Chapter 59: Methods Against Danzo
Sarutobi Clan Land
Sarutobi Hiruzen looked at Shimura Danzo, who appeared dissatisfied. He put down his pipe and said, "Danzo, do you know why I asked you here?"
"Hmph, just say what you need to say," Danzo replied.
Sarutobi Hiruzen tapped his pipe, narrowed his eyes, and said, "In the future, you are not allowed to approach that child, Uchiha Chiba, without my permission."
"That's enough, Hiruzen. This won't work, and that won't either. First it was Namikaze Minato, and now Uchiha Chiba. Am I not allowed to replenish my base?" Shimura Danzo slammed the table and roared.
"I know your roots haven't been established for long. It's normal for you to lack manpower. However, you cannot touch certain people. If your roots are truly short on members, you can go to the orphanage and pick up some children."
Sarutobi Hiruzen's words struck a nerve, and Shimura Danzo's anger flared even more.
"The orphanage? What good could a group of starving little brats offer me?" Danzo thought for a moment before continuing, "I won't go to the orphanage to recruit. It's fine if you don't want me to touch Uchiha Chiba, but you have to let me pick two members from Anbu."
Hiruzen was pleased. This was blackmail.
"Don't even think about using Anbu. I've warned you. If you continue to pursue that child, Chiba, you won't just be facing me."
Sarutobi Hiruzen took a sip of tea, looking satisfied. "The Uchiha and Senju clans will come after you when the time comes. I don't know if you'll be able to withstand it."
With a mocking glance at Danzo, Hiruzen added, "You want to compete with me? You don't even know your limits."
After hearing Sarutobi Hiruzen's words, Shimura Danzo broke into a cold sweat. He had underestimated Uchiha Chiba's power and forgotten that Chiba was connected to Tsunade.
If it were just the Uchiha clan, he could handle it, but with Senju backing them up... Danzo realized he would be outmatched.
"Hmph, I know. You don't need to remind me," Danzo grumbled, reluctantly acknowledging Hiruzen's point.
"I'm glad you understand," Sarutobi Hiruzen said with a chuckle, looking at Danzo's frustrated expression.
Danzo's eyes filled with rage. This old monkey is too much.
"Hiruzen, don't get too proud. Things are changing, and you won't be able to keep suppressing me forever."
With that, Shimura Danzo stood up and left. Sarutobi Hiruzen didn't stop him but silently watched as he walked away.
When Danzo's figure disappeared, Hiruzen smiled contemptuously, muttering to himself, "Danzo, with your abilities, I'll be eating you alive for the rest of my life."
The Next Day
Chiba carried the cat-faced man to the police station and handed him over to Uchiha Fugaku before turning to leave. Although he didn't know whether Fugaku believed the man was a spy, it was no longer his concern—let others deal with it.
The next morning, Uchiha Fugaku came to find Chiba.
"Chiba, the man you brought me yesterday wasn't a spy; he was from Anbu. Not long after you left, Anbu came asking for him."
Uchiha Chiba felt no surprise. He had expected this outcome, but he hadn't anticipated that Sarutobi Hiruzen would be the one covering for Shimura Danzo.
He couldn't help but silently admire the good friendship between Hiruzen and Konoha, but at the same time, he felt that Danzo had become too disrespectful by trying to deceive him without offering any compensation.
It seems that causing more trouble for Danzo would be necessary.
Uchiha Chiba feigned shock and said, "What? Anbu? That man tried to kill me yesterday. If I hadn't had some ability, I might not have made it back."
Uchiha Fugaku looked helpless. On one side, there was a genius from his own clan, and on the other, there was the Hokage.
Even if Fugaku wanted to favor Chiba, there was little he could do.
So, in addition to informing Chiba about the follow-up on the incident, Fugaku also came to apologize.
"Sorry, Chiba. I didn't want to hand him over, but I had no choice in the situation yesterday."
Chiba understood Fugaku's difficulties but still decided to pretend to be upset.
"This is none of your business, Brother Fugaku. Just treat me like I didn't say anything."
Seeing the aggrieved look on Chiba's face, Fugaku felt even more guilty. As the son of the clan leader, it felt like a dereliction of duty to let his clansmen suffer such unfair treatment.
After thinking for a moment, Fugaku made a decision.
"Don't worry, Chiba. I will tell Father about this, and I'll make sure you get justice."
Hearing this, Chiba thought to himself that this was exactly what he was waiting for. When the time came, he would make sure Tsunade saw his misfortune. He didn't believe that the Uchiha and Senju couldn't deal with a mere Danzo.
"It's fine, Brother Fugaku. You don't need to trouble the clan leader over something so trivial."
"No, if we don't get an explanation, how can the Uchiha clan maintain a presence in Konoha?" Fugaku's tone grew more determined. "I'll go tell Father right now."
Without waiting for a reply, Fugaku turned around and left.
Now that Fugaku was taken care of, Chiba needed to figure out how to approach Senju for the next step.
However, he faced a problem: how could he act miserable in front of Tsunade?
Should he injure himself? Then Tsunade might accidentally discover it.
As soon as this idea crossed his mind, Chiba discarded it. His talent, "Death Curse," healed itself, and he had mastered medical Jutsu. Using such low-level tricks was unrealistic.
So what should he do?
Chiba walked home, thinking deeply.
When he reached the door of his bedroom, a flash of inspiration struck.
"Yes! First, I'll ask Tsunade if she knows who Danzo is. Then she'll ask why I'm asking, and I'll explain about the Root."
After coming up with this idea, Chiba decided to visit Tsunade the next day under the pretense of paying New Year's greetings.
The Next Day
On the land of the Senju clan, Uchiha Chiba arrived early in the morning, hoping to catch Tsunade before she left. He walked in without being stopped, as he was familiar with the Senju clan's guards.
After knocking on Tsunade's door, footsteps approached from behind.
The door opened, revealing a strange woman standing in front of Chiba.
"Hello, who are you looking for?" she asked gently, noticing he was a stranger.
