Hogwarts: Third Dark Lord

Chapter 99: Chapter 99: The Origin of the Pendant

Abernathy waved his hand idly toward Auston Gringlas, who immediately understood his signal. Just as Auston reached for his wand, the young woman standing nearby suddenly spoke up:

"This pendant belonged to my mother. After she passed away, my father has kept it with him."

Upon hearing this, the three men present were momentarily stunned, and Xenophilius Lovegood stopped his incessant chatter. After a brief pause, he spoke:

"That's right, this story was told to me by my late wife."

Curious, Abernathy asked, "May I ask, what was your wife's name?"

Though puzzled by Abernathy's question, and sensing a hint of suspicion in Xenophilius's gaze, he answered nonetheless:

"Pandora, Pandora Lovegood."

Abernathy didn't pay much attention to Xenophilius's subtle emphasis on his wife's surname. Instead, he was lost in thought, pondering the name Pandora.

"Did you know my mother?"

Luna suddenly inquired.

Upon hearing Luna's question, Abernathy slowly nodded, stroking Luna's golden hair as he spoke:

"Of course, when I first met your mother, she was not much older than you, yet she was already an exceptionally talented witch. I remember, she would often pester me with questions about various spells—she was an incredibly clever witch."

Xenophilius Lovegood, hearing this, showed a momentary look of surprised delight, and quickly ushered both Abernathy and Austin into the house. This time, Abernathy did not hold on to his hand as he had earlier.

Once inside, Xenophilius directed them to sit down, then retreated into the inner room. A moment later, he returned with a pot of tea. Just as he was about to introduce it, Abernathy suddenly spoke:

"Godrican tea, Pandora loved this tea."

At these words, Xenophilius had no more doubts and smiled.

"Indeed, it's Godrican tea. Now, it's also Luna's favorite."

Xenophilius proceeded to pour tea for everyone. Abernathy took a sip from his cup, paused in silence for a moment, and then suddenly turned to Luna.

"Has your mother ever spoken of this pendant? And the story behind it?"

Luna was momentarily taken aback, then shook her head.

"No, she never told me. In fact, my mother passed away due to a magical accident. Before that, although I often saw her gazing at the pendant in solitude, she never shared its story with me."

Upon hearing this, Abernathy sighed deeply, recognizing the situation. Such cases were not uncommon within the ranks of the Pureblood Party.

Perhaps because they had lost hope, or perhaps because they no longer received summons from the Pureblood Party, many had chosen to hide away. Others had started families of their own, concealing their past and their former glory for the sake of their children's safety.

But now, the name Grindelwald would once again shine in the wizarding world. It was time to awaken their former pride!

With this thought, Abernathy straightened his back, looked at the Lovegoods before him, and with a tone of pride, he slowly said:

"Never mind, I will tell you now what this pendant represents. It represents an era—an era called Grindelwald, an era called the Pureblood Party!"

Upon hearing Abernathy's words, Xenophilius Lovegood instinctively held his breath, then exchanged a look with Luna, who, with a blank expression, calmly asked:

"Father, what is the Pureblood Party?"

Before Xenophilius could answer, Abernathy, with a look of disbelief, asked:

"Have you never heard of this name?"

Xenophilius Lovegood quickly began to explain:

"Actually, I intentionally never told Luna about the wizarding world. I feel that children should focus on what interests them. After all, every wizard grows up, but there is no potion that can bring a wizard back to their childhood."

Listening to Xenophilius's explanation, Abernathy nodded in understanding.

Then, he began to explain the origins of the Pureblood Party to Luna, concluding:

"Luna, your mother was once a part of us—not just your mother, but also your grandfather! Although you have not yet joined the Pureblood Party, and perhaps never will, you are, by birth, a child of the Pureblood Party!"

At this point, Abernathy suddenly took out a new pendant from his robe. Its design was almost identical to the one worn by Xenophilius Lovegood, but it appeared more exquisite.

He handed the pendant to Luna and said:

"I give you this pendant. If you ever find yourself in trouble you cannot solve, use this pendant to find me, or seek out other wizards who wear the same pendant. I believe they will lend a helping hand."

Luna gazed at the pendant in her hand, a hint of fondness in her eyes, and casually asked:

"What kind of people are the wizards of the Pureblood Party?"

Abernathy paused for a moment, then smiled warmly:

"The Pureblood Party of the past was mostly made up of old men like me. As for the Pureblood Party of the future, when you get to Hogwarts, you'll know when you meet a wizard who bears the same symbol. Their appearance will be the future of the Pureblood Party."

Luna seemed to understand something, her gaze still fixed on the pendant as she slowly nodded.

Xenophilius Lovegood, who had remained silent, now seemed eager to speak, but hesitated. As the editor of The Quibbler, he knew well what kind of wizards the Pureblood Party was made of, and he didn't want Luna to be exposed to them, even though his own wife had once been a member.

After Abernathy finished speaking, Xenophilius quickly asked:

"May I ask why you two have come here today?"

Hearing Xenophilius's question, Abernathy shifted his gaze away from Luna and pulled out a photo from his robe.

"It's simple," he said, "I want you to praise him in The Quibbler!"
