Hunter X Hunter: I Got Stronger After I Died

Chapter 63: Invitation x Invitation

August 28, 1996.

The Phantom Troupe suffered the loss of two members.

The silver lining in this misfortune was that, on the very same day, Chrollo had extended an invitation to a highly skilled individual who replaced Men'ei as the new No. 4 in the group.

For the Troupe, this was a timely way to cut their losses.

As a result, there was no longer any reason to dwell on the circumstances of Men'ei's death.

If there was anything unsettling about the situation, it had to be the personality and demeanor of their new recruit.

Even the seasoned members of the Troupe, who had seen all kinds of chaos and bloodshed, couldn't help but feel uncomfortable.

So when this so-called "top student" used nothing but a single playing card to massacre a group of bounty hunters, none of the Phantom Troupe members knew how to properly react to what they had just witnessed.

If they had to label this newcomer with a single word—

It would be twisted.

Utterly, disturbingly twisted.

That said, they weren't interested in analyzing where this newcomer's mental instability came from.

Once the massacre was over, the "top student" reluctantly agreed to join the Troupe. This willingness slightly eased the tension among the members.

However, the recruit's flamboyant and exaggerated body movements—especially the frequent hip thrusts—only deepened their sense of discomfort.

All in all, the Troupe was now only missing one more member.

What they didn't realize was—

The arrival of this new recruit would only bring more instability to the group.

Meanwhile…

Moro had no idea what had happened to Hisoka after he plummeted from the sky.

At this moment, he was already aboard an airship heading toward a border town.

Originally, he had planned to take a direct flight to Heaven's Arena, but an unexpected call from Kanzai changed his itinerary.

The date was now September 1st.

Today marked the beginning of the annual Yorknew City Auction, one of the biggest events of the year.

For collectors obsessed with rare treasures, this was a must-attend event.

For Moro, however, the Yorknew Auction was more than just an opportunity for massive short-term profits—it was also an excellent place to boost his Year Wheel's charge efficiency.

Unfortunately, he wouldn't be able to attend.

On this day, his airship landed in a town called Pritt, which was located near the Guganyu border.

About Pritt Town

The geography of Pritt was unique.

To the west and south, the town was bordered by swamplands and mountain ranges.

To the east, it had a port within the jurisdiction of the border authorities.

Due to the natural barriers created by the forests and mountains, land travel was severely limited. As a result, Pritt was only a town-level settlement, despite having an airport that functioned as a transit hub and tourist gateway.

However, its proximity to the border meant that law and order were practically nonexistent.

Smuggling was an everyday occurrence.

In fact, smuggling was the lifeblood of Pritt.

It brought chaos and crime, but also enormous economic benefits.

The authorities in charge of the region largely turned a blind eye to these activities—as long as they didn't become too disruptive.

Moro's Arrival in Pritt

After stepping out of the airport, Moro hailed an unlicensed taxi and headed to a noodle shop called "Red Dan", where Kanzai had arranged to meet him.

Sitting in the backseat, Moro gazed out at the buildings lining the streets.

None of them were taller than three or four stories, and they were all built from a deep red wood with distinct grain patterns.

The red-streaked wood was interlaced with gray-white bricks, creating a visual effect eerily reminiscent of white walls stained with blood.

However, Kanzai's invitation wasn't the only reason Moro had come to Pritt.

This town—practically a symbol of lawlessness and disorder—was also home to businesses operated by Nolan Gambino.

Based on intelligence provided by Argo, it was still unclear whether Nolan's underground "Menu" operation was connected to his businesses here.

But regardless of whether there was a connection—

Since Moro was already here, he wasn't going to do nothing.

Observation Habit

As the taxi drove through town, Moro maintained his usual habit of observing pedestrians.

Predictably, nearly everyone he saw was an ordinary person.

"Ordinary person… ordinary person…"

Moro murmured as he scanned the crowd.

On rare occasions, when he noticed subtle irregularities in the way someone's aura flowed, he would classify them as a hidden Nen user.

"Ordinary person… ordinary person… oh, a Nen user."

Suddenly, his eyes locked onto a particular individual standing by a roadside herbal medicine stall.

The person was heavily covered, leaving only their eyes visible.

They were wearing loose white robes, along with a large white hat that obscured most of their head. Their face—normally exposed—was hidden behind a medical mask, revealing only a pair of deep, jet-black eyes.

Moro only had a few seconds to examine this individual before his taxi turned a corner at an intersection.

"A woman?" Moro thought.

Her Nen flow was exceptionally stable, indicating solid fundamental skills.

As he mentally reviewed what he had seen, Moro reached a preliminary conclusion.

But what stood out to him more than her Nen aura—

Was her eyes.

Bright, clear…

If they had met in a more normal environment, Moro wouldn't have paid much attention to a woman's eyes.

But Pritt was different.

Throughout his observations, he had mostly sensed an overwhelming aura of hostility from the people here.

In contrast, the eyes of this female Nen user were like a white orchid blooming in a barren wasteland—a striking contrast to everything around her.

Moro made a mental note of her appearance, then continued scanning the streets.

Arrival at "Red Dan" Noodle Shop

Twenty minutes later, the taxi pulled up in front of Red Dan.

Like most of the buildings in Pritt, the noodle shop was constructed from red-streaked wood and gray-white bricks.

Even its wooden signboard was made from the same deep red timber.

The ink-like patterns in the woodgrain resembled splattered blood, adding to the unsettling aesthetic.

Moro took one last look before stepping inside.

Inside the Noodle Shop

The restaurant was spacious, with over twenty tables.

Since it was lunchtime, nearly every table was occupied.

With a quick scan, Moro immediately noticed that many customers had bulges under their clothing, indicating they were armed with guns or knives.

This was just further proof of how weak law enforcement was in Pritt.

Ignoring these minor details, Moro quickly spotted Kanzai, who was sitting at a table near the wall.

At the same time, Kanzai saw him and raised a hand in greeting.

Moro walked straight over and sat down.

Kanzai slid the menu across the table with a grin and said, "I figured you might still be in Guganyu, so I tried calling you on a whim. Didn't expect you'd actually be around."

"Shouldn't I be the one asking you that?" Moro asked, glancing at the menu. "Didn't your job already end? Why are you still in Guganyu?"

"Look."

Kanzai pointed at the television mounted on the restaurant wall.

On the screen, a silver-haired woman was being interviewed.

Moro looked at the screen, then turned to Kanzai with a questioning gaze.

Kanzai sighed. "That's the client I failed to protect."

"Huh?"
