House Of The Dragon-For The Queen, Not The Prince

Chapter 147: There Are No Happy Endings

(Third Person POV)

Shortly after the Final Dance by The God's Eye, chaos ensued in the Capital.

The entirety of the realm was recovering from the rampage that Aerion Targaryen unleashed, The Tully and Tyrell forces that remained were counting their dead, taking a breather from the battles they had gone through. Despite being the Queen's forces, their morale wasn't exactly that high. There was nothing but devastation caused by the dragons, ashes and smoke remained.

After hearing of the presumed death of Helaena Targaryen, the smallfolk began to riot violently, storming the Red Keep as the fools that guarded it were not able to close the gates in time. Not only did this happen, but the Dragonpit was also stormed, and hordes of smallfolk burst through and began to butcher the young dragons.

Throughout the chaos, Dreamfyre flew up into the cavern ceiling, crashing hard and causing a serious collapse. The collapse killed not only the dragon but the smallfolk that had swarmed into the dragonpit.

Queen Rhaenyra could do anything to stop it, pleading with her men to not kill anyone as she tried to inform the smallfolk that were in the Red Keep that Helaena's presumed death was not her fault. They were outside, trying to force their way through the drawbridge as her men created a barricade.

They didn't listen.

They were able to barge through and they were angry. Amid the chaos, Prince Joffrey Velaryon was crushed by the mob, which completely shocked and devastated Rhaenyra as her Queensguard had no choice but to take a couple of heads due to this. During her agony, Rhaenyra could not help but ignore the smallfolk as Syrax descended from the sky and was able to push them back.

Rhaenyra was in despair; she had lost three of her sons due to the conflict and she was confused at what had happened to Helaena. Her body was nowhere to be found but the word of her death spread out through the city like wildfire.

It is said that the cause of these riots, once again, were the men known as Grey Snake and Sterling. But those men would simply stay in the shadows and reap the rewards caused by the chaos.

As if it could not get any worse, Aegon Targaryen returned. And he came back with a violent retribution. A battle happened above the capital, between him and Baela atop their dragons. Sunfyre had managed to recover from his wounds suffered in The Vale and he was more aggressive than before.

It was that aggression that helped him kill Moondancer, digging his teeth into Baela's dragon's neck and ripped it apart. Moondancer was able to land safely in the city before bleeding out, forcing Baela to flee.

Rhaena tried to repel Aegon with Silverwing, but her inexperience in dragon riding, especially compared to Aegon was a great disadvantage. Sunfyre was able to wound Silverwing and force her to crash against the ground, almost killing Rhaena but fortunately, it did not happen.

Nobody knows how Sunfyre, the Golden Dragon, was able to garner so much strength and aggression since his last battle. But the fact was that he was able to defeat two dragons in a short time. One would say that there was an unknown outside interference that aided him in doing so.

And if Sunfyre wasn't done with two dragons, one much larger than himself, he immediately attacked Syrax, who was not in the skies. The Usurper's dragon ripped apart the Queen's mount by her neck, leaving her body bleeding out for everyone to see.

Aegon, The Older, limped through the Red Keep, his loyalists aiding him as they forced their way to the Throne Room. They used a shocking revelation to keep everyone at bay; Aegon, The Younger. Somehow, The Usurper came across his nephew and took him hostage.

When Rhaenyra saw this, she could not help but hesitate, facing off against her brother who had a vicious look on his face.

Everything was falling apart for Rhaenyra Targaryen; she had lost three sons, her cousins lost their battle, her dragon had died, and her son was a hostage in front of her very eyes. To make things worse, there was no word from Aerion, which worried Rhaenyra.

They had not seen each other since he flew to war.

And their reunion will be a heartbreaking one.

Right now, Aegon was before his sister, who had a look of despair in her face.

"Hello, Sister." Aegon said as he limped forwards, leaning on his cane, "It has been quite some time..."

"A-Aegon...." Rhaenyra said, "L-Leave him be, leave my son.....I....I have already lost too much...."

Aegon stopped and looked over at his nephew, the Younger, who was being stood between two soldiers, looking around in confusion.

"Three, right?" Aegon said, "You lost three sons, right? Such a shame, Joffrey.....I didn't foresee that..."

Rhaenyra's Queensguard stepped forth, "Let the prince go, Aegon." Ser Erryk said, "And no bloodshed will follow."

Aegon ignored him, "Three.....right, sister?" Aegon said with an angry look in his face, "You lost three....just like I did...."

Rhaenyra shook her head, "That wasn't me...." She said, "That wasn't us."

"So you say..." Aegon said with a glare, "But we're even now....that is what you get....You feel what I felt when my children were taken from me.....and now....Now, you seem to have taken it a bit further....You take Helaena away from me..."

"Aegon, t-that..." Rhaenyra started, "I have no idea what happened to her. I had no intention of harming her, Aegon! Never!"

"And my mother?" Aegon asked, "Did you butcher her like you had my children?"

"Alicent is alive. She's confined to her chambers." Rhaenyra said

"Good...." Aegon said, "I wouldn't know how to pay you back if you had killed her. I mean, our Father is dead and your Mother was dead long before we came along. But you took my wife from me....so how about I take away your beloved away from you?"

Rhaenyra shook her head, "Y-You..."

"Surrender and I give you my word no harm will come to your boy." Aegon said, "Finding him was surprising, a ship on its way to Essos. I wonder if Viserys was on the same ship....I don't know, they just pulled him out and handed him to me."

"D-Don't hurt him...." Rhaenyra said softly

Aegon then gave her a sinister glare, "I only plan to hurt you, sister." He said, "Fuck the Throne, Fuck the Realm. I want to hurt you. And not just you.... "

"I want to hurt Aerion."
