Chapter 1209: Banished?-1
Meanwhile, Talia was speeding throughout the city without a care in the world. Even if a chase ensued, it could be blamed on Samuel as it was his car. Her mind was racing with possibilities, but there were only two prominent options in front of her.
She could go back and face her mentor and accept her fate since she spilled their most vital secrets, or she could sneak out and vanish like a ghost. Being the best agent meant she had more than a dozen hidden identities and safe houses around the world that even the organization didn't know about.
She always remembered her mentor's words to not trust anything and be always prepared for a rainy day. She never thought her plan would have to be implemented against her own people. Living a life on the run actually suited her, as she was used to moving around due to her job, so the offer was tempting, but she was hesitating because of loyalty.
Raani helped her when she needed her the most, nurturing and teaching her everything she knew. She could be considered her only family member, as she didn't even want to acknowledge her real family after what they did to her.
She was ashamed because she even told him about her; even Raani didn't know the whole truth because it was too painful for her to place them in words, which made it even more bizarre how she recounted everything to a sleezeball like him.
As her thoughts gravitated toward Samuel, she felt something in her heart,, but she mercilessly squashed it, making up her mind. Without stopping, she went to the underground parking lot of the business district, making her way toward her 'workplace'.
Her status was still 'MIA' so seeing her enter the door and even verify her scans did garner some stares from those who knew her. She had a stellar reputation in the department and even made 'partners' within the organization which at this time was the highest position one could achieve if they didn't know about the real owners of the place.
"Talia..you..are you alright?" A few of her colleagues tried to block her way, trying to ask answers, but she wasn't having it. She went past them, completely ignoring them, which only angered these people.
Talia was famous for the perfect success rate of her missions, but she wasn't sociable or even talkative. She was like a stone, and even if someone tried to talk to her, taking an interest in her, she wouldn't even look their way twice, making them feel less than human.
A ice queen would be a more fitting description of her personality, who only meant business and nothing else. No one even knew what she did outside her job, so her ignoring them was part of the course, but others feel like she thought they were beneath her, which was why she never even talked with them! But since they worked alone, the management didn't have any issue with her behavior.
No one stopped her anymore as she went up to the elevator trying to access it with her badge, but it flashed red, which surprised her. She tried again, but the result was the same; she grabbed one of the people snatching their card before using it, which flashed green.
She knew her authorization had been revoked. The people that were just worried about her seconds ago became alert. Any unauthorized person in the building had to be neutralized; that was a key rule.
She turned around, throwing the card toward it's owner before looking at fifty people that were readying themselves to pounce on her.
"It seems like you people haven't learned anything." She said with a sigh, pulling out two batons; guns weren't allowed inside the building without special access.
"Do you really think you can beat all of us?"
"Maybe her success clouded her instinct. A good beating would surely solve everything."
"I didn't believe that I would have a chance to touch my goddess; don't blame me for my hands having minds of my own."
"Will it be fine? Maybe it's a security error or something?" Someone with some brains asked.
"Who cares? We can't let her go either way, and she is not going to come with her easily. Just join in; it's not everyday we have to face the supposed best among us."
There were a lot of murmurs; ten or so people that didn't have any gripe with her chose to stand down, but there were still more than thirty people that were gunning for her head, many of them trying to take advantage of her beauty!
She didn't wait for them and jumped. Her moves were lightening fast as she twisted her body around like a tornado; her kicks were deadly, making people fly across the room. There was a reason why Samuel struggled so much against Raani; in terms of physical capabilities, Talia was more superior than her mentor, but what she lacked was decades of experience.
"Get the bitch! Attack her from all sides!"
Talia saw them targeting her more coordinately, so she switched tactics, retreating a few steps using her kicks and weapon to dispose of anyone that tried to overextend. She was like a tigress, using the sterile office space to the best of their abilities.
A woman might have less strength and a weaker body, but with a sharp brain, the bridge could be shortened a lot, especially in such abrupt scenarios. If they were outside or they had weapons, she had no chance to fight them, even if there were five of them, as they too were well-trained professionals, but Talia was a different breed.
There was no hesitation, no extra movement, nothing. She was like a robot, completely in the zone, dismantling anything that threatened her. Few of them did manage to land some hits on her, which might have broken some bones, but nothing of importance was lost until the end.
"Don't mess with me in the future." She said coldly but she too was tired and sweating. She located a high ranking member taking his card before entering the elevator unobstructed.
She knew what happened must have been seen by them, but she didn't care. She wanted to find her master and demand some answers!
