Hogwarts: The Unscientific Wizard (TL)

Andy looked around.

It is a very ordinary room, but it is neatly furnished and looked clean, which made it seem out of place compared to the filthy environment downstairs.

Andy noticed a portrait hanging on one wall of the room. It is of a young girl who looked to be about fourteen or fifteen years old.

After glancing at the portrait, Andy suddenly understood.

The young girl in the portrait must be Ariana Dumbledore, Dumbledore's sister.

"Mr. Collins, please sit down!"

Dumbledore motioned for Andy to sit down, while he went over to the portrait and looked at the young girl in the portrait for a while without saying a word.

The young girl also looked at Dumbledore and gave him a faint smile.

Andy didn't say anything and didn't sit down either.

At this point, Andy felt a bit awkward to stay here. Faced with an old man who had lost a loved one, Andy didn't want to reopen his sad past.

If it is about other things, he would not care much about it as usual, but this time, as an older brother, in front of the portrait of the dead sister, he really couldn't ask some questions, especially those involving Dumbledore's sister.

Dumbledore turned his back on Andy and spoke with a touch of sadness, "You are a qualified brother, much more qualified than I. If I had been aware of Ariana's feelings, perhaps things would not have turned out like they did."

Andy was silent on hearing this.

In his youth, Dumbledore really did lack concern for his family. Every time he returned home from school, he would lock himself in the attic, counting his awards and corresponding with the world's most famous wizards.

But Andy, who had lived an extra life, was definitely more considerate in this regard than the youthful Dumbledore, brimming with idealism.

He had nothing to be proud of.

As for words of comfort... Dumbledore must have heard a lot of them.

"I think she must have really liked you and been proud to have such an outstanding brother."

Out of politeness, Andy still offered some comfort: "No one wants such an accident to happen. I don't think she blames you."

"Thank you!" Dumbledore said.

After a pause, Dumbledore slowly recounted, "When she was very young, she accidentally used magic and was seen by three Muggle boys. They did something terrible to her, and since then she has lost control of her magic..."

"Magic in her body almost drove her crazy."

"My father taught those muggles a harsh, long-lasting lesson, but he didn't explain the reason when Aurors came—to prevent Ariana from being sent to St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries for life."

"He was also imprisoned in Azkaban for this!"

Dumbledore calmly recounted the past, and although Andy had already heard it once, he still listened quietly and didn't interrupt.

At the end of the story, Dumbledore meets Grindelwald, and the two of them hit it off, to the point where he practically neglected Ariana.

When his younger brother Aberforth returned from holiday, he blamed Dumbledore for not taking care of Ariana and fought with Grindelwald.

That night, the three of them fought in the yard.

In the melee, someone's spell hit Ariana...

What a sad story!

Looking at Dumbledore before him, Andy suddenly thought of a saying: Growing up comes at a price.

That price was very painful, so painful that even today Dumbledore still cannot forgive himself for his foolishness. But it was also this painful price that shaped the Dumbledore of today.

Andy suddenly felt a little relieved that Dumbledore was not a character like Tobi (I want to create a world with Ariana); otherwise, it is hard to imagine what this world would have become.

After finishing the story, Dumbledore slowly turned around.

He looked at Andy with slightly deep eyes and said, "Collins... it seems that you have succeeded!"

"Yes!" Andy admitted frankly.

Andy was not surprised that Dumbledore knew his secret. After all, Andy never bothered to keep it a secret and had borrowed many relevant books from the Restricted Section to check references.

These were all recorded.

As soon as the librarian, Madam Pince, knew, Dumbledore would naturally know as well.

"However... there are still hidden dangers in Obscurus..."

Since Dumbledore mentioned it first, Andy no longer worried about it and told him about the problems he encountered and his guesses in one go.

There are only two things Andy wanted to know.

The first is the magic of love.

Andy believed that 'love' is the key to the fusion of the mind and magic, and as such, Andy naturally wanted to find out what kind of power 'love' really might be.

The second is a question related to the Obscurus.

Could a magically transformed body possibly better contain the power of the Obscurus?

Credence lived to be in his twenties.

Ariana lived to the age of fourteen, and her death was caused by a spell rather than a backlash from the Obscurus.

The Dumbledores... were quite something.

Andy always suspected that the founder of the Dumbledore family had used magic transfiguration to steal the power of the Phoenix.

Apart from that, is it possible to avoid the hidden dangers of the Obscurus with strong willpower?

After talking about his own problems, Andy spread his hands and said, "I don't feel any discomfort now, and these are the only two possibilities I can think of."

Willpower and magic transfiguration!

"Love..."

Dumbledore's gaze rested on Andy through his glasses. "Love is the purest emotion within the human heart. When you understand love, you will give everything to the one you love without expecting anything in return."

"Even your life!"

"If you look at it from a magical perspective, love is the purest form of magical power, purer than any other."

"Love is in the deepest part of your heart… Collins!"

Is that so...

Andy understood what Dumbledore meant.

Apart from the beautiful descriptions, love is a pure mental power...and mind control magic.

According to this logical relationship, love is indeed very strong!

The Killing Curse can only take your life.

Love, however, can make you willingly give up everything for the person you love, even your life.

That's why Lily's protection spell can rebound the killing curse!

But...

Andy frowned slightly.

None of this explains how it's related to the fusion of mind and magic!
