HOGWARTS - HARRY

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Magical Creatures – Dark Shadows

In the wizarding world, there are three Unforgivable Curses, known as the most evil, vicious, and cruel spells.

These are the Cruciatus Curse, the Killing Curse, and the Imperius Curse.

The nature of these three spells is extraordinary. First, there is no counter-curse to break them. Second, casting them requires immense magical power and deep negative emotions.

Like most dark magic, these spells gradually corrupt the caster's mind, eroding their true nature.

For this reason, the laws of the wizarding world strictly prohibit their use. Anyone caught using these curses is sentenced to a lifetime in Azkaban.

Dylan was stunned. He never expected the three random maximum-level spells he received would be Unforgivable Curses.

"Calm down, Dylan. Spells are just tools, even the Unforgivable Curses," he muttered to himself, patting his cheeks.

At least, he thought, he could protect himself. They say the best defense is a strong offense. While he didn't receive the Warding of Heroes spell, the Unforgivable Curses weren't entirely useless.

After convincing himself, Dylan finally calmed down and turned his attention back to the system panel in front of him.

Aside from the three maximum-level spells, he had another reward waiting—a free magical creature.

"God, Voldemort, please let it be something cute. It doesn't need to be powerful, just not some terrifying monster. I don't need a phoenix or a unicorn—just don't let it look like Gargamel!"

Perhaps Voldemort had heard his plea.

In an instant, a bright light flashed.

Dylan felt the space in front of him twist and warp.

A small creature leaped out of the void.

It looked like a black cat but had the elegance of a lynx.

Its fur was deep midnight black, so dark that it seemed to absorb all light.

Dylan blinked. Then, everything went dark again.

Although the creature resembled a kitten, it wasn't adorable. It had a sleek and mysterious aura, radiating a quiet intensity.

Its piercing black eyes held a strange, ominous gleam.

"Moo~"

The little creature's paws were hidden beneath its thick fur as it stared intently at Dylan.

[Notification]: You have obtained the magical pet – Wuying!

[Notification]: Your pet space has been unlocked!

"Black Shadow?"

Dylan glanced at the system panel, which displayed a detailed introduction to the creature.

After reading, he let out a relieved sigh.

"At least it's not some forbidden magical beast. If I wanted to keep it openly, I'd need a breeding license, or else it would be illegal."

Luckily, the system provided him with a pet space, meaning he could store Wuying there whenever needed, rather than keeping it by his side at all times.

"Moo!"

The little creature's cry grew louder, as if trying to tell Dylan something.

Strangely, Dylan felt a vague sense of what it was trying to communicate.

"You want me to hold you?"

The little black shadow lifted its head.

"Moo!"

Oh, was it a bit of a tsundere?

And why did it sound like it was mooing?

Dylan reached out and gently picked up the small creature.

"Little guy, since you're my pet now, how about I give you a name?"

The black shadow curled up its legs, gazing at Dylan without moving.

"You're sleek and handsome, covered in black fur… I'll call you—"

"Coal Ball! What do you think?"

"Moo?!"

Little Wuying bared its teeth.

Dylan chuckled. Since the creature didn't object, he took that as acceptance. Rubbing its fur, he grinned.

"I'm glad you like it! Now, I need to take care of some things, so you should stay in the pet space for now."

"Moo??"

Dylan placed Wuying into the pet space.

He sensed that the space functioned similarly to a Poké Ball—the pet wouldn't feel discomfort inside and wouldn't even notice the passage of time.

"I wonder if the pet space can be upgraded in the future, allowing Wuying to move around freely in the real world."

This thought lingered in Dylan's mind as he began contemplating a trip to Diagon Alley.

He needed to find out how to apply for a breeding license for Wuying.

After all, this was his first pet. He couldn't just hide it away like some forbidden secret.

"School hasn't even started yet, and I'm already dealing with legal issues," he sighed.

Receiving the Hogwarts Letter

After organizing his thoughts, Dylan carefully rechecked his Hogwarts acceptance letter, going over the attached list of school supplies.

Satisfied, he placed the two pieces of parchment into an envelope and left the basement.

"Mom! Dad! I have something important to tell you!"

After freshening up, Dylan sat with his parents at the dining table and explained everything about Hogwarts.

His mother, Maeve, looked at the letter with skepticism.

"Hubert, can you believe this? Magic? Really?" she asked.

His father, Hubert, picked up the parchment, frowning as he examined it.

"My dear, it does seem unbelievable, but Dylan has always been an honest child."

"Are you saying this is some prank from his friends?" Maeve asked, still doubtful.

"Mom, you know I don't have many friends," Dylan reminded her softly.

Maeve and Hubert exchanged glances.

Could their son have fallen for some elaborate scam?

Dylan could use magic to prove the truth to them, but he didn't want to rush things.

He was still young and didn't want his story to feel like some clichéd Harry Potter script.

Even though his family wasn't wealthy, his parents loved him deeply.

"Well, Dad, maybe I could reply to the letter? Just in case it's real?" Dylan asked with hopeful eyes.

Hubert flicked the parchment with his fingers, his frown deepening.

"Magic, huh?"

Maeve sighed.

"Alright, baby, you can send a reply. But you must not go with anyone if they show up, understood?" she said sternly.

"Of course!" Dylan agreed without hesitation.

Waiting for the Owl

That evening, since it was a day off, Dylan's parents watched him carefully write his response.

Seeing their son's serious expression, they decided not to say anything further.

After all, he was just a child. It was natural for him to be curious about unusual things.

There was no harm in sending a letter, so they didn't stop him.

Once Dylan finished writing, he placed the envelope on the window sill in the living room.

A whole day passed, yet no owl arrived.

"Don't be sad, baby. Maybe Santa Claus will bring you magical gifts at Christmas," Maeve comforted him.

Dylan froze.

"Huh? Santa Claus?"

What month was it again?

Mom, why are you already talking about Christmas?
