Chapter 34: Chapter 34 Kind Lies
Qianlong half-squatted in front of Dore, reaching out to pat her head.
"We're going home."
Dore's eyes regained a hint of liveliness as she looked at Qianlong and asked, "Big brother, will mommy come back?"
Qianlong hesitated and said, "When you grow up, she will come back."
"Really?" Dore couldn't help but look at Qianlong with hope.
Qianlong nodded. Dore turned her head to look at Father.
Dore's Father forced a smile and said, "Yes."
Dore nodded and softly said, "Let's go home."
Qianlong watched the two leave, taking a deep breath; it felt much smoother in his chest.
A communication request popped up.
Qianlong looked down and was somewhat surprised to see it was Geller.
"Accept."
Once connected, Geller appeared on the projection with a beaming smile.
"Mr. Qianlong, how have you been lately?"
"Is there something you need?" Qianlong asked directly.
Geller smiled and said, "Actually, I have an extra private commission. I wonder if you might be interested; of course, the reward is absolutely generous."
Qianlong asked, "What's the commission?"
"If Mr. Qianlong is interested, how about I find a place where we can discuss it slowly?"
"Alright."
An hour later, Qianlong met Geller at an inconspicuous casual restaurant.
"Would you like something to drink?"
"No, what's the commission?"
"It's like this: a spaceship recently sent out an exploration team, and they discovered a particularly rare mineral. However, something went wrong during their mining operation, and they lost contact."
"The spaceship has been moving forward; generally, failed missions have no chance of recovery," Qianlong said.
"Normally, that's the case, but the situation is special now. Many areas on the spaceship have been damaged and are under repair, and according to the plan, it will take at least ten more days," Geller explained the reasons.
"I have a question: since the previous team has gone missing, it's basically certain that something went wrong. Sending out another team likely won't change the outcome much."
Geller was not surprised by Qianlong's skepticism, as although Harvesters are known for their adventurous spirit, that doesn't mean they are willing to go to their deaths.
"Don't worry, this time the team will be led by the infamous butcher of the battlefield, Weibach. You can ask around; Weibach has a very good reputation."
"One last question, why come to me? You have plenty of Harvesters to collaborate with."
Qianlong raised his head to look at Geller.
Geller smiled broadly and said, "That's true, but very few can bring me back energy stones on their first outing. You are special."
"Is that a compliment?" Qianlong asked.
"It is a compliment," Geller replied.
"How will the payment be settled?" Qianlong said calmly.
Geller was in a very good mood, "As usual, you'll receive 20% of the value based on the quantity you bring back. By the way, I forgot to remind you, the resources to be excavated this time are quite valuable."
"How many Harvesters are going along?" Qianlong asked.
"Over a hundred, but I personally only gathered three," Geller said seriously.
Qianlong was somewhat surprised; that was much fewer than he had imagined.
"Because more isn't necessarily better. That place is extremely dangerous; only what can be brought back is valuable," Geller explained.
Qianlong was silent for a few seconds and said, "30% profit, I'll take this commission."
Geller didn't speak but quietly pondered, seemingly weighing the decision.
Qianlong didn't rush him; the deal was based on mutual consent.
"Alright, I agree."
"When do we depart?" Qianlong inquired.
"Let's set it for three hours from now." Geller didn't joke around.
"Then let's go." Qianlong stood up.
Before long, Qianlong returned to the E District hangar, which was much busier than the last time he was there.
Maintenance personnel were bustling about everywhere.
Harvester after Harvester was undergoing final adjustments, and several Harvesters taking private jobs were already in position.
Qianlong felt a very absurd sensation, as if private jobs had more allure. He quickly affirmed this feeling; he was the best example.
The profit from a private job could surpass that of a group by several times, provided one had the ability to secure the profit.
Geller was willing to offer such a high reward, which only indicated that the role of Harvesters in this mission was crucial.
"Kid, you're really working hard," Domon walked over to greet him.
"Mr. Domon, you're here too," Qianlong replied politely.
Domon sighed, "There's no choice; I owe Mr. Geller a favor from before, so I can only grit my teeth and go on this trip."
Qianlong smiled and said, "Maybe this trip will go smoothly."
"Let's hope so. The more paths you walk, the more you start to worry; it's not like you young people are fearless," Domon replied.
Qianlong didn't say anything more, just smiled and saluted Domon before turning to climb into his Harvester.
Domon watched Qianlong's back and couldn't help but shake his head, regretting that such a high-quality young person had to engage in such dangerous work.
Qianlong sat in the Harvester, checking various data; everything showed normal, and it was well-maintained.
Phantom's voice sounded, "Why take this task?"
Qianlong replied calmly, "For Points."
"We don't lack Points in the short term?"
"True! But we need to plan for the long term. No matter what we do, it's always good to be prepared," Qianlong answered with a sigh.
The passageway began to open, and Harvester after Harvester started to fly out. Qianlong quietly waited for Geller's instructions.
After about half an hour of waiting.
Geller's instructions popped up, and Qianlong walked toward the passageway.
Accompanying him were two other Harvesters, one being driven by Domon, while he was unsure about the other.
The three Harvesters flew out of the passageway and into space.
From a distance, ten special mechas flew over, directly joining Qianlong and the other two.
Qianlong could clearly feel that these ten mechas were somewhat different; both in appearance and equipment, they were not quite like those he had seen before.
At this moment, a communication connection was established.
A fierce-looking man with a face full of flesh appeared, "Hello, I'm Weibach, the Captain responsible for protecting you this time. I hope you can cooperate with us, not for anything else but for your own safety."
Qianlong had no objections; the more professional the other party was, the more satisfied he felt.
"No problem."
The other two voices answered simultaneously.
Weibach was very pleased to receive the answer, "Let's go."
The team began to set off, and at this moment, a document popped up.
Qianlong was also very interested; what kind of document required the task to start before it was given?
Task Content: A large search team sent by Hyberian discovered rare star crystal ore on a distant asteroid, but unfortunately, they encountered the Chijuz and were completely wiped out.
Task Requirements: Avoid the Chijuz and collect star crystal ore.
Below displayed the specific information about the star crystal ore.
