Hunter X Hunter: I Got Stronger After I Died

Chapter 55: The Confrontation

One Minute Earlier.

On the rooftop of a building overlooking the fountain square, Silva stood at the edge, his long hair flowing in the wind.

He pulled out his phone, glanced at a short message, paused briefly, then put the phone away. His wolf-like eyes locked onto a few figures in the square below.

As night fell, the central fountain in the square emitted dazzling multicolored lights.

The light show, dancing along with the flowing water, captured the attention of most passersby in the square.

People smiled as they walked toward the fountain, and even the playful children ran laughing toward the spectacle.

Meanwhile, Chrollo and the other members of the Phantom Troupe avoided the crowds drawn to the fountain's light show.

They walked across the glowing patterns on the ground, moving through the elongated shadows cast by the fountain's display. From the opposite side of the fountain, they headed toward the edge of the square.

On the rooftop, Silva's gaze followed Chrollo and the group, gradually locking onto one specific individual—the Phantom Troupe's No. 8 member.

Staring at his target, Silva's aura surged like a raging torrent, and he raised his right hand. In an instant, his rippling aura sharpened into a jagged, spike-like form.

This pointed aura, resembling stalactites, was a manifestation of Silva's ability to concentrate his offensive power into a single point, a hallmark of an Enhancer-type Nen user.

However, as Silva prepared his attack, not a shred of killing intent could be detected in his aura.

His aura was like a violent river, yet there was no sound of rushing water.

This was the result of years of honing his craft.

Then, he made his move.

Silva leaped from the rooftop, and mid-air, the sharp aura surrounding his hand expanded into a massive, electrified Nen sphere over a meter in diameter.

He descended like a meteor, tearing through the night sky, striking his target—the Phantom Troupe's No. 8 member—dead-on.

Before the devastating attack landed, the scattered members of the Phantom Troupe—Chrollo, Pakunoda, Kortopi, Shalnark, Machi, Franklin, and the primary target, Lucius—felt a fleeting yet intense sense of danger.

The danger was like an electric shock flashing through their minds.

The terrifying thing about it was…

Even if they sensed the attack, their bodies didn't have time to respond.

With a deafening explosion that echoed through the city, the stone-paved square was left with a massive crater. At its center, spider-web cracks spread across the ground in a radius of several dozen meters.

Within the crater, Lucius lay dead on the spot. His back was twisted and deformed, caved in completely.

Silva stood next to the body, unfazed, and calmly pulled out his phone.

As for the remaining members of the Phantom Troupe, they had retreated to the fractured stone ground surrounding the crater, glaring at Silva with murderous intent.

The speed and power of his ambush needed no further elaboration. What unnerved them the most was the eerie silence after his strike.

Chrollo's gaze was cold and sharp, betraying no emotion.

In contrast, the other members shifted from initial shock to seething anger, their hearts still racing.

They knew that if Silva had targeted any one of them, their fate would have been the same as Lucius's.

This wasn't necessarily because Silva's strength was overwhelming—it was his ability to launch an unpredictable and deadly ambush that made him so terrifying.

Under the deadly stares of Chrollo and the others, Silva remained unmoved. Using the tip of his foot, he flipped Lucius's corpse over. Then, taking out his phone, he snapped a picture of the body's face.

He had deliberately avoided damaging Lucius's head during his attack to keep his face intact.

Given the Zoldyck family's reputation, such precautions were hardly necessary.

But Silva's decades of experience as a professional assassin had ingrained certain habits in him.

After sending the photo to his client, Silva immediately made a call to the designated contact number.

The call was answered after a single ring.

"The job is done. Transfer the payment to the account I specified earlier."

Silva ended the call without waiting for a reply, putting his phone away with practiced ease.

This simple act was enough to confirm his identity as an assassin to Chrollo and his group.

Chrollo's gaze remained cold and piercing, fixed firmly on Silva.

"You've killed one of my members. Now, you have two choices."

Chrollo's voice was calm, devoid of anger or grief, despite witnessing the death of a comrade.

Silva ignored Chrollo's words and walked out of the crater without saying a word.

As he moved, the tension in the air escalated instantly.

Machi and the other Troupe members, now standing at the edge of the crater, unleashed their full killing intent, glaring at Silva with unrestrained hostility.

At the same moment, the stunned onlookers in the square seemed to come back to their senses. Screams and cries erupted as they panicked and scrambled to flee.

The once-bustling square descended into chaos, filled with shrieks and the wails of children.

The fountain's light show, however, continued uninterrupted, its flashing lights and rhythmic movements indifferent to the surrounding turmoil.

Chrollo didn't stop his members from venting their emotions. He simply kept his gaze fixed on Silva.

The Troupe's foundation rested on its rules, no matter the circumstances.

And no matter the power of the opponent, the moment Silva killed Lucius, the rule of replacing fallen members was activated.

Chrollo removed his disguise—his hat, sunglasses, and other accessories—and casually tossed them aside.

He looked at Silva, his voice as calm as ever, and said:

"One: Accept my offer and join my group. Two: Refuse, and die here."

Hearing Chrollo's words, Silva abruptly stopped. He turned his head slightly, glancing at Chrollo, who was already in a combat stance.

From the wave-like ripples of Nen emanating from Chrollo, Silva could sense an undeniable intent.

"An impressive aura. This young man… is no ordinary opponent."

Silva silently assessed Chrollo before looking away, ignoring his offer entirely. Without a word, he turned to leave.

Seeing Silva's complete disregard, Machi and the others released their Nen to the maximum, baring their fangs and preparing for combat.

Chrollo, however, made the first move.

Whoosh!

Chrollo's figure vanished in an instant.

On the far side of the crater, Silva, still facing away, slightly raised his head.

The moment his foot landed on the ground, his body disappeared as well.

The next moment—

BOOM!

Two figures materialized in midair—Chrollo and Silva, locked in a ferocious clash.
