"Not good! Monsters are pouring in from the 51st floor!"
A panicked shout broke the tension, and soon, a wave of Poison Demon Maggots surged in through the entrance to the 51st floor.
The scene was more terrifying than any previous encounters described in tales of the dungeon. These Poison Demon Maggots seemed utterly relentless, launching an all-out assault.
"AHH! MY HAND!"
"Don't attack them recklessly! Their poison melts weapons!"
"Help! Somebody help me!"
"Ahhh! It burns! Am I dying!?"
The anguished cries of low-level adventurers echoed through the halls as the swarm advanced. Each Poison Demon Maggot was as powerful as a Level 3 adventurer, and with hundreds of them rushing forward, the weaker adventurers stood no chance.
Amid the chaos, Finn, the leader of the Loki Familia, quickly took command.
"Hold the line! Everyone, form a defensive formation! Frontline fighters, hold them off! Magicians, start chanting! Archers and assassins, flank them to buy time for spells! All adventurers Level 3 and above, prioritize attacking the maggots!"
Finn's orders cut through the chaos, his tactical prowess evident even in this dire moment. However, the ferocity of the enemy proved overwhelming. The maggots' highly corrosive poison not only melted weapons but also rendered much of the adventurers' equipment useless.
Even the Amazonian sisters, Tiona and Tione, found their weapons destroyed by the deadly corrosion.
"Awaken!"
Ais Wallenstein could no longer stand idly by. Her weapon, imbued with anti-corrosive properties, remained intact, and as a Level 5 adventurer, she stepped forward to take the lead.
Clad in the green winds of her magic, Ais moved like an ethereal butterfly. Each elegant leap and strike brought down multiple Poison Demon Maggots, her sword a beacon of hope amidst the despair.
Meanwhile, Riveria, the Familia's strongest magician, began chanting a powerful spell.
"The prelude to the end... The vast white snow rises with the winds of dusk..."
Her chant resonated through the battlefield, a testament to the terrifying might of magic in this world. However, such immense power came at a cost: the spell required a lengthy casting time.
The adventurers fought valiantly, buying time for Riveria's magic despite heavy casualties. They understood that her spell was their only hope of turning the tide.
But before Riveria could complete her incantation, a voice echoed from the entrance of the 51st floor.
"Go, my Legion."
With these words, the atmosphere shifted.
Suddenly, from the shadows of the 51st floor, knights astride horses emerged, charging forward with precision. These knights were not human—they were made entirely of ice, their cold forms impervious to the maggots' corrosive poison.
The Ice Cavalry descended like a storm. In a single charge, they annihilated the Poison Demon Maggots, reducing them to ash and leaving behind only glittering magic crystals.
The Loki Familia stood in stunned silence, their disbelief palpable. Even Riveria, mid-chant, faltered.
"What… What just happened?" Finn murmured, his expression grim. "Riveria, are these ice knights a form of magic?"
Riveria shook her head, her voice steady despite the chaos. "No. I can't sense any magical fluctuations from them."
"What's going on, then? Where did these ice cavalry come from?" Tione asked, her gaze fixed on the ice warriors.
Beside her, Ais remained silent, her eyes locked on the entrance to the 51st floor. Something—or someone—was coming!
The ice knights, as if recognizing the moment, suddenly moved. To the adventurers' shock, they knelt on either side of the entrance as though awaiting the arrival of their king.
Step. Step. Step.
Footsteps echoed from the shadows.
Every member of the Loki Familia froze, their breaths caught in their throats. A figure emerged from the entrance—a young man.
He was strikingly handsome, with a warmth and charm that seemed out of place in such a perilous situation. Yet, despite his friendly appearance, no one dared to underestimate him.
Ais stared at him, her heart inexplicably stirred. The young man's gaze swept across the group, and an amused, almost self-deprecating smile crossed his face.
As he stepped fully into the room, the Ice Cavalry disintegrated into a flurry of snow and frost, blanketing the dungeon in an ethereal glow.
Standing amidst the swirling ice and snow, the man spoke with a tone of wry humor.
"Were you all lining up to welcome me?"
