Chapter 22: 22
Harry happened to be standing at the very back of the crowd. Facing the sudden mouth of the abyss, Harry was a little confused for a moment. The foul breath sprayed on Harry's face, making him almost nauseous. Just as the feeling of despair spread throughout his body, Ivan's voice suddenly sounded in Harry's ears. "There are so many obstacles!" Invisible barriers blocked the three-headed dog's ferocious head in mid-air, but the next second, the barrier that Ivan maintained and constructed with magic power was torn to pieces by another big mouth with fangs! Fortunately, in just a second, Harry reacted in time and barely escaped. After Ron shouted "Run!", he rushed to the door and pulled hard with both hands a few times, only to find that the door was locked. "Which bastard locked the door!" Ron said in despair. Ivan, who had temporarily restrained the three-headed dog with a stun spell and a petrification spell, couldn't help but roll his eyes. Didn't you lock the door yourself? Ron panicked and even suspected that he might die here, but Hermione pushed him away and put her wand on the door lock. "Alaho hole open!" Hermione cast an unlocking spell to violently break the door lock, and the group of five people escaped as quickly as possible, then closed the door again in time before the three-headed dog Fluffy came out. Bang...bang bang! After they were far away, they heard the faint sounds of banging on doors and roaring in the distance. The few people who had escaped death breathed a sigh of relief, especially Ivan who was inexplicably dragged into this. When he was trying to restrain the three-headed dog Fluffy before, Ivan found that his magic level was too low and had limited effect. The stun spell he cast could only affect the three-headed dog's movements at most, but it would not bring it down at all. If Hermione had opened the door a little later, he might have been killed. After all, there was no place to maneuver or hide in such a small space. This also made Ivan deeply understand his own weakness. It might be easy for him to deal with a first-year wizard like Malfoy, but he didn't even have the ability to struggle when facing real danger. "Is that monster going to break down the door and run out?" Ron looked at the door behind him that was still not still, and then complained again. "No, this door must be special, otherwise it would have broken long ago." Ivan explained. "How could Professor Dumbledore keep such a monster in the castle?" Harry was also a little frightened. He never thought that he would meet such a horrible thing in Hogwarts and was almost eaten by it! Hermione reminded unhappily. "I think you should remember that when we first entered school, Dumbledore told us that we shouldn't come here. If we hadn't violated school rules and come out in the middle of the night, we wouldn't have run into here in a panic!" Perhaps because she had just escaped death, Hermione's tone was much sharper than usual. As soon as Harry and Ron heard this, they knew that Hermione was going to start another long speech, and Neville almost cried. Who would have thought that after venting her anger, Hermione had no intention of complaining. Instead, she revealed that she had seen a trapdoor under the three-headed dog, and her suspicion that the three-headed dog was guarding something. However, before leaving, Hermione still warned Harry and others that no matter what was underneath, it had nothing to do with them, and this was something Professor Dumbledore should consider! Hermione's attitude made Harry and the others a little confused, but fortunately, Hermione would most likely not tell Professor McGonagall that they had violated the school rules tonight. "I didn't expect Malfoy to be so insidious. He must have told Filch about what happened in the trophy room!" Ron was still a little angry when he returned to the dormitory, and threatened to beat Malfoy up tomorrow. "Ivan, we should have listened to you earlier." Harry said a little embarrassedly. After all, Ivan had already mentioned this possibility to them in the afternoon. "Forget it." Ivan waved his hand, indicating that he didn't care. After all, he never expected Harry and Ron to resist the temptation and stay in the dormitory obediently. It was just his bad luck to run into them halfway this time. "By the way, Ivan, why were you in the corridor just now?" Harry asked curiously. "I just came to see you." Ivan said perfunctorily. He couldn't say that he sneaked into the restricted area to read in the middle of the night and even accidentally caught Madam Pince masturbating, right? Harry and the others felt even more ashamed, but this emotion did not last for a few minutes before they put it aside and started discussing the trapdoor guarded by the three-headed dog, guessing what was hidden inside... Finally, Harry told them about how he and Hagrid had taken a package out of Gringotts before school started. Ivan did not participate in it. Apart from Madam Pince's affairs, the challenge task that had just been activated was enough to give him a headache. He had no interest in interfering with Dumbledore's layout. The only thing to be thankful for is that there is still some time before Halloween when trolls appear, so he still has some time to prepare.
In the next week or two, Ivan worked hard to improve his strength, and spent the rest of the time frantically searching for books about trolls in the library while trying to avoid Madam Pince. Fortunately, Madam Pince did not take the initiative to find Ivan during this period. "Detailed Explanation of Common Magical Creatures" ... "Guide to Taming Dangerous Monsters" ... "On the Possibility of Hybridization between Giants and Trolls" ... Even the book "Walking with Trolls" was found by Ivan. That's right, the author of this book is Gilderoy Lockhart, who will replace Quirrell in teaching the Defense Against the Dark Arts class next semester. Although Ivan knew that Lockhart was a liar who only knew how to cast the Forgetfulness Spell, this did not affect the authenticity and professionalism of the content of the book, which is why he was able to find it in the Hogwarts library. To be honest, after seeing Lockhart's iconic smile with white teeth on the cover, Ivan didn't want to open it. But who can blame the contents of the previous books for not being very reliable? The "Detailed Explanation of Common Magical Creatures" only mentioned that the giant monster had no medicinal value, and that nothing from the brain to the torso tasted good after being put into the pot... The description of giant monsters in "The Taming Guide of Dangerous Monsters" is that wizards can usually use more powerful forces to make them submit... Isn't this fucking bullshit? If he had the ability to defeat the troll, why would he come here to read books? The book "On the Possibility of Hybridization between Giants and Trolls" used academic methods with both pictures and texts that made Ivan feel so uncomfortable. On the contrary, "Running with Trolls" uses a biographical narrative to provide a detailed introduction to the habits and weaknesses of trolls. For example, giant monsters usually have low IQs, but they have big appetites and eat everything. So if you want to deal with them, placing bait is the correct choice. There is a high probability that the giant monster will eat the bait. Also, the troll's tiny head and huge body make the overall stability weak. If you use a powerful spell to hit the troll's legs, you may be able to destroy the balance and knock the troll down, allowing you to run a few more steps before being eaten... Finally, the troll's head itself is a weak point, much more fragile than other parts of the body. If it is hit by gravity, it is likely to fall into a coma.
