assistance from neighboring allied nations.
In a daring move, he also extended an invitation to the Hero, humanity's champion. The Hero, in an unexpected turn of events, accepted the plea for help, providing Kacey with a measure of relief.
-
Magic beasts are creatures with slightly supernatural abilities, similar to dragons, but generally less powerful. Magic beasts have slightly magical abilities, but they are not intelligent enough to be called monsters. Magic beasts are similar to dragons, but generally less powerful. Magic beasts are creatures with abilities slightly beyond the natural world, akin to dragons but generally of lesser power.
Earlier that morning in the major city near the western border, everyone was holding their breath, their hands clammy with anxiety... as they all waited for the arrival of the demonic army.
"Monsters incoming!"
As the sun began to scorch the earth, an endless horde of monsters arrived at the castle walls.
Soldiers and mages atop the fortress gazed out, weapons at the ready, facing a sea of countless monsters beyond...
The creatures, showing no hesitation, surged forward in attack.
Flying monsters soared upwards, while others charged with ladders or scaled the walls barehanded.
Archers stationed along the ramparts unleashed a torrent of arrows, raining death upon the invaders.
Yet, despite the shower of arrows, few beasts fell to the onslaught.
-
As the demonic hordes began their assault on the city, a terrifying Demon Lord stood not far from its walls. He faced off against a young human, armed with a massive golden shield in one hand and a great knight's sword in the other—an imposing figure.
"Demon Lord Balza, I won't let you take even a single step closer to the city walls." The young man glared at the demon, resisting the urge to convert his mental picture of his opponent into orbs and arrows. His voice was firm, almost resolute.
It was none other than the Hero who had been active all over the continent in recent years.
"Oh, really?" The Demon Lord looked like a demon straight from hell. He had horns on his head, skin as red as blood, and ... enormous bat-like wings on his back. He regarded the Hero with a strange smile and stretched out his right hand.
The air rippled as a dimensional rift opened at his side, and a massive weapon materialized in his hand: a giant Halberd.
"Did you really think I came to destroy a mere city? No, I'm here for you. As I'd hoped, the rumors are true. You're the one who came."
His smile grew wider. "With you, the so-called Hero's blood, I can now open the portal to the other dimension!"
The Demon Lord gripped the halberd tightly... As he spoke, he charged toward the Hero, raising the weapon high. It descended with a aura of destruction.
The Hero's expression shifted as he swiftly raised his golden shield to meet the attack.
The halberd smashed into the shield, sending a force like a mountain crushing down on the Hero's shoulders. Unable to bear the weight, he dropped to one knee, barely managing to hold his ground.
"Not bad! Now continue..." Seeing that his single blow hadn't dispatching the Hero, Demon Lord Balza's expression shifted to one of approval. Without hesitation, he began raining down relentless strikes with his halberd.
The halberd moved so swiftly, it created countless afterimages, as if a legion of halberds descended upon the Hero.
After mere seconds—less than three minutes—the Hero felt his defenses crumble. With a reflexive groan, he expelled a mouthful of blood.
The next strike sent him flying, and he landed hard on the ground, sprawled and winded.
Struggling to his feet, the Hero checked his health bar: a paltry few hundred points remained.
As expected... At level 78, I'm no match for a level 100 Demon Lord, he thought. The Hero hastily uncorked a healing potion and downed it in one gulp, restoring his health to a thousand points.
Gazing upon the Demon Lord before him, with his hundreds of millions of health, the Hero felt a dull ache in his temples.
...I shouldn't have accepted the king's request so hastily, he lamented. I should have focused on grinding for levels first, reached a hundred at least...
But then the Hero recalled the pleading look on the princess's face, and his heart softened despite himself.
As the Demon Lord materialized once again, the Hero swiftly raised his knight's great sword and chose one of his most powerful skills.
"Let the evil be purged by the Judgment Sword!"
With a mighty swing, he summoned an enormous sword of light dozens of meters wide, hurtling towards the approaching Demon Lord.
It struck directly... At first, the Hero's face lit up with glee, but then it froze.
After all this time, is this the extent of your prowess as the Hero? Then there's no reason for you to continue living.
The Demon Lord's voice suddenly reverberated from behind the Hero...
The Demon Lord that had been struck by the sword of light... vanished. It had been a decoy body.
The real Demon Lord had already raised his halberd, aiming for the back of the Hero's skull.
Just as it seemed the Hero would be cut down, a massive sky-blue blade appeared, blocking the attack.
"This Hero may be weak, but he's my target. You can't kill him."
A girl with long light blue hair, horns, and a tail appeared before the Demon Lord, barring his path.
"Who are you..."
Attack thwarted, the Demon Lord hastily retreated... warily eyeing the girl who had suddenly appeared.
"I suppose... I'm a Hero of sorts... Not quite human! So... surrender your life to me!" Holding her great sword, Liliya adopted a defensive stance.
A "Hero of Demi-Humans?" The Demon Lord's expression shifted instantly, his disbelief palpable. "Impossible! A demi-human could never be a Hero!"
"Why not?" Liliya challenged.
"Because... uh, you think I'd reveal my secrets? Wrath of the Demon God!" In a sudden shift, the Demon Lord's halberd seemed to transform into an ancient Demon God, hurtling towards Liliya.
"Look out!" Behind Liliya, the Hero hastily warned, positioning himself to protect the girl before him.
The thought of being saved by such a cute little girl—one with demi-human attributes at that—was already embarrassing enough. The idea of anything more happening was utterly unacceptable.
"It's all right..." Liliya's face remained composed, as if nothing could faze her.
As the Demon God approached Liliya, it was as if she absorbed it whole. The halberd dropped limply to the ground, its power drained.
"What—?"
"Thrusted Slash!"
Seeing his attack had no effect on the girl, the Demon Lord watched in disbelief. Liliya, having neutralized his assault, now charged directly towards him.
With a flash of blue sword light...
...the Demon Lord's head parted from his body.
Liliya returned to her starting point and calmly sheathed her great sword.
-
The strength of a Blueberry Sword Saint, who perfectly graduates with an SSS rank, is truly formidable. Even a powerful Demon Lord can be instantly vanquished with a single strike.
Gazing at the deceased Demon Lord, Liliya glanced down at her own hands.
Earlier, Liliya had been concerned that both the Hero and the Demon Lord might be incredibly strong. To prepare herself, she used 100 "Ai-chan" coins to purchase a limited one-day full-rank Valkyrie experience card.
In today's world, Liliya possessed the perfect strength of an SSS-rank Valkyrie: flawless stigmata and skill attributes.
She never expected that as an SSS-rank Valkyrie, she would be able to kill the Demon Lord with just one swift strike.
-
The Hero behind Liliya was rendered speechless by emotion, his jaw too astonished to close. In his eyes... Only moments ago, a Demon Lord with over hundreds of millions blood points had been wiped out completely in one slash's worth of time by this little girl in front of him.
This... was she still human?
As Liliya turned to look at him, the Hero scrambled to his feet, gazing at her with overwhelming gratitude.
"Many thanks for your assistance. Are you also a Hero?"
Liliya didn't answer his question but instead stared expressionlessly at him and said, "I have something I need to discuss with you."
"What is it?"
"A sparring match!"
"Huh? With you?" The Hero recalled Liliya's instantaneous decimation of the Demon Lord and froze in shock.
"Yes, let's spar!" Liliya raised her great sword, Swan Lake, and pointed it at him.
"Well, perhaps another time. Even though the Demon Lord is dead, there are still many demonic beasts attacking the city, so..." The Hero had no desire whatsoever to fight this terrifying little girl. He suspected even if he was max level, he might not be a match for her.
"Don't worry about that. It's been taken care of already."
"Taken care of?" The Hero looked at Liliya, puzzled.
"Pink hair" appeared beside Liliya. "Liliya, I've already eliminated all the demonic beasts outside the walls."
"Hm, very good! Now can we have our match?" Liliya nodded and once again looked toward the Hero.
"...Is there any way we can not fight? I concede!"
The Hero's mind was entirely in disarray by this point.
"...", Liliya attempted speech, then stopped herself.
"...", Rozaliya went silent as well.
The news of the demihuman twin heroes, Rozaliya and Liliya, who had instantly slain a powerful Demon Lord, causing the human Hero to concede defeat, rapidly spread throughout the human Seven Kingdoms and the Demihuman Kingdom, reaching even other alien races.
Then somehow, word also got out about their previous feats: slaying a zombie dragon and a red dragon; destroying an underground city within an hour; simultaneously defeating a Demon Lord and five undead giant dragons.
And this information began to circulate widely.
At the center of the Demihuman Kingdom's capital city, daily visitors came to pay respects to the statues of the twin heroes.
As for these two Hero protagonists, having completed the final main quest, departed from this world...
The Hero's six followers, knowing that they could be summoned by the Hero at any moment in other worlds, weren't overly saddened.
Instead, they prepared themselves to accompany the two Heroes in battles across different worlds.
(TL Note: And thats volume 3 over with. I gotta say, its probably the most annoying volume I had to translate. Took alot of looking up characters, especially arknights. Those characters were more annoying considering their code names are legit random words. Savage really threw me off...)
(What world and character do you think is up next???)
