Chapter 98: Chapter 98: Are you worried about my safety?

Dumbledore was pondering something.

No matter how much he wished to seize the initiative, if the other side was determined to hide, there was no way they could find them.

"I think you'd do better to turn your attention back to teaching for now," Dippet suggested with a chuckle. "The war Grindelwald started isn't your burden to bear alone. Speaking of teaching, those two children you brought back are rather extraordinary."

"Hmm? What about them?" Dumbledore asked in confusion.

Ever since the Sorting Ceremony, he had been occupied with Grindelwald's affairs, constantly on the move.

After coming up empty-handed, he'd only just returned to Hogwarts today, so he had no idea what Wade and Tom had been up to these past few days.

"Those two first-years knocked down seven or eight students who tried to cause trouble for them on their very first day," Dippet said with a smile. "Among them were even three upper-year students. It seems you taught them quite a lot before term started."

"That really happened?" Dumbledore was quite surprised.

However, what surprised him wasn't that they had managed to take down so many students, but rather why they had gotten into conflict with their classmates so soon after starting school.

Wade, after all, had already proven himself before coming to Hogwarts, using his intelligence and abilities to fend off multiple attacks from the Alliance. His talents were undoubtedly exceptional.

This was one of the reasons Dumbledore paid such close attention to the two boys.

"What was the cause of the conflict?" Dumbledore asked.

"To be precise, it stemmed from that whole pure-blood ideology," Headmaster Dippet explained. "It seems the two children don't share the same views as the other Slytherin students. Also, the local pure-blood families seem to harbor some prejudice against pure-bloods from abroad… On their very first day, those two had to band together with a few others to form their own little group. It's not the first time students have resisted, but few have managed to do it to this extent."

Indeed, there had been students in the past who tried to resist the pure-blood oppression, but most of them fell at the very first confrontation.

Yet Wade's group had managed to hold their ground after so many days, which was no small feat and owed much to their remarkable abilities.

The faculty had long wished to address the unhealthy atmosphere in Slytherin, but until now, they had been powerless to do much.

After all, in previous years, the entire Slytherin House had been united under the same ideology, leaving the school with little room to interfere. At best, they could only strictly punish blatant bullying to keep things from getting too out of hand.

But now, finally, there was a crack in that increasingly twisted ideology.

"From the looks of it, Wade and his group might actually bring some change to the future of Slytherin," Dumbledore said, a faint smile appearing on his face.

"It seems you truly hold high hopes for those two children, Albus," Dippet replied with a chuckle.

In his dreams, Wade reported to his senior about everything that had happened tonight.

"You plan to use the 'residue' to cultivate your own followers?" She immediately saw through Wade's intentions.

"Yes," Wade answered honestly. There was no point in hiding it, nor could he even if he wanted to.

He had deliberately let the information slip to Tom and the others, and to someone like his senior, the motive behind such an action was all too clear.

"Hmm.. It's not a bad plan, but… you need to control the quantity. Don't let them know how easily you can create this power," she advised. "Only when something is hard to obtain will they truly cherish it. Only then will they maintain their respect for you."

"Naturally." Wade nodded, fully agreeing with her reminder.

If they ever learned that he could easily create such power, yet only gave them a tiny bit, they would inevitably grow resentful.

But if he told them this power was hard to acquire and still generously shared so much with them, they would be filled with gratitude. That's human nature, after all.

As for his upcoming raid on the goblin camp, the senior didn't try to stop him. On the contrary, she very considerately offered him plenty of useful advice.

After all, back in the days when the goblin Ranrok's forces ran rampant, the senior would casually stroll through the Forbidden Forest and wipe out several goblin camps along the way…

After a good night's sleep, Wade woke up in high spirits.

In contrast, Tom and the others looked rather exhausted.

After all, they didn't have Wade's ability to fall asleep the moment he lay down. (P.S. I'm fucking jealous!)

"When are you planning to make a move?" Tom quietly asked Wade as they washed up.

Wade immediately understood what he was referring to and replied succinctly, "Tonight."

"So soon?" Tom was a little surprised.

From what he knew of Wade, this guy never rushed into anything. He always planned thoroughly and prepared everything in advance before taking action.

But striking tonight felt a bit too hasty, completely unlike Wade's usual approach.

However, what Tom didn't know was that Wade had already made all the necessary preparations in last night's dream.

In fact, the senior had even used the observational abilities of her Nightmare Magic to survey the goblin camp in advance, following Wade's instructions…

Wade was now thoroughly familiar with the layout of that goblin camp.

"No big problem. I plan to act in the second half of the night. We're racing against time, so we have no choice but to hurry… you shouldn't come tonight."

Hearing this, Tom fell silent. This guy was always so confident…

If it were him, he would definitely act with extreme caution… after all, you only have one life!

Without proper scouting, there was no way he would charge in recklessly.

"Hmph, do whatever you want. Honestly, it'd be best for me if you got yourself killed."

"Tom, could it be that you're actually worried about my safety?"

"You're insane! Where did you even get that idea? Get lost, just go die already!" Tom snapped in frustration.

Wade cheerfully patted Tom hard on the shoulder and smiled, "Relax, Tom, nothing will happen to me…"

"Who the hell is worried about you? You're seriously sick in the head!"

"I get it, Tom, you're just too shy to admit it…"

"You understand nothing at all!"

First-year classes weren't particularly intense, so they didn't feel all that exhausting.

However, if it was History of Magic… that was a whole different story.

This was Wade's first time attending Professor Binns' History of Magic class.

Professor Binns was a ghost who had been teaching for who knows how many years.

Because of this, his teaching style was just as dry and dull as it had been centuries ago.

It was the kind of class that could lull anyone straight to sleep.

Barely twenty minutes into the lesson, and most of the students had already dozed off.

Professor Binns paid no mind to this and continued reading from the textbook in his monotonous drone.

Wade didn't bother forcing himself to stay awake either. Before long, like the others, he laid his head on the desk and indulged in some sleep.

After all, he had an important mission tonight. Getting plenty of rest could only be to his advantage.

Finally, class was over. After assigning homework, Professor Binns drifted straight through the wall and left.

Wade, like the others, stretched lazily as he walked out of the History of Magic classroom.

The other Slytherin students, as usual, made a point of avoiding Wade's little group.

Before long, only a few of them were left at the classroom door.

"Tom, why do you look so tired? Didn't you sleep well just now?"

"That's because I don't have the habit of sleeping in class."

"What? You actually stayed awake the entire time in Professor Binns' class?"

"Even though I'm not particularly interested in the History of Magic, it's still a subject we'll be tested on. Since there's an exam, I can't afford to slack off."

After hearing Tom's words, not only Wade, but also Anne, Alphard, and the others all looked at him with admiration.

Staying awake for the entire class with Professor Binns, and even taking notes diligently—!!!

No doubt about it, this was truly a formidable person!

"Tom, you're a bit too diligent. If you keep this up, what are we supposed to do? You're making us feel so guilty!" Henry complained helplessly.

"Why should I care what you do? It's not like I forced you to sleep in class," Tom replied, lifting his chin.

"Tom, could you not do things that make the rest of us feel so divided?" Alphard groaned.

"Henry, Alphard, I think you two should be more diligent. If you're already this careless with school lessons, how do you expect to become stronger?"

"Speaking of becoming stronger..." Wade glanced at the time. "There's still a little while before lunch. How about we go check out the place now?"

Anne asked in surprise, "Wade, you've already found a place?"

"This isn't the place to talk about it. Don't say anything yet, just follow me," Wade said, taking the lead toward the stairs.

Tom's comment about getting stronger had reminded Wade—since they still had time, he decided to go search for the Room of Requirement right away.

Compared to tonight's venture into the Forbidden Forest, helping the others in the group grow stronger was just as urgent.
