Chapter 24: 024 Why Don't You Grab 100 Million Jenny?!
While Machi was busy tattooing, she explained the rules that Ronnel already knew, and there was no contradiction.
Not long after, Machi stopped her movements, and a lifelike multi-legged spider appeared on Ronnel's right shoulder, the number 8 in the middle standing out prominently.
"The tattoo is done."
After she spoke, Ronnel moved his arm.
The technique was impressive—no stiffness, no pain.
Then, lowering his arm, Ronnel noticed Machi holding out her hand.
"The tattoo is 40 million Jenny, explaining the rules is 30 million for one person, 60 million for two. In total, that's 100 million Jenny. No negotiations."
Machi's tone was flat, her expression serious, as if this was perfectly reasonable.
Ronnel: "..."
I nearly forgot, this is the same person who demanded 20 million Jenny to sew Hisoka's left hand and 50 million for his right.
Normally, people like this treat money like Nami, right?
But...
100 million Jenny? Why don't you just rob me instead?!
Ronnel's heart skipped a beat, and he stared at Machi sharply.
He had just barely reached the 190th floor of Heavens Arena and received a 200 million Jenny bonus.
And now, Machi was trying to take half of it! What a joke!
"No money, no deal."
"Really? Well, if someone breaks your arm in the future and you need me to sew it back, the price will double."
"Don't worry, if anyone's arm gets broken, it'll be someone else's, not mine. You won't have to worry about that. Now, please leave."
Ronnel scratched his forehead in frustration and gestured for her to leave.
Machi didn't react much. After calmly glancing at him, she left without a fuss.
Well, except for Hisoka, who is No. 4, the No. 8 didn't pay either. Both of them said the same thing—if their arms needed fixing in the future, they'd pay more.
Machi thought indifferently as she disappeared around the corner.
[PS: Machi's rates for stitching? 10 million Jenny for the left hand, 20 million for the right~~~]
In the room, everyone else had left, and only Shizuku and Ronnel remained.
"Ronnel, who were those people? What's the Phantom Troupe?"
Shizuku stood behind him, staring at the spider tattoo with her big eyes framed by black glasses, thinking it looked pretty cool.
"The Phantom Troupe? They're..."
Shizuku's personality was so simple that she'd likely forget about Chrollo and the others' visit after a single night.
But it wasn't that she didn't care, she just kept her thoughts tucked away.
After Chrollo's visit, a sense of urgency stirred within Ronnel.
It was now September 1997, and only a year and three months remained before the start of the main plot. Time wasn't exactly on his side.
He needed to move faster.
Fueled by urgency, Ronnel easily overpowered his opponent and officially ascended to the 200th floor of Heavens Arena.
Those who made it to the 200th floor were either people at the pinnacle of their strength or skilled Nen users who had mastered their Aura Nodes.
Fighting on this level wasn't easy. Only Nen users had a stable footing here.
Above the 200th floor, it's the domain of the gifted.
Each fighter has a 90-day preparation period. They can choose to participate in a match at any point within those 90 days.
But if they fail to compete within that time, they lose their qualification.
To pass this stage, a fighter needs to win 10 matches, but if they lose four times before that, they're disqualified.
After securing 10 wins, fighters are eligible to challenge the Floor Masters of that floor to take over. A Floor Master enjoys both fame and a comfortable life. Floors from the 220th to the 250th each have their own Floor Master.
Based on the original series and the movie, the Floor Masters here are at Hisoka's level at best, perhaps even weaker.
After all, Hisoka had won every match, and the only losses in his record were due to his deliberate absence.
With Ronnel's current strength, he could challenge a Floor Master at any time, but for now, he was more interested in sparring with other Nen users.
After ten consecutive victories, Ronnel should be on par with a Floor Masters in strength.
At that point, he would find truly worthy opponents. Sparring would sharpen his skills, proving his strength with every match. There was no better practice than this.
Standing at the entrance to the 200th floor, Ronnel and Shizuku both felt the strong Nen aura radiating from the building, amazed by the power.
An unwritten rule on the 200th floor is called "Initiation," where Nen users target newcomers with tricks, testing their abilities.
Even newcomers to Nen fall prey to weaker Nen users who lurk at this level, preying on fresh challengers.
