HI3: I Don't Want to Be a Valkyrie

Chapter 176: Chapter 18: Fishing Methods

Time had flown by unexpectedly quickly. It felt as though she had only just arrived in this world, yet she had already spent nearly half a year in Yae Village.

Throughout this period, Kallen remained in Yae Village, rarely venturing far from home. Instead, she focused on teaching the Yae sisters.

The girls' progress did not disappoint Kallen; their dedication made her feel that her efforts were entirely worthwhile.

This was the first time Kallen had taught someone so earnestly. Even when she initially instructed Kaede, she wasn't as meticulous as she was now.

The primary reason for this change... Kallen wasn't entirely sure. Perhaps it was because the student was Yae Sakura, and Kallen herself was now Kallen?

Did that subconsciously make her see Yae Sakura as Kallen's girlfriend?

Hmm... That's actually a distinct possibility.

-

"Kallen-nee, are you done changing yet?"

Outside Kallen's room at the Yae Shrine... young Yae Rin tapped on the door and asked.

Since they had been training at the shrine constantly, with occasional breaks to check on village matters and help out, the three of them decided to take a day off and go out for some fun.

However... Yae Sakura suddenly mentioned she had bought quite a bit of fabric recently and had crafted three new traditional Japanese kimonos by hand. She suggested they wear these kimonos for their outing, but Kallen wasn't initially keen on the idea.

But when she saw the pleading, adorable gazes from Yae Sakura and the other girl, her heart softened, and she agreed.

Upon further reflection, even if kimonos were cumbersome, she could still handle most enemies with ease. It wasn't entirely unacceptable.

Moreover... since Yae Sakura made them herself, Kallen had even less reason to object.

Kallen's admiration for Yae Sakura continued to grow. She was a remarkably mature child who had been looking after her younger sister since early on. Now, not only could she cook, but she also had impressive sewing skills – truly impressive.

It's important to remember that at this time, eight-year-old Yae Sakura hadn't even reached her teens.

This little girl, when grown up, would undoubtedly make an excellent wife. She already knew how to cook and sew, and she'd only continue to learn more skills as time went on.

"I'm finished..."

Hearing Yae Rin's voice outside, Kallen opened the door after changing her clothes. There, waiting just beyond the threshold, stood Yae Rin.

She wore a tiny red kimono, looking absolutely adorable, like a little angel. Reminiscent of those charming anime girls, she radiated cuteness in spades.

Yae Rin had pink hair, just like Yae Sakura, but her style was different—a pair of pigtails with a natural curl that added to her attractiveness.

"Rin, you look surprisingly cute today!" Kallen couldn't help exclaiming as her eyes lit up at the sight of Yae Rin.

"Kallen-nee, you're the one who's lovely... You look stunning in that kimono! Absolutely beautiful!" The moment Kallen opened the door, Yae Rin, captivated by her sister's kimono-clad elegance, was struck by her stunning appearance.

She never expected Kallen in a traditional Japanese outfit to look so cute. Her usual European charm transformed completely; today, Kallen looked like a princess straight from a Japanese fairy tale.

The white kimono with snowflakes patterned on it fit Kallen perfectly, without any awkwardness one might expect from a European wearing such clothes. She wore it as flawlessly as if it were custom-tailored for her.

One could say... Kallen is simply a walking fashion statement. No matter what she wears, she looks stunning. Her long white hair complemented the white kimono, making her appear like a snow princess from a fairytale.

"Alright, alright, I know I'm cute now! Where's Sakura?" Kallen took small, graceful steps as she walked out... After closing the door behind her, she asked Yae Rin.

"Sis is preparing the ingredients. Since we won't be returning home for lunch, everything needs to be ready," Yae Rin replied promptly.

"Ah, how thoughtful of Sakura," Kallen said, momentarily taken aback before breaking into a smile hearing Rin's comment.

Even as a young girl, Sakura was always incredibly reliable!

-

As Kallen and Yae Rin waited in the great hall for Yae Sakura to arrive, Kallen finally got a glimpse of her. Dressed in a pink kimono, she looked incredibly gentle and virtuous—the epitome of the ideal wife...

Even though at this age, Yae Sakura was still a young girl.

"Sakura, come here quickly." Kallen beckoned to Yae Sakura, who stood before them

"Kallen-nee, Rin..." Upon hearing their names, Yae Sakura hastily grabbed her luggage and jogged over.

"Sakura, you're absolutely adorable! Let me help you with those!" As Yae Sakura approached, Kallen first complimented her, then reached for the luggage in her hands, eager to assist.

"No need, Kallen-nee, I've got it!" Yae Sakura swiftly declined Kallen's offer.

"..."

Watching Yae Sakura's actions, Kallen thought for a moment, then decided against pressing the matter.

-

After packing their belongings, the trio exited the shrine, carefully locking the doors and windows before leaving the Yae Shrine behind.

This time, they had no plans to venture far, opting instead to explore the picturesque surroundings near Yae Village.

-

The road ahead...

After leaving the village, the group struggled to walk on the dirt roads in their traditional Japanese garments. The narrow paths made it difficult to move quickly or comfortably.

The clothes were also extremely prone to getting dirty.

At this point, Yae Sakura began to regret coming dressed in such attire. However... Kallen didn't say another word about it.

Since they had already come so far, they decided not to waste any more time going back and continued walking together.

They soon arrived at a river no more than three meters wide. The trio chose a slightly wider and flatter spot along the river and stopped. It appeared mostly clean and safe to settle down.

More importantly... there were several bamboo groves nearby.

"It's almost noon. Why don't we eat here?" Yae gazed at the flowing river before them, knowing that water was essential for preparing any meal outside.

"That sounds perfect! I'll check if there are any fish in the river. Plus, we can use the bamboo to make some delicious bamboo rice."

Looking at the small river and surrounding bamboo grove, it indeed seemed like an ideal spot for a wilderness picnic.

-

Though the river was small, it teemed with fish, especially carp...

When Kallen tossed a cross-shaped device into the stream, countless carp and grass carp floated to the surface, stunned by the electric shock.

The sisters Yae Sakura were rendered speechless by Kallen's fishing method. It was... rather brutal.

After retrieving the Lightning Angel, Kallen removed her shoes and socks, pulled up the hem of her kimono, and waded into the shallow river to collect the fish.

The water barely reached Kallen's knees.

Watching Kallen gather the fish, Yae Rin's interest piqued, and she too slipped into the river to join the catch.
