“…What are you doing?”
Yoon Pa-ran’s expression hardened into its usual blank look, matching his voice. Unable to take his eyes off this change, Dan Joo-hyuk managed to open his mouth.
This time, strangely, his lips felt very dry. His fingertips felt empty and kept twitching.
“Me?”
Yoon Pa-ran, who was answering reflexively, was about to move his lips but stopped abruptly. Dan Joo-hyuk observed this subtle hesitation as if entranced.
Finally, Yoon Pa-ran scratched his eyebrow with his fingertip and continued his answer.
“I’m keeping the kids at the orphanage company. Why?”
I thought he would answer by asking why I was asking about such a thing.
“……”
Even through the screen, Yoon Pa-ran’s ear tips were visibly flushed red. Though it was probably from running around in the cold, Dan Joo-hyuk’s gaze kept returning to them.
At first his lips were dry, but now his throat was starting to burn. The dry winter air had clearly invaded Dan Joo-hyuk’s insides.
“Hunter Yoon Pa-ran.”
“Speak.”
“Come to my house.”
“…Why?”
Dan Joo-hyuk, without blinking, stared at Yoon Pa-ran’s reddened earlobes as he spoke.
“I brought you a gift.”
Dan Joo-hyuk’s bright eye-smile, which had bloomed by now, was fully reflected in the rearview mirror.
❖ ❖ ❖
After finishing his shower, Dan Joo-hyuk waited for Yoon Pa-ran with mixed feelings.
About two hours after that phone call, Yoon Pa-ran arrived. When he heard him coming up, his feet moved to the living room on their own.
Yoon Pa-ran, though with a somewhat sullen expression, stepped into the house without hesitation. However, after striding out of the elevator, he stopped at the entrance for some reason, awkwardly standing without taking off his shoes.
Dan Joo-hyuk, who had been moving along with him, naturally stopped a few steps away.
“I’m here.”
“Yeah.”
He was wearing a hoodie with a different character from the one Dan Joo-hyuk had seen before. Observing this, Dan Joo-hyuk thought absently:
Does he keep those clothes like a set of items?
“Aren’t you cold?”
“Not really.”
It was now December. In the few days since Dan Joo-hyuk had returned from Russia, the weather had become even harsher, and most people on the streets were now wearing thick padded jackets.
Yet Yoon Pa-ran was moving about freely in just a slightly thick hoodie in this cold wave. Dan Joo-hyuk strangely couldn’t take his eyes off this wild beast-like appearance. The impression was different from seeing Yoon Pa-ran through a screen.
So again, it was difficult to approach Yoon Pa-ran hastily.
Dan Joo-hyuk slightly furrowed his brow at the peculiar sensation that kept overwhelming him. What was his instinct trying to warn him about?
Lost in thought, he didn’t respond for a moment. Yoon Pa-ran, for some reason, glanced this way and added:
“You probably don’t feel the cold much either, right?”
“……”
Now his gaze went to Yoon Pa-ran’s lips moving delicately. It spread to his eyelashes twitching as if uncomfortable in this place, and his large eyes.
Those red ear tips must be due to the cold winter air too.
“We’re both hunters, so… it’s the same with heat, and all.”
“……”
Faced with Dan Joo-hyuk’s sudden silence, Yoon Pa-ran unconsciously became self-conscious.
Thinking he might have answered too carelessly earlier, he added more words, but Dan Joo-hyuk kept his mouth shut. Though it had only been a few days since they last met, Dan Joo-hyuk’s face strangely felt unfamiliar.
Because of this, an extremely awkward air crept between the two. Uncomfortable with this awkward atmosphere, Yoon Pa-ran rubbed the nape of his neck.
Then he glanced up again. As if checking something, he slowly scanned Dan Joo-hyuk’s comfortable attire from top to bottom.
Though it had always been like this, the media had been quite vocal about Dan Joo-hyuk in various ways. Things like the items he would bring back to Korea or the achievements that would be recorded as world firsts and in record time.
Among them were reports that Dan Joo-hyuk had been severely injured. That’s why he returned to Korea so quickly.
Since he would heal quickly anyway, Yoon Pa-ran hadn’t worried too much. Still, at least from the outside, he didn’t seem to be badly hurt.
“Looks like you came back well.”
“Were you worried?”
A flirtatious answer immediately came back to the sentiment Yoon Pa-ran had blurted out without thinking. It was like his usual self, as if he had never been silent.
Yoon Pa-ran’s gaze directly met Dan Joo-hyuk’s smiling eyes. Feeling somehow embarrassed by this, Yoon Pa-ran turned his head abruptly and answered grumpily.
What worry.
“Not really.”
Dan Joo-hyuk just stared blankly at Yoon Pa-ran’s behavior.
His gaze naturally went to Yoon Pa-ran’s earlobes, which were now even more visible. They were still flushed red, as if the cold hadn’t faded yet. Looking closely, his nape also seemed somewhat reddish.
Not really, he says.
Doesn’t that mean he was a little worried about me?
This train of thought passed in an instant. For some reason, he also remembered how Yoon Pa-ran had readily answered the phone earlier.
When he came to his senses, Dan Joo-hyuk was already striding up to Yoon Pa-ran’s face.
Without hesitation, as if he had never been hesitating.
“Why, why, mmph.”
He crashed his lips against Yoon Pa-ran’s. The cheeks he greedily grasped with both hands were very cold. Even if he doesn’t feel the cold much, he could have dressed a bit warmer before coming out.
In contrast to the cold skin, the mucous membrane inside his mouth was very hot. As he forcefully parted it, it felt like he could finally breathe properly.
It’s strange, I haven’t been unable to breathe properly until now.
“Hng, mmph, hey……”
“Mm, I’m back safely.”
Yoon Pa-ran’s hands pushed at Dan Joo-hyuk’s face frantically, probably startled.
Ignoring this, Dan Joo-hyuk greeted him while attaching and detaching his lips. When Yoon Pa-ran inhaled and became a bit more docile, from then on he mixed their tongues feverishly.
He pulled Yoon Pa-ran’s waist close. There was an irritating friction sound from the floor. Realizing that Yoon Pa-ran hadn’t even taken off his shoes yet, Dan Joo-hyuk lifted his body as it was.
“Whoa…!”
He pressed their lips together again while supporting Yoon Pa-ran’s buttocks. With his remaining hand, he took off Yoon Pa-ran’s shoes that were flailing in the air.
With the dull sound of shoes falling behind them, he was heading towards the sofa when Yoon Pa-ran pushed Dan Joo-hyuk’s shoulders away with slightly increased strength.
“Hey, ugh, we don’t have to do this now.”
“If it were a situation where we had to, would you let me?”
“Ugh……”
Yoon Pa-ran looked down at Dan Joo-hyuk with a bewildered expression.
The sudden reduction in distance was baffling. Dan Joo-hyuk’s appearance looking up at him was equally unfamiliar.
“Hm?”
He gently shook Yoon Pa-ran’s body with both arms, as if urging him. It seemed like he was playing around while someone was trying to speak seriously.
Is he trying to charge his skill as soon as he arrived? He was clearly obsessed with gates.
As if reading Yoon Pa-ran’s resigned state of mind, Dan Joo-hyuk smiled deeply again. Yoon Pa-ran unconsciously stared blankly at those eyes curving like the moon.
Their lips met again. Despite his now somewhat leisurely tongue movements, Yoon Pa-ran felt like he was dying. His toes curled at the sensation he hadn’t experienced for so long.
As he moved again, Dan Joo-hyuk tapped Yoon Pa-ran’s arms that were hovering in the air and pulled them. Yoon Pa-ran ended up clinging to his neck, but he didn’t let go of his arms again.
At some point, his body fell onto the sofa with a thud.
“Haa, ugh……”
Dan Joo-hyuk kept pressing his lips against Yoon Pa-ran’s while on top of him. He could feel slight moisture from Dan Joo-hyuk’s hair, probably from having showered not long ago.
Come to think of it, he couldn’t feel his usually prickly wavelength well. He had thought he’d have to get used to that sharp aura again since it had been a while since they met face to face.
As Yoon Pa-ran’s thoughts flowed like water,
Suddenly, Dan Joo-hyuk stopped his lips and made a strange exclamation.
“Ah.”
“Haa… Haah.”
Yoon Pa-ran, finally able to breathe, gasped for air desperately. By now, he was troubled by the pleasure tickling under his skin like the cold.
Unlike Yoon Pa-ran, Dan Joo-hyuk spoke in a very refreshed voice.
“I’ll give you your gift.”
The large body that had been pressing down on him like pouncing disappeared in an instant.
At that empty sensation, Yoon Pa-ran finally came to his senses.
“Uh, yeah.”
Right. He had come here because of the mention of a gift.
But why did we kiss just now, damn it.
“Here.”
The somewhat indignant feeling subsided quickly.
Dan Joo-hyuk had reappeared, bringing something strange and holding it out in front of him.
“What’s this?”
It was a white fabric of unknown identity. At first, he thought it might be some kind of skirt. He even got upset for a moment, wondering if Dan Joo-hyuk had gone all the way to Russia to buy something like this to tease him.
However, the more he looked at it carefully, the more it became apparent that it was an item. The overly antique clothing pattern and overall appearance gave it away. It looked like an item often worn by hunters who mainly use ranged attacks or take on healer positions.
As soon as he realized it was an item, Yoon Pa-ran’s expression became strange.
Finally, the identity of this object flowed from Dan Joo-hyuk’s mouth.
“These are things that came from the recent Russian gate and the previous S-grade gate in Korea.”
At those words, Yoon Pa-ran truly raised his head in shock.
His face, surprised by the unexpected words, soon hardened seriously. He was convinced that there must be some ulterior motive again.
Dan Joo-hyuk’s face was similar to usual. Judging by his smooth yet refreshing curved smile, he seemed quite excited.
This made it even harder for Yoon Pa-ran to gauge if it was real, so he slightly raised his guard.
“Why are you giving something like that to me?”
