Honkai Impact 3rd: Catching the Herrscher of Sentience at the Start

Chapter 314: Chapter 309: You're Just Making Things Hard for Me, Kiana!

Fu Lin curled his lips and gently patted her head, saying, "Since you're already here, come on in."

"Thank you, but I'll pass."

Kiana quickly waved her hands. She clearly didn't expect Fu Lin to show such 'concern,' and she felt terribly unlucky to have such a 'good' friend.

"You're welcome, Kiana. You're my friend, of course I'll care about you. Come on in."

Fu Lin smiled warmly, his voice full of sincerity and friendliness. But to Kiana, he looked like a devil, slowly dragging her into a hell called knowledge.

"Noooo!"

Kiana's voice was filled with despair and sorrow.

---------------------------------

"Damn you, Fu Lin! I curse you to eat instant noodles without the seasoning packet~!"

Kiana slumped over the desk in despair, her eyes resentfully fixed on Fu Lin at the podium—there was no hiding that murderous glare.

"Ahem, everyone quiet down. Let me introduce myself first."

"My surname is Fu, given name Lin, from Shenzhou. Male. Age? That's a secret. From now on, just call me Mr. Lin. Next time, don't go calling me class rep Fu Hua—even if you're not embarrassed, I am."

Fu Lin ignored Kiana's glare, cleared his throat, and wrote his name on the blackboard. Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating the words "Fu Lin."

His chalk writing was neat and powerful, exuding an undeniable authority that silenced the chatter of the Valkyries, leaving them holding their breath.

Kiana looked at Fu Lin's back and involuntarily lowered her head, a wave of fear named "teacher" welling up in her heart.

"I'm your new history teacher, responsible for teaching you the history of the Honkai Civilization. I hope you'll study seriously—understanding the past is the key to facing the future."

Fu Lin turned around, smiling as his gaze swept over each student, finally landing on Kiana. Seeing that she wasn't asleep, he nodded in satisfaction.

After all, Theresa had repeatedly emphasized keeping an eye on this one—he had to give her some special attention, of course, purely for academic reasons, definitely nothing personal.

Kiana's heart clenched as she caught the flash of slyness in Fu Lin's eyes—a bad premonition washed over her.

Fu Lin continued, his tone casual and friendly.

"Of course, if you have any questions, feel free to come to me. My office is, uh… not important. Just come chat with me after class."

The Valkyrie trainees breathed a collective sigh of relief. Looking at Fu Lin's handsome face, their eyes lit up, and a blush crept across the faces of the more bashful ones.

"All right, I know I'm handsome, but please put down your phones. This is my first class, so I hope for your cooperation."

The students burst into laughter at his words. Fu Lin clapped his hands, and the classroom instantly fell silent. Phones were put away as every gaze turned toward him.

Meanwhile, Kiana lay on her desk, watching Fu Lin chatting and laughing. A dark expression crossed her face as she buried her head in her arms, muttering quietly,

"So full of himself. I've never seen anyone this narcissistic!"

"The previous history teacher left suddenly, and the Principal paid a high price to bring me in, so I don't know how much you've learned so far."

"..."

"Next, I'll randomly pick someone to answer a question. Hmm… I choose you, Kiana."

Standing on the podium, Fu Lin's eyes quickly scanned the class and landed on Kiana. He decided to start with her.

The more important reason? Kiana had fallen asleep! If he didn't make her answer, she'd probably sleep through the whole class!

Don't ask how he knew—just know that, as her deskmate and class monitor at Chiba Academy, he'd been watching the whole time.

Seeing that Kiana hadn't reacted, Fu Lin stepped down from the podium and walked over. He tapped the desk with his finger and said, "Kiana, wake up and answer the question."

Kiana looked up, eyes dazed as she stared at Fu Lin. Under his gaze, she quickly stood up, pointing at herself in confusion.

"Me?"

She asked softly, her voice tinged with doubt and surprise, her blue eyes practically spelling out,

Why me? Don't you know I'm not good at this? I bet you're targeting me on purpose.

Fu Lin nodded, smiling at her before asking, "Who was the first person in history to possess the power to resist the Honkai?"

"It's… it's—"

Kiana's mind went completely blank. She tried to recall what the previous history teacher had said, but nothing came to mind.

Seeing the slight smirk forming on Fu Lin's lips made her hand tremble with an urge to punch something.

Kiana took a deep breath, trying to calm down and recall the content Bronya had tutored her on. A voice echoed in her ears,

"Stupid Kiana, Ji Xuanyuan was the first human in history to possess the power to resist the Honkai."

Gradually, fragments resurfaced in her mind. Her eyes lit up as she looked at Fu Lin and answered:

"I remember now—it was Ji Xuanyuan!"

Fu Lin nodded. Seems like Kiana knew a bit, so he continued, "Very good. Now, what year B.C. was that?"

"..."

Just as Kiana was basking in the joy of answering correctly, Fu Lin's follow-up question wiped the smile from her face. The sparkle in her eyes dimmed.

"You're doing this on purpose!"

"How could I be? Take a seat. You there—please answer this question."

Fu Lin's mouth twitched. He knew better than to expect too much.

Still, not a bad start. He turned to the student sitting next to Kiana.
