Chapter 150: The Ending
[Sometime Later...]
"T-The King!!" a servant ran up to Lord Tyland, "Lord Hand!!!"
Tyland Lannister, the Hand of The King, was walking down the hallway, "What is it?"
The Servant buckled over, "The King is dead!!" he shouted, "He just collapsed to the ground! He's not moving!"
Tyland widened his eyes, "N-No!" He said as he ran past them
After a few minutes of running, Tyland burst through the King's chambers and saw Aegon's body on the ground, blood coming out of his nose and mouth.
"Your Grace!!" He shouted as he ran up to him, "No!"
He crouched down and moved him, feeling his limp body in his arms. Aegon's lifeless eyes were wide opened, staring into nothing.
"No, this can't be...." Tyland said
Suddenly, Alicent burst through the door, "Aegon!" She shouted, "Aegon!!"
She ran up to them and pushed Tyland aside as she grabbed Aegon's lifeless body.
"Your Grace.." Tyland said as Alicent hugged Aegon's body, "I...."
"N-Noo...." Alicent wept uncontrollably, "M-My son...."
"Lord-Hand!!" a guard shouted, "The alarms have been raised!!"
Tyland stood up, "W-What?!" He exclaimed
"A-An army of 55,000 strong are marching to the city!!" a guard said, "It's the combined forces of Houses Tyrell, Tully, and Stark! Lord Cregan Stark is leading them!"
Tyland widened his eyes, "N-No, the war....It's over...." He stammered, "There's no way they intend to keep fighting....it's too much....so much loss..."
Alicent stood up, "Where is the boy?!" She demanded, "Give me the boy! It was him! He killed my so!!"
She began to run past Tyland who immediately caught her, "Your Grace, no! His Grace's orders were that no harm should lay on Prince Aegon!" He exclaimed
"N-No!" Alicent cried, a crazed look on her eyes, "He killed him! Unhand him!!"
Tyland looked at the guards, "Go get Prince Aegon, I want him under protection at all cost!" He said as guard pulled Alicent off him, "And send a messenger to Cregan Stark, we'll negotiate a surrender!"
"A surrender, Tyland?!" Alicent glared at him, "You coward!"
"There is no point in fighting, Your Grace!" Tyland exclaimed, "So much death, so much fire....so much bloodshed.....a single man devastated the entire realm, they may not be Aerion Targaryen, but there is an entire army that wishes to avenge Rhaenyra! It's the only choice we have!! The fighting must stop!!"
A few months after Rhaenyra's death, Cregan Stark marched down south with his army, gathering Tully and Tyrell forces, and reached the Capital.
It was the famous Hour of The Wolf.
The remaining Green Loyalists surrendered, their King had already died due to unforeseen circumstances. After taking the Red Keep, Cregan approached Prince Aegon Targaryen, the son of Rhaenyra Targaryen, and named him the next King. Nobody in the council, those who had survived his executions protested to this as Aegon II had already named him Heir. There was nobody to succeed Aegon; his brothers were dead and so were his children.
Cregan Stark named several men on the Council, acting as Regents for the Realm until Aegon III came to age. Lord Tyland Lannister was indeed pardoned for his crimes, and allowed to have the position of Hand after Cregan ultimately left the capital and returned to the North.
When the topic of Aegon III's wife was brought up, many lords jumped to the opportunity to offer their daughters.
Cregan immediately shut down any offers and revealed that he had Aegon's elder sister Visenya all along, reuniting the two of them in an emotional moment. The two children hugged each other as they wept, tears overflowing and their cries resonating throughout the room. Nobody knew where Viserys Targaryen, their brother, was at that moment. Years later, he would reunite with them. Rhea Targaryen was safeguarded at Runestone the entire time and would be raised by the Royce Knights, as they raised her father.
Aegon III was crowned King, with Visenya Targaryen as his soon-to-be Queen. Cregan made the order that they would be married when they came of age and the Targaryen bloodline would continue through them.
Lord Tyland swore he would protect the two of them and that no harm would come to either of them. The Hand of The King saw through this and protected the two of them up until his death, years later. But that is a story for another day.
After Cregan left the capital, the Dance of The Dragons long ended, and the people of the Realm began to wonder what had become of Aerion Targaryen's fate.
Well, after Rhaenyra died to Sunfyre's flames, Aerion was passed out on the floor and began to bleed out in front of his own son.
Aegon II walked up to his son and picked him up, the poor boy was too shocked to even resist and walked away. The Usurper, despite his unyielding rage and hatred against his sister and cousin, could not bring himself to harm a child, no matter what had happened to his own children.
Aerion was left there, bleeding out in front of Rhaenyra's burning corpse. Aegon II was so sure that he was going to die to his wounds and did not bother to finish him off.
That was a mistake.
After that, Aerion's body mysteriously disappeared. Rhaenyra's remains were still there, Aerion's arm was still there, and so was Sunfyre's corpse with Lady Rhea lodged into his skull.
**************
(Aerion's POV)
I got the whiff of smoke in my nose and I immediately woke up, "A-Ah...!" I cried out as I leaned to my left
My entire head was throbbing and my body was shivering due to the cold. I had no idea what had happened, the last thing I remember was Sunfyre bathing Rhaenyra with his flames. Now, I was somewhere in the middle of the night, leaning against my left arm.
I widened my eyes when I realized that fact, "W-What?" I said softly, "I....I swear I lost this..."
I was also shocked when I felt that I had both eyes and immediately touched the left side of my face with my left arm.
"W-What is this?" I said aloud, "I swear I lost this.....maybe this is a dream....."
"Not a dream." I heard a voice say
I looked around, seeing that I was under the night sky of the Vale. I recognize the rocky hills in the distance, I remember riding my horse through this area outside Runestone as a child. I even vividly remember flying Vermithor over these hills. But something was off, there was a faint in the distance, off in the far horizon. It was a faint white light, flickering.
I then realized a voice had spoken, "Huh?"
I turned around and saw a woman wearing leather armor, tending the campfire with a long stick. She had black hair and dark eyes, looking at the fire she tended to. Her skin was fair and beautiful, the light of the fire reflecting off it. I then noticed a faint scar on the left side of her face, something that caused a sinking feeling in my stomach.
I looked at her with widened eyes, "Y-You..." I managed, "You're...."
She looked at me and gave me a warm smile, "Hello, Aerion." She said softly, "My beautiful boy, look how much you've grown."
"You've crossed over, hm?"
