HOGWARTS - HARRY

Chapter 23: chapter 23

"By the way, Hagrid," Harry looked at Hagrid again and asked, "I heard from Malfoy and the others that Gringotts was invaded. It happened on the same day we went to Diagon Alley to buy supplies."

Hagrid hesitated even more at this, his expression stiffening.

Seeing this, Dylan stood up. "It's getting late. Let's go back first. I think Hagrid will be leaving soon to patrol the Forbidden Forest."

Hagrid was stunned for a moment but then nodded repeatedly. "Yes, I have to go around the Forbidden Forest."

Harry paused, then stood up. "Okay, then we'll go back first."

Hagrid followed them out of the house, and after seeing them off, he turned and walked toward the Forbidden Forest.

Harry looked worried as they walked back.

Dylan had some vague memories of the attack on Gringotts.

"Was it the Philosopher's Stone?"

He vaguely recalled that the Philosopher's Stone had been locked in Gringotts before.

Gringotts was suddenly attacked on the day Harry went to Diagon Alley. It was probably because Hagrid had taken out the Philosopher's Stone, and someone had set their sights on it.

Thinking through the key points, Dylan didn't react much.

"Philosopher's Stone or not, Voldemort will still be defeated in the end, right?"

He didn't really care about these things. In fact, he had only just heard about the attack from Harry.

"Malfoy really loves Harry. He tells him everything."

He sighed internally and shook his head.

Instead of focusing on participating in the plot, wouldn't it be better to learn more spells and master them to the highest level?

"Voldemort might not even match my Dark Curse level."

Dylan's thoughts wandered.

Harry suddenly asked, "Dylan, why do you think someone would attack Gringotts?"

Dylan blinked. "Because Gringotts is easy to bully?"

"Huh?" Harry was stunned.

Dylan smiled. "Why else? Isn't the most valuable thing in Gringotts the money and treasures hidden inside?"

"It's just like robbing a bank. Of course, the robbers are after the wealth inside. Otherwise, what else would they be after? The salesgirl?"

"If they just wanted to rob someone, why not pick someone off the street instead of raiding a bank?"

"And most importantly, robbing a bank could be just a robbery. But robbing Gringotts? Would the robbers really be interested in those ugly goblins?"

Harry pursed his lips, his eyes dull. "What you said makes sense, but…"

"I heard from Hagrid that Gringotts is the safest place. How could it be attacked? Aren't you scared?"

"Afraid?" Dylan looked at him strangely.

If Voldemort himself had come in person, as long as he attacked properly, it wasn't impossible to take him down with a well-placed combination of spells—Piercing Wrist Bones, Soul-Stealing Curse, Fire Curse, and Avada Kedavra.

And once he mastered Shattered, Shadowless, and Thunderbolt Explosion, it would still be unclear who should fear whom.

"Wait!"

Suddenly, Dylan realized something was off.

"Didn't I say I wanted to come to Hogwarts to learn how to put on a turtle shell?"

"Why am I suddenly getting obsessed with learning attack spells?"

"Dylan? What's wrong?" Harry's voice snapped him out of his thoughts.

Dylan shook his head. "Nothing, I was just thinking about studying."

Ron looked shocked.

"How can you be so absentminded thinking about studying while walking down the street and chatting?"

"Is this what my brother always calls a born scholar?"

Returning to the original topic, Dylan said, "There's nothing to be afraid of."

"Oh?" Harry looked at him curiously.

Dylan had a relaxed expression. "I didn't save any money there anyway, so even if it was stolen, I wouldn't lose anything."

"…Huh?" Harry was baffled.

"What does saving money have to do with this?"

He had been asking about the safety of the wizarding world—if even Gringotts could be attacked, then wouldn't Hogwarts be at risk as well?

But then, Harry suddenly remembered something.

"Wait, no—this is related!"

His parents had left him a large sum of money in Gringotts!

His eyes widened.

"Gringotts can't be emptied out completely!"

After returning to the dormitory, Dylan tidied up briefly and began organizing his class notes.

He wrote down questions he wanted to ask Professor Snape over the weekend.

Then, he read for a while, and when it got dark, he washed up and went to bed early.

Saturday Morning

Dylan woke up early.

Since he had gone to bed early, he naturally woke up earlier than usual.

On Saturday mornings, the campus was quiet.

Half the students were still asleep.

Dylan strolled along the deserted path and headed straight for the Great Hall.

After breakfast, he went to the owlery to check on Luna.

The little owl was full of energy, her snow-white feathers shining brightly.

Recently, he had exchanged several letters with his family.

The messages were simple—just letting them know he was doing well and living a fulfilling life at Hogwarts.

And, of course, he no longer had to live in the basement.

Even though the dormitory was shared with four others, at least it was an actual room.

At the same time, he had sent some money to his parents to invest in stocks.

It was now 1991, and except for the wizarding world, the Muggle world seemed to be following the same historical trajectory.

Dylan had done some research and found that companies like American Express, OPhone, and Walmart existed in this world too.

So, he instructed his father to invest all his money in the stock market.

Fortunately, his recent achievements had earned him a decent amount of gold.

Combining that with the money his parents had previously given him, he converted everything into pounds and sent it home.

The reason? Simple—

"Dad, I met so many amazing magic professors at school! Did you see the money I sent? If you invest it as I said, we definitely won't lose money."

This statement worked in two ways.

By combining both ideas, anyone reading the letter would assume it was a single thought.

His parents assumed Hogwarts' magic professors had advised him to buy stocks.

In short, Dylan wasn't technically lying.

"Well… how can this be considered lying?"

Glancing at the time, Dylan realized it was almost time for the professors to start their day.

Although he wasn't sure if Professor Snape was already in his office, he had mentioned it after class yesterday.

So, the professor was likely waiting for him.

With that thought, Dylan quickened his pace.
