House of The Dragon-A God Amongst Men

Chapter 446: Decisions II

(Third Person POV)

"I don't like this decision." Riktor said seriously as he had his arms crossed, "But Father's word is absolute, so there's no use going against it."

Sylas nodded, "Yes...." He said, "You're right."

They were in the courtyard. Sylas was about to depart to Casterly Rock, flying on his mount. A detachment would then be sent to deliver his personal belongings and as soon as Sylas settles in, he would be visited by his aunt, Dara Riversbane.

Now, he was saying goodbye to his brother.

"Three years." Riktor said, "That is a lot of time. Father may not think much about it, he's a god and all. Three years is but a blink of an eye to him."

Sylas nodded, "A lot can happen in Three Years." He said, "A lot can happen....."

Riktor patted his shoulder, "I'll write to you, brother." He said, "And you return, we'll resume our training as usual."

Sylas smiled slightly, "Of course." He said, "Take care of yourself, Riktor."

"Sylas." a voice said

He turned to see Saera walking up to him, a sad look on her face.

"M-Mama Saera..." Sylas said as she reached him

Saera patted his cheek gently, a single tear running down her cheek, "I'll write to you every week." She said softly, "Do not be cruel and write back, alright?"

Sylas nodded, "Yes."

She pulled him in for a hug, "I will miss you, my love." She said softly, "You may not be my blood, but I love you so much. Every day without you will be painful, my beautiful boy."

"It's going to be alright, Mama....." Sylas said, "Don't worry about it."

"Your father can be a piece of work sometimes." Saera sniffed, "But he means well."

"I know." Sylas said softly

She pulled away, rubbing his cheek with her thumb, "You always have a home here. Don't forget that. Ever." She said softly, "I will always be your Mother."

"It's just three years, Mum." Riktor rolled his eyes, "And he's going to the Westerlands, not like he's going to Essos."

Saera scowled and reached for his ear, pulling on it, "You!" She exclaimed, "How could you be so cruel like your Father?!'

"Ah! Sorry! Let me go!" Riktor exclaimed, "Now I see where Astorias got it from!"

Sylas chuckled, "Be nice to her, brother." He said, "She loves us dearly."

"I do." Saera said as she let go of Riktor, "I love you both so much. Your siblings, too...."

"Hm...." Riktor rubbed his ear, "Right...."

Sylas nodded, "We know."

"Have you said goodbye to Mya? Maegelle?" Saera asked Sylas, "They will miss you too."

Sylas nodded again, "Yes, Mama." He said, "I have."

"Good." She said softly, "When you come back.....you will have another sibling."

"Oh?" Sylas said with a look of surprise, "Another one? You're with child?"

"I am sure I am." Saera smiled, "Your Father and I got busy."

"Yea, I bet." Riktor muttered, "And there are plenty of kids already...."

"Not enough for the love I have for you all." Saera said with a smile, "I may not be a good person, but I love all of you with all my heart."

"Don't say that." Sylas frowned, "I don't think that of you at all."

"You're a good person."

[Near Volantis, A Few Months Later]

Maegor stood at the top of a plateau, looking at the area in front of him. There was a small village in the distance, and according to information he was given, there was a gathering of the Red Cult happening in said village.

His eyes seemed tired; it was noticeable even through his black sclera. His dragon rumbled behind him as it sat there, looking around to see if there was any movement nearby. Two Duskguard Knights were standing next to him, staring at the village in the distance.

"What is the move?" One of them asked

Maegor gritted his teeth, "We wait till nightfall." He said, "One of you will infiltrate the village and confirm the gathering. Send a signal, and I will go in and set the village ablaze. You will pick off anyone who runs away."

"Even the innocents?" the Knight asked, "That would be murder."

"Any women and children who surrender will be spared, to avoid your stupid murder." Maegor turned around, "Any other who tries to resist, kill them. Any man who surrenders, we hold them prisoner, and if they're cultists, we execute them. It is as simple as that."

"Very well." the knight said

"After that, we regroup with the others." Maegor said as he began to walk towards the dragon, "And we...hm?"

The knights looked at him, "What is it?"

Maegor frowned and looked around, "Did you hear that?"

"No...." the Knight said as he looked around, "What did you hear?"

"I am sure I heard a voice." Maegor said

The Knights looked at each other, "Did the voices return, Maegor?" One of them asked, "I thought Lord Drakken suppressed them."

"He did." Maegor said, "Which is why I find this to be odd...."

Suddenly, a wind picked up and caused some dust to create a wall next to them. Maegor's dragon stepped to the side and began to snarl violently as it swayed its head to the side.

"What is this?" Maegor said

Then, they saw a figure appear from the dust, wearing a cloak.

"The Tyrant." The Figure said in High-Valyrian, "The rumors were true, you were brought back from the dead, just as the Dragons were given life."

Maegor narrowed his eyes, "Essosi, you speak the Mother Tongue?" He asked in High-Valyrian, "Well, it is to be expected. Volantis is near."

"I am not just Essosi...." The Person said, "My kind is your kind. Different blood, same status, same birthright."

"My kind...." Maegor responded, "You are mad. There are no others like us."

"We can prove it to you." the Person said, "If you can come with me. We'll show you. We'll reveal to you that the Targaryens are not the only ones with Dragon's Blood."

"We are Dragonlords too....."
