Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Biscuit's Psychological Shock
Oboro and Hisoka had awakened to Nen at about the same time.
In just a few weeks, Hisoka had created a Nen ability that suited him perfectly.
How could Oboro, with his superior aura control, lag behind?
After becoming a Nen user, his understanding of the development of his abilities had expanded exponentially...
However, he had to balance several priorities: establishing a solid foundation, physical conditioning, and martial arts training.
More importantly, his Hatsu development wasn't easy; it was an ambitious undertaking.
For any Nen user, their hatsu was their ultimate weapon, their trump card.
It determined their ceiling as a Nen user.
Whether Oboro could reach the pinnacle of this world depended on his Hatsu development, so he couldn't afford any mistakes.
Throughout Hunter x Hunter, most Hatsu abilities remained relatively simple, their functions immediately apparent.
Many focused on singular manifestations such as Kurapika's Chains, Killua's God Speed, or Kite's Crazy Slots. These users prioritized functionality or combat optimization.
The more complex or powerful the Hatsu, the more difficult it became to control.
Sometimes, overcomplicating the Hatsu's design proved counterproductive. Simpler, more focused abilities often proved superior.
But Oboro had a unique insight; he understood its true advantages.
To reach the top of the world, he preferred to develop his Hatsu to its theoretical limits rather than settle for conventional power...
Among the Hunters, Chairman Netero had developed perhaps the most complex Hatsu.
The 100 Type Guanyin Bodhisattva!
Such an ability required incredible mental fortitude.
Given his natural talents, Oboro could follow a similar path, developing intricate abilities with complex conditions. The greater the scope of the ability, the more aura and mental calculation it required.
That was the disadvantage.
But the advantage? The ceiling!
Oboro's ultimate goal had crystallized the moment he entered this world and understood Nen... The peak he sought lay beyond where others had ventured.
The world of hunters was teeming with powerful Nen users.
To succeed, he would have to forge a new path... achieve what others thought impossible.
His Hatsu would be vast and complicated... Other Nen users might consider it unfeasible.
But what suited him best was best!
This path had clear advantages and disadvantages, a double-edged sword if you will.
Even Netero's Guanyin Bodhisattva, though massive, was relatively simple; the Chairman's boundless aura allowed him to manifest this form of combat.
Another crucial factor is that the skills developed must be practical, easily mastered, and integrated into combat. In essence, quick implementation.
Kastro's defeat by Hisoka was an example of poor Hatsu development.
An Enhancer creating a Conjuration-based clone ability went against his natural affinity, preventing him from fully expressing his power and wasting his potential.
Combining Oboro's Nen understanding, his knowledge of various Nen abilities, plus his physical gifts and temperament, along with his natural inclinations, he came to a conclusion: Games!
In his former life, Oboro had been a gaming enthusiast. All-night gaming sessions were routine.
Games were his element.
Perfect for implementation and practicality!
Currently, his Hatsu remained incomplete, offering limited functionality.
It was still in development.
He called it "The Game Archive of Endless Dreamers!
His goal: to create an entire game world!
Under the eyes of the crowd, a small button materialized in front of Oboro.
Seeing it, Aisemilu understood: "A conjuration type?"
Oboro pressed the button.
A tiny face appeared on the coin-sized button and announced: "Sys-system... startup."
The dreadlocked fighter heard it, instinctively sensing danger, and lunged forward.
He had to end this before Oboro could activate his ability!
But as his explosive punch split the air, Oboro dodged!
"!!!!"
Aisemilu's pupils constricted.
Watching his fleeing opponent, he realized, "This guy has adapted to my rhythm, he's growing in the middle of the fight..."
"Login... successful, initializing... game... parameters!"
The floating face button chimed.
Then background music began to play.
"Players ready. Begin game!"
The button spoke mechanically before disappearing.
Around Oboro, space distorted as pixel-like swirls appeared.
These dark portals resembled arranged pixel modules, mosaic like in nature.
"Resources look like minions. Not ideal, but workable." Oboro smiled slightly.
His Hatsu development required no overthinking. To manifest a game world, he could draw on his expertise. His deepest gaming knowledge came from League of Legends, a game he'd played for nearly a decade in his previous life.
The complete world he wanted to manifest was the competitive game space.
It encompassed five categories: items, resources, champions, maps, and rune abilities!
Currently, his game archive was limited in its ability to produce anything but random elements.
Oboro's ultimate goal was total control over every element of the game!
But that remained distant.
No training period was necessary, his knowledge ran too deep.
Soldiers in robes and pointed hats emerged from the swirls, carrying shields and swords, along with archers and even siege engines.
These game-based soldiers stood slightly shorter than humans, pixelated in appearance, but their numbers proved overwhelming. Within moments, they filled the arena.
The dreadlocked fighter vanished amidst the swarm.
Melee soldiers raised their weapons and advanced.
Aisemilu flashed between them, fists creating afterimages. He found these soldiers individually weak - two blows could eliminate one, their weapons barely threatening his Nen defense.
The problem was sheer numbers, their mass alone could be overwhelming!
Worse, arrows rained down constantly...
The melee units were manageable, but the archers really threatened Aisemilu. Every arrow found its mark despite his movements!
Seemingly 100% accuracy!
"Is this really just conjuration?"
The dreadlocked fighter couldn't believe it.
In the audience.
Biscuit, who had been entertained earlier, stood with sudden gravity.
Wing had never seen her look like that before.
"Is he really a Conjurer? That seems more like a specialist, or..." Wing swallowed.
"It's Conjuration!"
Biscuit inhaled sharply and nodded firmly.
"But his understanding of Nen exceeds my expectations! At his age, that level of understanding should take decades of study."
"Meaning?"
Wing looked back.
"Nen affinities are not absolute! They indicate natural tendencies. Someone could be 70% Enhancer, 20% Emission, 10% Transmuter, making them an Enhancer! Pure 100% affinities do exist, but they are rare! Most users have secondary affinities in adjacent categories, though usually weaker, Masters can blur these boundaries somewhat by using unique properties of their nen, but pure type users cannot achieve this..."
Biscuit watched the soldier swarm with burning intensity, "He's a Conjurer, naturally adjacent to Manipulation and Specialization!"
"Most conjurers primarily create weapons or tools, since it's conventional and effective for growth."
"But his ability combines elements of Specialization and Manipulation!"
"I should have seen it!" Biscuit bit her finger, shivers running through her.
Oboro's aura perception at his age was extraordinary!
That could only come from dedicated training...
Ironically, she'd assumed that he'd honed his aura perception to understand Nen's essence and improve himself in general, but now she realized her complete misunderstanding!
This path of development required his heightened perception!
Without such thorough aura perception, Biscuit knew that his ability would have failed!
Her eyes showed shock, confusion, and astonishment.
After all, such an understanding shouldn't exist in someone so young, defying common sense. If he were a century-old master, perhaps...
This level of achievement surpassed at least 90% of Hunters worldwide.
Biscuit had learned these principles from Chairman Netero in her youth.
Although Nen users could theoretically use multiple categories, most didn't.
Why not?
It proved inefficient!
An Enhancer mastering Enhancement... Why dilute that power?
But Oboro had found a way to perfect the concept!
Biscuit felt schooled.
His Conjuring ability incorporated aspects of neighboring types.
Most new Nen users couldn't navigate between categories, like expecting a first grader to understand university concepts.
By the time they got to University, their Hatsu was usually set; even knowing how to change it wouldn't matter without Oboro's level of mastery.
This required two elements: deep conceptual understanding and extensive knowledge plus an intimate attunement to the aura and life energy that enabled "transformation".
This was aura manipulation at its finest.
Knowledge could be gained, given time.
But understanding life... that required innate talent.
This explained her hesitation when Wing asked about matching Oboro's sensitivity.
Beyond Biscuit's shock, she suspected that even Chairman Netero would be astonished.
An absurd thought crossed her mind.
"Oboro can't possibly be an eighteen-year-old Nen user. Who is he?"
"Master...Master," Wing shouted repeatedly.
"I'm leaving!" Biscuit snapped out of her daze and turned abruptly, as if urgent matters beckoned.
"It's not finished..." Wing stared.
"No need..." The girl shook her twin tails, lifting her skirt as she fled without looking back.
