Hi3rd: Achievement Hunter

Chapter 173: Chapter 171: Letter

"Yawn…"

Aleph intently read the contents of the electronic tablet in his grasp.

[Magic Fundamentals—Part One]

His reading speed was very fast. He only stayed on a page for a second as he continuously tapped the right side edge of the tablet.

[Basic Magic Systems]

[Complete Exploration to Eidos]

[Building Blocks of Magic Computation]

The more he read its contents, the more his jaw dropped. All of the contents inside this tablet contained a whole other world's power system.

He stopped reading once he finished reading one hundred e-books.

'I'm sure of it. My elemental sight has to belong to this world.'

Aleph recalled the achievements he got during the seventh eruption.

[Achievement Unlocked: Isn't the Superhero Landing Too Effective?]

[Isn't the Superhero Landing Too Effective: Defeat a formidable foe with a basic landing.]

[Achievement Unlocked: Nuh Uh]

[Nuh Uh: Prevent a Herrscher Core Cascade for the first time.]

[Achievement Unlocked: Now You See Me, Two]

[Now You See Me, Two: Face an enemy who escaped under your grasp for the second time.]

[Achievement Unlocked: Greater Mass, Greater Attraction]

[Greater Mass, Greater Attraction: Defeat a formidable foe using a black hole for the first time.]

A total of four major achievements greeted his sight today. The rewards they gave to him surpassed what he earned in the past three months.

[Perfect Energy Box]

[Noble Phantasm: Avalon (One-time Use)]

[Third High School's Virtual Library]

[Star of Eden — Replica]

Firstly, the Perfect Energy Box increased his energy units by 844. His current strength reached 19,403.

Next was yet another one-time use Noble Phantasm. Aleph knew it was the sheath of the Holy Sword, Excalibur. One day, he would definitely use it.

Thirdly, there was the 'Star of Eden'. When it came out, he was extremely surprised. Though it was a replica, it was a weapon used by the First Herrscher of the Current Era, Welt Yang.

Finally, there was the Virtual Library of an organization called 'Third High School'.

Aleph spent his time planning for the two things above at first. Only now did he realize his mistake.

The knowledge stored inside this tablet is very precious. It detailed information on "Magic", "Eidos", "Magic Calculation Area", and the likes. They are presented in a way only college graduates of this world would understand.

'Psion and Pushions… They even have a complete classification for that.'

Understandably, there are many differences between this world and the one where 'Third High School' came from. For example, the magicians of that world have a 'Magic Calculation Area' that affects the information dimension, in turn altering the physical world.

Aleph had a feeling that the 'Magic Calculation Area' is limited to inhabitants of that world alone.

It was akin to a canvas and a set of tools. The similarities between the two worlds could be considered as the canvas, but the way they operate, their power systems, and method of altering physics differ, hence them being two different sets of tools.

Still…

'I think I can do this..? Great Sage.'

{Compiling plausibility reports…}

It took a while before Aleph received a reply from it.

{Results: The supernatural power [Elemental Sight] is not designated as a skill. It has a compatibility rate of 99.99% to the simulated magic system. It has a progressive coefficient of 93.44%, surpassing the previous scanned data under the topic 'Magic'.}

Great Sage pertained to the previously scanned Bounded Fields and the likes of Ryuudou Temple. The progressive coefficient is the 'potential' of a power system despite the possible roadblocks.

The Age of God Bounded Fields from Medea garnered a progressive coefficient of 65.9%. The main reason behind it was the roadblock known as 'mysteries'.

'Why do I have a feeling that Great Sage is built exactly for this..?' He thought. 'Automatic spellcaster, then my elemental sight. As long as I could interact with that Psion, or at least be able to use other types of energy for it…'

Aleph's enemies remained unaware of the cataclysmic disaster they had to face.

*****

{"....3:41 PM, Sydney, Australia, experienced a major honkai eruption. Consequently, at 3:45 PM, four major eruptions occurred at the cities: Chongqing…"}

The voices from the radio's casters rang inside the small and worn-down office. The 'Ninth Hospital' in their city used to be the biggest public general hospital. As such, it was the first to be struck when the honkai eruption came. It was the first place to be overrun by the undeads.

Only when Fire MOTH cleared out the entire city did it resume its usual operations. The one big difference, however, was the presence of numerous refugees from other cities—continents, even.

The gray-haired man was one of the people who ended up here.

"Forty million deaths…"

The official reports sent out by Fire MOTH chilled everyone inside the office. The middle-aged man whose white hair was combed back maintained his calm attitude.

"It's an optimistic report."

"Doctor?"

The gray-haired man, Su, sent him a bewildered look.

"There are five cities. The one from Australia… Sydney, they have a huge concert, right?"

"Miss Eden's concert."

Su was more than familiar with Eden to track recent news related to her.

"Even if, say, Sir Aleph quells a major eruption, it's only one city. There's still four of them left." The veteran doctor explained. "If they could not contain it, one city would be equal to Nagazora City."

"..."

His words were clear. The situation was, in no way, as optimistic as the one stated to the public. Forty million deaths were chilling enough, yet the thought that it doesn't end there struck Su hard.

"Have you made up your mind? Those at Fire MOTH already extended an invitation to you."

"Not yet." Su shook his head. "I still want to give it a try."

Hearing this, his mentor sighed. Their Ninth Hospital has been a hotspot of those who were infected by honkai corruption. They were sent some supplies by the Fire MOTH, but it was both he and his mentor who managed to work things out.

Although they haven't discovered the said 'cure', the optimal doses, similar cases, and the likes could be applied to their current patients.

"Ainsworth…"

Just as Su thought of his good friend, a knock came from the office's door. The one who opened it was a man in a black suit. His shoulder-length hair and tattoo on his neck was recognizable by every staff member in this building.

"Greetings, doctor, as well as Mister Su."

"Mister Long. What brings you here?"

The Fire MOTH agent, Long, cleared out his throat.

"It's a serious case. Mister Su, you are being summoned to the headquarters."

"Hm..?"

"Several higher-ups requested your presence."

Along with these words was a written letter in a sealed envelope.

Su opened it and found an official document signed by a Fire MOTH official…

["...Third Institute's Assistant Director…"]

"...Ainsworth."
