Chapter 90: Hogwarts, Please Graduate Soon, Ch 61.2
Rather than being a ghost, he is more like a collection of mischievous thoughts from the little wizards living in the castle, coalescing into a unique entity.
Just as Peeves was having a jolly time, he suddenly shivered as a chill arose from nowhere, as if he was being watched by Bloody Baron.
Scared, Peeves quickly looked around for Bloody Baron's figure.
To his surprise, he didn't see the Baron but instead caught a glimpse of a young wizard watching him with great interest.
Peeves was immediately enraged.
Usually, it's he who looks at other young wizards with such a gaze; how could the tables be turned today?
"Hey! You little brat, what are you looking at?"
Peeves put his hands on his hips, his hat wobbling amusingly.
"My name isn't 'Hey,' it's Chu…" Wayne began to instinctively reply but then realized something was amiss and changed the topic.
"Peeves, if you keep being naughty, do you believe I'll bring Bloody Baron over?"
Upon hearing Bloody Baron's name, Peeves indeed looked frightened, but noticing Wayne's Hufflepuff robes, he quickly regained his bravado.
"You little Hufflepuff wizard, Bloody Baron wouldn't even pay attention to you!
"Daring to scare the great Peeves, let's see how I'll deal with you!"
With that, Peeves lifted a bucket filled with fertilizer and flew into the air, preparing to pour it around Wayne to scare him.
He knew his limits; if he really dumped fertilizer on the young wizard, even Dumbledore would come after him.
Understanding Peeves' intentions, Wayne pulled out his wand, ready to teach Peeves a lesson.
Suddenly, he recalled the spell he had drawn last night—a Silent Fear that is instantaneous, without even the light of the spell.
Peeves, who had been grinning devilishly, suddenly froze, a cold sweat dripping from his ghostly form, followed by a loud, piercing scream.
He was perhaps seeing something that struck genuine fear into him, despite being fearless most of the time.
Once the effect faded, Peeves looked at Wayne with completely changed eyes.
"It was you, wasn't it?"
"Yes," Wayne acknowledged, "do you want to try again?"
Saying that, he pretended to wave his wand once more. The poltergeist was so scared that it immediately dropped what it was holding and fled through the ceiling.
The young wizards from Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff erupted into cheers, and Padma Patil's eyes lit up as she stared at Wayne, hardly blinking. A young wizard who was good-looking and powerful made her want to invite Wayne to share some Ganges water. Once they drank it, they would be family.
Just as everyone was celebrating, Professor Sprout arrived. After understanding the situation, she patted Wayne on the shoulder with an approving smile and awarded Hufflepuff ten more points.
However, the greenhouse was now a complete mess due to the poltergeist's antics. The original lesson was supposed to involve the young wizards fertilizing and trimming the evening primrose. Plans had to be changed.
Sprout pondered for a moment before leading the group to the adjacent Greenhouse 3. At the entrance, she seriously warned them, "The plants here are originally intended for third-year students, so they can be quite dangerous. Everyone please remember, once you enter the greenhouse, do not touch anything without my permission."
