Chapter 431: Chapter 432: The Descendant, Artemis
The dark night was quiet again after the Antaresn's destruction, and excitement filled the air. Members of the Artemis familia gathered around a roaring bonfire, their faces lit with joy. Tohru, ever the playful one, perched on Alexander's back, giving him an impromptu shoulder massage.
A short distance away, Artemis and Hestia sat together, watching the festivities unfold.
"Hestia," Artemis began, her tone soft and grateful, "thank you for your help. If it weren't for you, I'd have perished in the Revolving Heaven Realm. And these children of mine... they would have been doomed to reincarnation as well."
"Oh, come on," Hestia said with a playful grin, hugging Artemis's arm. She rested her head against Artemis's shoulder like a little sister. "Do we even need to thank each other for such things? We're practically family!"
Artemis smiled gently at Hestia's antics. Then, her expression grew serious.
"Still... you haven't told me the whole truth, have you? Who exactly is Alexander?"
"Huh?" Hestia froze, her face turning a shade of crimson. She fidgeted awkwardly before forcing a laugh.
"Who could Alexander be? Haha... he's just a member of my familia! That's all!"
Before Hestia could continue, Artemis reached out and tapped her forehead with a delicate finger.
"Don't lie to me," Artemis said with an all-knowing smile. "You and I both know that's not the case. Besides, your relationship with him... isn't quite what you're letting on, is it?"
Her sharp gaze reminded Hestia of Athena's wisdom, leaving her momentarily speechless.
"And what about Tohru?" Artemis continued, her voice tinged with concern. "She's a dragon, isn't she? That's something Orario would never tolerate."
Hestia sighed in defeat, realizing there was no fooling Artemis. "Alright, alright, I'll tell you the truth."
Hestia recounted the full story, her words tumbling out like a confession. By the time she finished, Artemis was stunned, her mouth hanging open in disbelief.
Alexander wasn't Hestia's familia member. On the contrary, Hestia was his familia member. And more shocking still—he was the Creator of their world.
"Impossible..." Artemis whispered to herself. She stood abruptly and walked toward Alexander, who was still enjoying Tohru's overly familiar shoulder rub.
"Artemis?" Alexander looked up, surprised by her approach. "What brings you here?"
Artemis stopped in front of him and bowed slightly. "Thank you for your help, Alexander. If not for you, I wouldn't be here right now."
Alexander scratched the back of his head awkwardly. "It was nothing."
Artemis straightened up, her eyes piercing. "Hestia told me... you're the Creator of this world. Is that true?"
Alexander stiffened. "What? No, no, of course not! That's nonsense!"
He quickly waved his hands in denial, his thoughts racing. If the gods learn the truth and decide to break their seals, I'll have to fight them all! No thanks!
Artemis wasn't fooled. "Don't bother denying it. Unlike Hestia, I'm not one to gossip. Your secret is safe with me."
She casually dissed Hestia, who pouted from a distance.
Alexander shot Hestia an exasperated look. "So much for keeping it a secret, huh?"
"Alright, fine," Alexander muttered. "It's just a coincidence, that's all."
Artemis didn't press further but smiled knowingly. Then, with a sudden spark of curiosity, she asked, "Since you're the Creator... can I visit your world?"
"Huh?" Alexander blinked, caught off guard by the request.
A dozen thoughts flashed through his mind. Artemis, the goddess of chastity, the forest, the moon, and hunting—each of these domains held immense power. If he could bring her to his world, the possibilities were endless.
"Alright," Alexander said finally. "Just don't resist."
Without hesitation, he initiated the transformation. A brilliant light enveloped Artemis, and moments later, a voice echoed in Alexander's mind:
"Congratulations, Master! You've successfully transformed the target character, Goddess Artemis. You have gained a random ability: Power of the Moon God.
"Ding! By altering Artemis's fate, you've gained another random ability: Power of the God of Hunting."
Alexander couldn't help but grin. Artemis was a main god-level entity, capable of unimaginable destruction. To gain her power so easily? This was a windfall beyond belief.
Artemis, now standing before him, looked down shyly, her cheeks flushed. "Is Alexander happy because of me?" she wondered to herself.
Alexander, oblivious to her thoughts, was already basking in his newfound abilities.
