Chapter 40: Chapter 40: Are You Sure There’s No Mistake?

The woman’s eyes had slight wrinkles at the corners, indicating she was likely over forty years old.

Noticing someone tugging at her sleeve, she turned around and saw the well-behaved, pretty girl in front of her, her stern face breaking into a slight smile.

“Hello?”

Qiao Yun looked up at her, “Are you the vice-principal of Shengyang High School?”

“Yes, what can I do for you?” He Wan responded crisply.

The Lu Family couple exchanged glances, puzzled by Qiao Yun’s actions.

Jingzhi furrowed his brows, unsure of what Qiao Yun was up to. Was she trying to curry favor with He Wan to secure a spot at Shengyang High School?

It was too far-fetched and reckless.

Jingzhi stepped forward, his eyes apologetically saying, “This is my younger sister, she has always admired Shengyang, which is why she’s so excited to see you.”

He Wan’s smile faded slightly, she had heard that the Lu Family had found their biological daughter.

Was she now approaching her to try and secure a position through connections?

The just vice-principal declared that pulling strings was impossible in her lifetime.

Su Mian grasped Qiao Yun’s hand, “Qiaoqiao, there are desserts over there, I prepared them especially for you, go try them and see if they’re good…

“I’ll eat them later.”

Qiao Yun interrupted Su Mian, politely extending a hand, “I’m Qiao Yun, and I’ll also be a student at Shengyang High School when the term starts.”

Lu Ting’s eyes lowered, her lips curling into a sneer.

Now Qiao Yun had really lost face, as the vice-principal most despised those who eagerly groveled, with their sanctimonious attitudes.

Lu Rui frowned, telling He Wan, “In fact, this child has always wanted to attend Shengyang, she truly loves it here.”

The people of the Lu Family, apart from Lu Ting, felt somewhat embarrassed; they hadn’t realized Qiao Yun was so attached to Shengyang.

He Wan seemed thoughtful and after a while, she smiled, her eyes and brows expressive as she extended a hand.

“So you are Qiao Yun. Welcome to Shengyang High School.”

Lu Ting: ????

Su Mian was completely stunned, swiftly looking first at the calmly composed Qiao Yun and then at the usually stern, now kindly smiling vice-principal.

She couldn’t believe what was happening.

Lu Rui now felt like going back to his study to delete the information about other schools he had gathered with a single click.

It turned out Qiaoqiao’s insistence on going to Shengyang wasn’t due to overconfidence.

Jingzhi was both shocked and skeptical about what He Wan had said.

Lu Ting’s expression stiffened slightly, and she was the first to speak, “Vice-principal, are you sure this isn’t a mistake?”

“How could I make a mistake about such a thing.”

He Wan’s eyes showed undisguised admiration for Qiao Yun, “By senior year, it’s unusual for the school to accept transfer students, but Qiao Yun is an exception, and naturally, I remember her well.”

Scoring full marks in the entrance examination was hardly forgettable.

“Haha, so that’s how it is.” Lu Ting’s voice trembled slightly at the end.

Furious.

The Lu Family couple was ecstatic, Qiaoqiao’s dream had come true!

Jingzhi’s expression grew slightly complex, his gaze landing on Qiao Yun’s composed face, suddenly feeling somewhat at a loss.

He Wan, thinking the Lu Family knew about Qiao Yun’s excellent achievement, praised her a few more times, “I look forward to you bringing honor to Shengyang High School.”

Qiao Yun nodded, “I will.”

The Lu Family couple and Jingzhi had a lot they wanted to say to Qiao Yun, but the current setting was not appropriate, so they remained silent.

Qiao Yun didn’t linger for long, since her goal had already been achieved, and the Lu Family wouldn’t have to worry about where she would go to school anymore.

When Qiao Yun returned from He Wan, Li Miao was almost bursting with laughter, “Lu Ting and her crew must be seething, they mocked you for not having the qualifications to enter Shengyang, and then the vice-principal personally proved them wrong, hahaha, it’s hilarious.”
