Since that midnight encounter in the forbidden area, Jane noticed more people seeking her out.

This was becoming quite bothersome.

She hated dealing with so many people. For someone with social anxiety, excessive social interaction drained her energy.

It forced her to sleep more just to recharge.

Among those seeking her out were not only Slytherin classmates but even the Gryffindor protagonist group.

Harry Potter was one of them.

After every joint Slytherin-Gryffindor class, he would gaze at her with words seemingly stuck in his throat.

His best friend Ron would make a face like he'd eaten a vomit-flavored Bertie Bott's bean, joining Harry in staring at her.

Being targeted by the protagonist group was no good thing, Jane thought, physically distancing herself from them.

Leaving behind a dejected Harry and a scrunched-faced Ron.

Among her housemates who approached her was Theodore Nott.

He would deliberately sit beside her in class.

Fortunately, the boy wasn't talkative and was decent at Potions, making him tolerable to Jane.

These people at least followed basic social etiquette.

Unfortunately, some behavior bordered on harassment.

Specifically, Draco Malfoy.

He spent noticeably more time in the common room, "coincidentally" passing by whenever Jane left, loudly bragging to Crabbe and Goyle about sweets from home and his family's precious collections, while disparaging "pauper Weasley" and "Scarhead Potter"...

When she carried her books to class alone, Draco and his followers would trail at a distance - just close enough for their conversation to reach her ears.

Jane really didn't want to be forced to listen to a little brat's boasting every day!

But whenever she turned to confront him, he would act as if nothing happened, quickening his pace to walk ahead while maintaining the same distance.

What had gotten into him?

Jane wondered.

"Professor Snape went to Dumbledore and got me specially admitted to the house team."

"When Father heard, he not only praised me but said he'd send me a Nimbus 2000!"

"He even said he'd donate one for each team member!"

At dinner, Draco was animated, proudly boasting to the surrounding Slytherins.

As he spoke, his eyes kept darting toward Jane.

But seeing her focused entirely on cutting her roast chicken, he couldn't help but pout.

Dozens of long-eared owls suddenly swooped into the Great Hall carrying eight long, thin packages, drawing everyone's attention. The owls scattered along the tables, dropping one package in front of Harry and the other seven at the Slytherin table, nearly knocking over Jane's chicken.

The packages were unwrapped to reveal mahogany broomstick handles, beautifully streamlined and glossy, with neat, straight twigs forming the tail - seven pristine Nimbus 2000s, gifts from Lucius Malfoy to his son.

Marcus Flint, the Slytherin Quidditch captain, personally came to congratulate him, shaking his hand in gratitude for the Malfoy family's generous sponsorship.

This made Draco absolutely ecstatic.

He glanced at Jane again - she was still quietly eating her chicken!

Eat, eat, eat!

Was she a reincarnated hungry ghost?

This was his moment of glory - why wouldn't she congratulate him?

Draco fumed internally, deciding to redirect his anger toward Harry Potter.

"Potter!" He strutted over to the Gryffindor table like a proud rooster, snatching Harry's package.

"A broomstick." He squeezed it before tossing it back. "What model is it, Cleansweep Seven? That's all you deserve, Potter - rubbish."

Ron immediately jumped up: "It's a Nimbus 2000! What was it you said you had at home, Malfoy - a Comet 260? Not even in the same league as the Nimbus!"

His words played right into Draco's hands.

Draco turned to his cronies and snapped his fingers. They huffed and puffed as they brought over the seven Nimbus 2000s.

"Take a good look, Weasley. This is probably more wealth than you'll see in your lifetime," Draco retorted with a victorious smile. "I bet you and your brothers couldn't save up for a single twig in a year!"

Harry and Ron gaped at the seven gleaming Nimbus 2000s.

Their team captain Oliver Wood looked about to faint.

The Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff Quidditch players also noticed the seven shining brooms.

"Merlin's smelly socks!" they wailed. "Seven... seven whole Nimbus 2000s!"

"Looks like Slytherin's got the Quidditch Cup again this year!"

Basking in the shock of three houses and the praise of his Slytherin classmates, Draco felt elated.

He imagined Jane must be flushed with excitement now, gazing at him in admiration, ready to congratulate him when he returned to their table, becoming his follower... he could then graciously show her mercy, giving her a place by his side...

Just imagining it filled him with pride and satisfaction.

He confidently glanced toward Jane's seat.

Only to find it completely empty!

His little face immediately fell.

...

Jane had left long ago after finishing her meal.

She had detention with Snape.

Recently, she had committed two taboos - going several days without advancing her expulsion plan, and accidentally encountering Harry's group in the forbidden area, breaking her rule of avoiding the protagonist group.

I must deeply reflect on this, she thought.

Learn from these mistakes.

She decided to use this detention to advance her expulsion plan.
