HP: Spirit Talker

Chapter 468: Chapter 304 Consequences

After the pact between Hermione and that pair of irreconcilable relatives, I felt like a squeezed lemon. All I wanted to do was soak in a hot bath for a few hours and then sleep until... well, for a long time. I had a lot of work to do: first came this creature who looked like a divinely beautiful woman if it weren't for the power she could squeeze, and I could see how much she wasn't human and how strong she was.

I think I'm even wrong, because the sensation of her presence was the same, or close to it, as the presence of Amaterasu in the body of an Avatar priestess. But if Amaterasu is the goddess of sun, warmth, life, then Eta is her complete opposite — she smelled of ashes, dried ashes, withering, death. I suspect she was some kind of near-divine undead, or a priestess of a deity of a similar element, i.e. death, who also controls her powers perfectly. But it's unlikely to be a priestess, because the deities of death don't need such games — they already have all the rights and powers, and they're outside any systems, so fading is out of the question.

No, that's a bit of a misnomer: Death Gods seem to be bound to either worlds or realms — at least that's what the rare works on the subject say, but I suspect they have some sort of "responsible areas" or something. But that's my speculation, which can be put aside. More importantly, I would have to forcibly and quickly give up all the magic of everyone present, including myself, just to have this creature thrown into the portal, which according to the algorithm should not only collapse without a contract, but also cut off the memory of the coordinates (if the summoned creature is capable of determining the coordinates of worlds).

And okay with that — a few rituals, a year and a half, maybe even two for restoration, and everything would be fine. But I doubt it would work with a creature of such a high level. I saw with my spiritual vision that the channel call would not be able to provide the transition for a being above a certain level (a powerful aura always "burns" — emits outward force, and if there is a lot of it, it will simply destroy the "weak" tunnel transition), the ritual would simply fail, but our first guest somehow discovered the channel, found out its purpose (or already had experience?), and then also energized her power to make the transition happen.

Logically, she may have had the ability and skill to determine the coordinates of the worlds, and therefore, if we simply pushed her away, the Lady may well be offended... and then my imagination just stops. I can't even imagine what she's capable of, because I've never seen what real miracles my dragon friend is capable of — about as powerful as this guest (presumably).

Okay, it ended safely — and let him... her! But the powerful seals, the most powerful ones available at the time, had to be activated, and even in "standby mode" they are terribly power hungry.

All I can say about this pair is that they're exactly what Hermione needs, and I was hoping for something similar, but not quite like this. I mean, beings with a pronounced "shade of power", i.e. "light" and "dark", are not going to remain indifferent to each other anyway, because they differ considerably, from the magic they start breathing in the womb (assuming they are born human-like and not from an egg or something) to the menu.

People may be relatively indifferent to a wizard of a different "color", but we are more concerned with how these differences are viewed in the local culture, and not always (remember the Church's view of magic, and how many people were burned and drowned simply because of accusations).

Hermione is a young, young witch whose balance has been forcibly shifted to the dark spectrum, but not critically, you could say she is currently in the "dark gray zone" but can easily and quickly shift to the full dark spectrum. And it would be okay if the girl didn't use magic during her "shift", but no, she managed to unknowingly put on herself a whole garland of various "evil and protective" curses, like "raped — fallen off the end", and so on (historical summary): In those days, churchmen considered themselves masters of life, they did not live in churches, but in the castles of local rulers, and they used any woman they wanted, otherwise, if he was denied his "legal right", he was immediately declared a heretic, demon worshipper, and so on.

And now let us remember that the power of witches is based on emotions, impulses of desire, and think about what a beautiful woman who has been taken by force by a holy man can desire? What could be worse for a woman than such violence? Here began all sorts of "strange" diseases among the priests, after "collecting a fair tribute from the parish", and at some point the "priests" took offense, and the first bonfire broke out).

Purely spontaneous magic on emotions — the strongest "trick" of witches, but here with these effects — this is a purely dark spectrum, even in a sense conscious, because Hermione wished exactly bad to her captors. In short, "displacement" happened, and again I wouldn't care about it, but the girl's talents are closer to neutral themes, even light, and it would be psychologically difficult for her to become a dark witch, plus "professional deformation".

But servants, familiars, spirits, or simply contractors with a clearly expressed light or dark spectrum would keep her on the same level — would not let her go deeper into darkness, but would not deprive her of the opportunity to "darken," as Alliel suggested. And what he was proposing was to deprive her and all her descendants of the ability to use "dark" and even "neutral" magic, leaving only the "light" path. How does that feel, eh?

I will not even mention the mundane, but so necessary in our world, occlumency — and the neutral, about household charms and spells, because, for example, skinning spells are actually dark, because they remove the skin and gut the animal in the same way as a human, except that the latter has to use more energy.

Thanks to the spirits, very few people ever think of using them in this way. But maybe that's because they don't teach it at Hogwarts. I mean, charms for the home, for comfort, for everyday life. They say they used to, but now they don't.

Anyway, everything turned out for the best, but Hermione was going to be down in the ranks of power for the next five years. Or rather, that's what anyone who wasn't "in the know" would think, and the matter of silence was agreed upon and secured by appropriate vows. I don't know what the girl's severe magical weakening will be written off as, maybe stress or something else, though I think anyone who has to read or has read "forbidden" literature will quickly figure out what's going on, especially when two "mentor-bodyguards" start hanging around the girl on a regular basis, and even with magic unknown here.

Alliel and Cain, thanks to the constant exchange of magic, will influence the full-fledged consolidation of the current state of the girl, fix it in the genes, maybe, if the three agree, the girl will even acquire some gifts. In short, we'll see how it turns out in the future, but now I was forced to devote my time instead of resting to the one who had been silently demanding it for the past few hours. Silently.
