Hunter x Hunter : Germain Joins The Hunt

Chapter 263: Chapter 246.2 : Toward East Gorteau!!

"If it's possible, I don't want Chairman Netero to die, either. But… would Chairman Netero even want me to join at this late stage?"

"He would. He definitely would," Linne said with a sly squint of her eyes. "For all his stubbornness, even he has weaknesses. I spoke to him about this just last night."

Then, Linne reached under the blanket covering her lap and pulled out a phone. She dialed a number and handed it to Germain.

"Talk to this guy."

Germain took the phone, pressed it to his ear, and, as expected, heard Isaac Netero's voice.

"Yo, kiddo," Netero said, followed by a hearty laugh. "I've heard all about it. Nicely done."

He didn't specify what, but Germain could tell he was referring to the events on the Dark Continent.

Afterward, Netero's tone turned serious.

"Although this is sudden, could I ask you to go to the Republic of East Gorteau?"

The call between Germain and Netero didn't last long. After hanging up, Germain handed the phone back to Granny Linne.

Granny Linne took the phone, then gently grabbed Germain's hand. She shook it lightly, her lips trembling for a moment before finally saying:

"Just do your best. Don't push yourself too hard."

November 6th.

By this time, many people in the Limeiro Castle already knew that the situation in the NGL Autonomous Region had taken a sharp turn for the worse.

More and more people began to understand the heavy expression Germain had worn for the past few days.

When they heard that Germain was leaving Greed Island to go to the Republic of East Gorteau, they didn't need much explanation to figure out why.

The Republic of East Gorteau was just three small nations away from the NGL. It was clearly within the disaster zone of the Chimera Ant invasion.

What's more, according to information from the Hunter website, the Ant King and his three Royal Guards had already taken control of the capital of East Gorteau. They were beginning to establish a kingdom for the Chimera Ants there.

It was obvious that Germain's trip to East Gorteau was a direct request from Chairman Netero himself. The reason was clear.

Many professional Hunters were quietly waiting for a call from Chairman Netero. Yet, the fact that Netero only chose Germain made people curious.

Soon, they understood.

Outsiders might not understand, but they did. Germain was one of the rare few capable of traveling to and from the Dark Continent. His combat skills were among the best across the six continents.

Aside from Ging, he was even more suitable than anyone in the Zodiacs. In fact, they were relieved. It was a good thing that Chairman Netero chose him.

No matter what, Germain was one of their own from Greed Island. Since he was going to support Chairman Netero, everyone offered him their help and blessings.

With that support, Germain set off.

The Republic of East Gorteau wasn't far from Greed Island in a straight line. They were even located on the same ocean, making travel relatively convenient.

On the surface, the Republic of East Gorteau seems calm and peaceful, but in truth, it is already under the control of the Ant King, Meruem. However, normal entry into the country hasn't been completely halted yet.

The Republic of East Gorteau is actually a dictatorship. It censors all outside information and rules its citizens with terror. The nation's leader is Supreme Leader Ming Jol-ik.

Supreme Leader Ming Jol-ik is already dead. One of the King's Royal Guards, Neferpitou, turned his corpse into a puppet, creating the illusion that Ming Jol-ik is still alive and governing the country.

What even the Ant King and his Royal Guards don't know is that the "Ming Jol-ik" they're controlling is actually a body double. The real Supreme Leader of East Gorteau has been hiding overseas all along.

On November 7th, Germain set off on his journey and arrived in the Republic of East Gorteau the next day, November 8th.

However, he didn't land on the mainland of East Gorteau. Instead, he arrived on an island to the north, separated from the mainland by a strait. This island is also under East Gorteau's jurisdiction.

Germain followed the coordinates provided by Chairman Netero and found himself standing before a dense, sprawling rainforest.

He began his trek through the forest. After walking for most of the day, he was certain he was getting closer to Chairman Netero.

This certainty came from Germain's "En." He sensed an immense surge of Nen, shooting into the sky like a towering pillar.

But in the next moment, the Nen vanished without a trace.

This cycle repeated over and over, like a lighthouse beam guiding Germain's way.

The closer Germain got, the more he could feel the terrifying power of this Nen. It surged skyward in an instant, disappeared in a blink, and then repeated again and again.

Eventually, Germain saw a large airship parked in a clearing ahead of him. Nearby, there was an unnaturally sunken basin in the ground.

There, he spotted an elderly man with a short braid, dressed in a martial arts uniform. He was standing in a horse stance, fists raised, striking the ground with immense force.

"Boom—"

With each strike, the massive pit sank deeper into the earth, and the Nen pierced through the sky.
