Chapter 11: Chapter 10: The Gift of the Gods
Kenji stood before a massive wooden door, its surface carved with intricate symbols.
This was the home of Hephaestus, the Goddess of Blacksmithing.
Kenji exhaled. "This is where Hestia's friend lives?"
Before he could think further—
"My dear friend! I'm back!"
Hestia marched up to the door, knocking loudly.
A few seconds later, the door creaked open, revealing a tall woman with long crimson hair and an eyepatch over one eye.
Her sharp gaze landed on Hestia immediately.
"Hestia."
Her voice was calm but firm.
"Didn't I tell you to go out and find your own Familia?"
She crossed her arms. "I won't let you mooch off me forever. You're a Goddess. Act like one."
Kenji blinked. "Wow. She's blunt."
Hestia pouted. "But that's why I'm here!"
She grabbed Kenji's arm, pulling him forward.
"Look! I found a super cute child for my Familia!"
She grinned proudly, as if expecting Hephaestus to praise her.
Hephaestus raised an eyebrow—then turned her gaze to Kenji.
She examined him silently.
Kenji remained calm, offering a polite smile.
Hestia continued, hugging his arm tightly.
"This is Kenji! I met him on the street, and he agreed to join my Familia!"
Her grip tightened slightly, as if afraid he might suddenly run away.
Kenji sighed. "I'm not going to run, you know."
Hestia ignored him.
Hephaestus studied him carefully, then spoke.
"Kenji, you're making a risky choice."
She adjusted her eyepatch slightly.
"Hestia's Familia is… well, non-existent. If you were to join a stronger Familia, you'd have access to better resources, stronger allies, and a much safer future."
Hestia flinched.
"W-Wait, Hephaestus! Don't say it like that!"
But Hephaestus wasn't done.
Her sharp gaze met Kenji's. "If you join her, you'll be walking a difficult path. Are you sure about this?"
Kenji chuckled.
"Yeah. I know what I'm getting into."
He glanced at Hestia, who looked up at him with wide, hopeful eyes.
"I don't mind a little struggle."
Then—he smirked.
"Besides, I think we'll get along just fine."
Hestia's eyes shimmered with emotion.
"Kenji…"
Hephaestus watched him for a moment—then sighed.
"I see. In that case, I won't say any more."
A small smile formed on her lips. "Hestia… you finally found someone who believes in you."
Hestia beamed.
"Of course! My Familia is going to be the best in all of Orario!"
Kenji chuckled. "Well, we've got a long way to go, but sure."

The Ritual Begins
After getting Hephaestus's approval, Hestia dragged Kenji to her temporary room.
The moment they entered—
"Take off your shirt."
Kenji froze.
"…Excuse me?"
Hestia crossed her arms. "Take it off. I need to put the Falna on your back."
Kenji knew this was part of the process—but still.
"Can you not say it so bluntly?"
Hestia tilted her head. "Why? Feeling embarrassed?"
She smirked. "I mean… if it's you, I wouldn't mind, you know?"
Kenji's eye twitched. "Not funny."
Resigning himself, he removed his shirt and lay down on the bed.
A faint sweet scent lingered on the sheets.
"This must be where she sleeps…"
Hestia sat beside him, her playful expression vanishing.
For the first time since he met her—she looked serious.
She bit her finger, drawing a single drop of divine blood.
The moment the blood touched Kenji's back—
Heat surged through his body.
It wasn't painful—but it felt like something deep inside him was changing.
His vision blurred for a moment, and then—
A faint glow appeared on his back, forming the symbol of the Hestia Familia.
Hestia studied it carefully, her fingers tracing the markings.
