Highschool DxD: Damn, I'm OP as Fuck!

Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Leap Forward

The current situation was far too chaotic for anyone to take lightly. A god had fallen—an event so unbelievable that it shook the very foundations of the world.

But what happened next had nothing to do with Kenji. While many teams were out of town, he had just arrived.

They had unknowingly crossed paths, yet neither side had seen the other.

As Kenji stepped into the town, he removed the windbreaker that had covered most of his face and made his way straight to the familia's quarters.

The moment he entered the hall, Hestia, who had been bustling around, immediately rushed over to him.

It turned out that they were moving to the Apollo Familia's former mansion the next day. Hestia and Liliruca were busy packing up, which meant that neither of them had witnessed the strange sight of the "blood rain" outside.

The sound of thunder rumbled through the sky, but to them, it was just another stormy night.

After catching Hestia as she practically jumped onto him, Kenji glanced at Bell and Liliruca, who were still busy packing. Without hesitation, he joined in.

Even though there weren't too many belongings, some things were better packed personally.

The night passed in a flurry of movement, and by the next day, the four of them had successfully moved into their new home—the former residence of Apollo Familia.

As they looked around at their new surroundings, Hestia and the others couldn't hide their excitement.

Even Kenji had to admit—this was impressive. The transformation of the entire manor had been completed in an absurdly short time, all thanks to the skills of a godly construction familia.

Previously, the entire villa had been filled with Apollo's narcissistic influence, with statues of himself at every turn. Since many parts of the mansion didn't suit Hestia and the others, Kenji had hired a familia specializing in construction to remodel the place.

Now, everything was customized to their preferences.

After the initial excitement settled, they spent the rest of the day organizing the mansion. By the time they were done, night had fallen again.

Moving was more exhausting than expected—even for adventurers.

After dinner, Kenji suddenly turned to Hestia.

"Hestia, update my status again."

Hearing this, Hestia was surprised. Kenji hadn't been in the dungeon much lately, so she found his request odd. However, she didn't question it and simply nodded.

They moved to his room, where Kenji removed his shirt and lay down, well-practiced in the process.

Hestia pricked her index finger, and a drop of crimson blood dripped onto his back.

And then—

"This... This is…!?"

Her eyes widened in shock.

Hestia straddled Kenji's back, staring at the status update in disbelief.

It was something beyond reason.

"A-Are you serious?!" Hestia stammered. "Kenji… what in the world did you do?"

There was worry in her voice—she feared he had done something reckless.

"It's nothing," Kenji said casually, looking at her calm yet concerned expression. He reached up, brushing her head gently. "I just killed someone disgusting."

Of course, he wasn't lying. But he also wasn't going to tell her the full truth.

After all, in a city ruled by gods, the fewer people who knew he had slain one, the better.

Some adventurers possessed unique abilities that could expose secrets, and that was a risk he wasn't willing to take.

"I may have to leave for a while, Hestia."

Kenji's voice broke the silence.

Hestia, who had been pouting at his vague response earlier, suddenly froze.

"Leave? What do you mean?" she asked, her expression changing. "Are you homesick? Do you want to go back for a visit?"

To her, it seemed like he'd be gone for only a few days at most.

But Kenji shook his head.

"It's time to go home," he said solemnly. "Didn't you always want to know where I came from?"

Hestia's breath hitched.

Kenji continued. "The truth is, I'm not from this world."

At first, Hestia thought he was joking. But as she met his gaze—steady, unwavering—she realized he was serious.

It was absurd. Ridiculous.

Yet she could tell it was the truth.

Her heart grew heavy.

"But don't worry," Kenji reassured her. "I'll return. No matter what happens, I'll find my way back here."

Hestia's fingers clenched around the fabric of his shirt. She stared at him for a long moment before finally whispering—

"Kenji… love me."

Her voice trembled slightly.

Then, without another word, she wrapped her arms around him.

And pulled him down with her. (🌚)

---

By the time Kenji woke up, the sun was already high in the sky.

Beside him, Hestia lay fast asleep, her face peaceful despite the dried tears at the corners of her eyes.

A complicated emotion flickered through Kenji's heart.

But in the end, it turned into determination.

Quietly, he dressed, pulled the blanket over Hestia, and left the room.

By midday, he found himself standing atop the city wall of Orario, gazing into the vast horizon.

The wind was cool against his skin.

Kenji took a deep breath and asked the system, "If I return to my world, can I come back here?"

The answer came swiftly.

> "Host, please rest assured."

"Any world you have traveled to can be revisited at any time."

"Additionally, once you leave, the time ratio between this world and your main world will be adjusted to 1:1000."

"For every 1000 days that pass in your world, only a single day will pass here."

Kenji's lips curled into a relieved smile.

This was good.

This meant that, no matter how long he was gone… for them, it would only be a blink of an eye.

And with that reassurance, his resolve was set.

His journey was far from over.

He would return.

No matter what.
