How to raise a Russian Girlfriend!

Chapter 24: Ch. 24 - Meeting Alya again!

[I just had an enlightenment and realized where I was wrong when writing. I had a friend of mine proof read my entire fanfic and one thing he noticed that I lack was DEPTH in my writing. So starting from chapter 39, you guys might notice an improvement in my writing skills. So hopefully, you guys would still be there by then.]

After yesterday night's events, the moment Kenshin back home, he went straight to bed and plopped on his bed.

The next morning, Kenshin woke up feeling more refreshed than usual and quickly went to do his morning routine.

A set of exercises, which although doesn't bring any benefits to him, is enough to serve as a warm-up before he goes to do his thing.

"You're going out again, right?" Seeing him standing in front of the door, his mother noticed him and asked in curiosity.

To which, Kenshin replied with a nod of his head, though he's puzzled as to why she would ask him.

"Good, then bring your little sister along—you should bond with her, especially since you left for months, I'm sure she'll be happy to go with you." Hearing her word, Kenshin could already feel the annoyance that Tomoko would be.

"But-"

"No buts! You're her older brother, you should learn to take care of your little sister, what would happen to you two if me and your father died all of a sudden, huh?" Putting her hands on her hips, his mother pointed her finger accusedly at him.

"Okay, mom…" Mentally, Kenshin rolled his eyes.

"Good, I knew you always loved your little sister, so go call her and make sure she's exposed to the sun and let her touch some grass, she's been holed up in her room for the past few months." Nodding his head at her words, Kenshin walked up the stairs.

As Kenshin arrived in front of Tomoko's room, he was about to knock when the door suddenly groaned open—revealing Tomoko, already dressed up in casual outing clothes while bearing a smile on her face.

Kenshin then noticed that something about her has changed.

Her eyebags disappeared and she no longer looked as frail as she used to be a few days ago.

'I was too focused on dealing with the Yakuza problem that I failed to notice her changes.' Kenshin muttered to himself.

"O-Onii-chan, we're going out, right? Let's go?" Touching her arm, Tomoko spoke with a blush on her face.

However, Kenshin's face turned dull and he replied with a monotone voice.

"You…You actually got mom into this?"

Facing the accusation, beads of sweat quickly rolled on her forehead and she shakily tried to clear her name.

"W-What do you mean 'I got mom into this'? I'm not doing anything!" Unfortunately for her, she made a grave mistake that Kenshin was quick to notice.

"Then why're you already dressed up, then? I wasn't planning to invite you in the first place if it wasn't for mom asking me to do so." Crossing his arms, Kenshin leaned on the door frame and smirked condescendingly.

"Kaghk!" Exposed, Tomoko was left with no choice but to clutch her chest and sniff dramatically.

"Y-You don't want to be with your poor little sister anymore? Are you going to abandon me? You're definitely abandoning me!" Tears welled up in her eyes and she loudly accused him.

"Oi! Oi! Shut up! Don't let mom hear you!" Kenshin panicked and he quickly tried to shut her mouth.

However, Tomoko seemed to have finally sensed his weakness and made her cry louder to the point that it caught the attention of their mother from downstairs.

"Is that Tomoko crying? Kenshin! What did you do to your little sister!?"

"N-Nothing!" Kenshin yelled back and he quickly leaned forward and whispered in a hurried tone.

"Fine! I'll bring you with me, just stop crying!" He grabbed her cheeks with his palm before wiping her tears away with his shirt.

"There. Better?"

"Sniff. Sniff." With puffy eyes, Tomoko nodded her head several times, granting a sigh of relief to Kenshin.

"Thank god, let's go." Wiping off his nonexistent sweat, Kenshin prompted to her before waking downstairs.

However, right exactly as Kenshin turned his back on her, Tomoko's face shifted into a sly grin.

'Mission success!' She yelled in her mind while jumping into a victory pose.

"Make sure to get home before 10, okay kids!" As the two siblings left, their mom waved them goodbye from the front door.

Behind her, their father, fresh from slumber, approached.

"I still can't believe it would be Kenshin who'd be able to get her to go outside the house instead of us. They're growing so fast." Sniffing, he wiped his tears of happiness away.

"Oh? So are you saying that I failed as her mother, huh? Is that what you meant by that?" Unfortunately for her, his wife thinks otherwise.

"Wha-My dear, what do you mean? I-I didn't mean that! I was just saying-"

"Inside.Now."

"Y-Yes, dear!"

Walking on the streets, their destination is the bus stop.

'She's been quiet since we left the house.' Giving her a side glance, Kenshin mumbled under his breath.

Taking a look at her right now, it seems like she's embarrassed to be outside.

Not only is her head down, but her eyes kept darting around like a nervous criminal about to do her first crime.

'Well, this can't go on. I'm her older brother after all.' Sighing, Kenshin snapped her out of herself.

"Where do you want to go? What do you think of going somewhere to eat first?" As soon as he spoke, Tomoko's face beamed up and she started to act as if a huge burden was just lifted off from her shoulders.

"Yes! I want to eat ice cream!" She smiled shakily.

'Well, no matter how perverted she is, she's still a kid, after all. I'm sure she's just going through some sort of phase like all children do, even me.' Chuckling, Kenshin raised his hand towards her before ruffling her hair.

"Of course you do. Chin up then, I don't want to see you act like this is your first time going outside with a companion." His words made her chuckle nervously, her eyes avoiding his.

'Right…Knowing her, this is definitely her first time going out with someone, especially the opposite gender.' Though Kenshin wanted to tease her about it, he refrained himself.

After all, isn't he just the same? Inexperienced in relationship things such as going on a date.

The last time he had a date, he abandoned her for the sake fighting against a Cursed Spirit.

That itself is considered a red flag by many.

Arriving at the bus stop, they waited for a while, in which they engaged in a short conversation.

Or in this case, it's more like Tomoko trying to start and maintain a conversation and despite how painful it is to hear her failed attempts, Kenshin still supported her like a good older brother he is.

"T-The weather is good today, isn't it?"

"It's sunny. Perfect for ice cream, just like you want." Kenshin replied.

"D-Did you know, my favourite singer is Ado."

"Mine's Miki Matsubara." Kenshin replied once again.

"D-Do you watch anime?"

"Yes, Narudo and Drag-So-Ball."

Eventually, Tomoko's tensed nerves had gradually calmed down until she's finally relaxed when talking to him, a great achievement for someone like her.

By the time the bus arrived and they boarded it, Tomoko was fully engaging in a conversation with Kenshin like a normal person.

"…And then the novel's author died all of a sudden, leaving his novel to gather dust forever."

Sitting side by side, Tomoko continued the conversation, ranging from video game topics to novels, talking nonstop.

As Kenshin listened to her stories in a genuine manner, he noticed a familiar white hair ahoge in one of the bus aisles.

He squinted his eyes, and casted a magic spell.

"[See Through!]" A special spatial spell that lets the caster's eyes peer through tangible objects, useful for assassination and gathering of information.

True to his expectation, the white hair ahoge turned out to be a familiar face.

"A friend of mine is here." Kenshin whispered to Tomoko, interrupting her.

"A friend of yours?" Tomoko's eyebrows furrowed as her chest felt a bit nervous by his words for some reason.

Seeing him standing up, Tomoko followed his figure with her eyes and saw him approach a white-haired girl.

"Gaahk!" Her body froze and she felt her entire being crack.

In the meantime, Kenshin grinned when he noticed that Alya was too engrossed in reading a book that she failed to notice him.

"It's nice seeing you here, Alya-san." Kenshin waved his hand at her before greeting.

That's when she finally noticed him and looked up.

As soon as their eyes met, a spark followed and she froze.

"Y-You. It's you!?" Alya's eyes widened in surprise and pointed her finger at him.

"Of course it's me. Who else would approach a cold looking woman who looks like she would bite anyone who tries to talk to her." He remarked while sitting on the empty seat beside her.

"…" Her eyes turned cold and she glared at him for the harsh words.

"I'm just joking, don't get mad." Kenshin nervously gulped and said with his hands raised.

Once she stopped glaring, only then did Kenshin continue.

"Anyways, remember the last time we met? When you stopped by that station? That wasn't your station, isn't it?" The moment he finished his words, Alya's expression didn't change, but she did looked away from him.

"Guilty as charged." Kenshin chuckled before continuing.

"So, can I ask why're you here? Sitting on a bus while reading a book. Are you on vacation?"

A shake of her head made him guess again.

"Meeting someone?" Another shake of a head.

"Passing by?" She shook again.

"Then why're you here then? Don't tell me you've been looking for me since we met?" Kenshin feigned a surprise yet touched expression, causing her to glare at him again with even more intensity.

"…Wait really?" Kenshin's face turned into disbelief.

"No! Of course not! I'm here for book signing!" Alya's face turned beet red and she quickly stammered to clear the situation.

"Oh, oh…" Kenshin's face turned into disappointment.

'Why do you seem disappointed?' Alya's mouth twitched as she mentally asked him.

Though a small part of her felt a bit of joy at seeing his reaction but her pride and personality didn't allow her to show it outside.

"And here I thought Alya-san finally misses me. I guess she wasn't that hooked with my magical display last time." Kenshin shrugged his shoulders and was about to leave when Alya suddenly grabbed his shirt.

"D-Don't leave yet." She silently whispers, looking everywhere but his eyes.

"Sorry what was that?" Although he already heard it thanks to his sharp ears, he just wanted to tease her.

"I said don't leave yet!" This time, Alya made her voice slightly louder but not enough to gather attention from the people around them.

"Hehe~ I know, I heard you in the first time." Kenshin finally revealed with a sly smile on his face.

"Y-You…" Her blush intensified and she gritted her teeth before slamming the book she was holding on him.

At the same time, she hurled curses upon curses towards him.

"Как ты смеешь так меня дразнить! Я не знаю, стоит ли мне тебя ненавидеть, если ты мне нравишься, но ты просто слишком раздражаешь! Blyat!"

Kenshin, who understood every word she says, felt his butterflies in his stomach.

Although he already had his guesses based on their previous encounter where she praised his looks in Russian, but he didn't actually expect he'd make it this far with her.

'Is it really that easy to make a girl fall for you or am I just too handsome?' Kenshin wondered.

"Okay. Stop it now, Alya-san. I'm sorry!" Kenshin quickly apologised when he noticed that the rate of her slamming the book on him is increasing and so is the force.

He's not afraid of getting hurt of course. It's just that, he felt like the book is starting to get crumpled due to the constant blunt attacks.

"Onii-chan~…" As if to add to his suffering, his little sister now stood in front of them, pouting and crossing her arms.

Her eyes glares at them, or more specifically at Alya.

Alya, seeing her, raised her eyebrow and stopped her assault on Kenshin.

However, when she heard her words and how she called Kenshin, her lips broke into a smug smile and she puffed her chest forward while brushing her shoulders against Kenshin.

"Kuwaakh!" Tomoko's glare was broken into pieces after seeing this.
