Chapter 798: Woke up...

A few seconds later, Yan Zijin and Zhao Tian entered the room.

Zhao Tian looked at the woman who was now sitting up on the bed, her back resting weakly against the cushion propped behind her.

The woman was dumbfounded for a moment looking at Zhao Tian's face, as he looked too handsome.

They looked at each other for a moment and smiled slightly.

"…You're Tian?" she finally asked in a soft voice and there was a trace of hoarseness in her throat.

Zhao Tian gave a faint nod. "Yeah. That's me."

She stared at him as if trying to piece everything together. Her lips trembled, her fingers tightening slightly on the blanket draped across her legs.

Zhao Tian pulled up a chair and sat at the edge of the bed, his hands resting loosely on his knees. "Good thing you woke up."

Yan Zijin sat on the bed beside her "Mhm, now her complexion looks a bit better."

"What's your name?" Zhao Tian asked in a faint voice.

The woman hesitated and her hand drifted unconsciously toward her necklace "Wei Ruyin."

Zhao Tian nodded. "Wei Ruyin… It's good to finally speak with you like this. Awake."

Her brows furrowed slightly. "How long was I out?"

Yan Zijin chimed in, "We are very unsure. But it's been a while since we came to the ark. But we were trapped in the rupture for so long."

Wei Ruyin blinked "I see. Haa.. my body also feels very strange."

Zhao Tian leaned forward slightly, "It'll take time. Your nervous system is still trying to recalibrate. The rupture must have shackled your entire body core, and you were also unconscious for many days."

She was still in shock to know that somehow, against all odds, she is still alive.

Then she looked back up at him "I owe you my life. I don't know how I can repay you."

"You don't need to," Zhao Tian replied with a smile. "You just focus on getting better."

A pause lingered before he added "But if you insist… maybe once you've recovered, join us for a round of Weiqi. She cheats."

"Hey!" Yan Zijin huffed and crossed her arms, glaring at him.

Ruyin laughed softly that made her body feel lighter "Weiqi, huh? I used to be decent at it."

Zhao Tian's lips curled into a smile "Then you'll fit right in."

With that he stood up and looked at Yan Zijin "Let's get water and food for her."

She hurriedly nodded her head "Mhm."

Without another word, the two quietly left the room.

Wei Ruyin leaned her back against the pillows, exhaling slowly.

A few minutes passed, and then the door opened again with a gentle creak.

Yan Zijin stepped in first, holding a small porcelain jug with both hands.

A ceramic cup dangled from her fingers, and her cheeks were slightly flushed from the hurried trip, but her smile was warm.

"Here," she said as she approached the bedside. "Drink some water first. You've been unconscious for so long. Your body must be parched."

She uncorked the jug and poured cool water into the cup.

Yan Zijin carefully brought the cup to her lips.

Wei Ruyin reached out slowly with her trembling hands.

Seeing this, Yan Zijin gently supported her hand, guiding the cup.

The first sip hit her tongue like reaching the heavens.

It trickled down her dry throat, easing the rawness.

She drank slowly, savoring each drop and she closed her eyes for a moment as relief washed over her.

When the cup was empty, she let out a long, soft sigh.

"Thank you," she whispered and her voice was steadier than before.

"Take it slow," Yan Zijin said kindly, placing the cup on the small bedside table. "Your body's still adjusting. It'll need time."

Just then, Zhao Tian entered the room, carrying a lacquered tray with practiced balance.

The aroma of warm broth and soft steamed buns drifted into the room the moment he stepped in.

On the tray there was congee cooked with herbs, slices of lightly seasoned tofu, and a side dish of stir-fried vegetables.

He approached and set the tray down on the table near the bed.

"Eat a little," he said gently, looking at her with calm eyes. "Even a few bites will help you recover faster."

Wei Ruyin looked at the meal, then at him.

She blinked, lips parting slightly as it had been so long since anyone had shown her such simple kindness.

She lowered her gaze, nodding once.

Zhao Tian handed her a spoon, and when her hand wavered, Yan Zijin instinctively stepped in again, sliding a small cushion behind her back to support her.

The first spoonful of congee was warm and mildly sweet, laced with soft herbs that soothed her stomach.

It felt like a small miracle.

Bite by bite, she continued, and with each one, a bit more color returned to her cheeks.

Zhao Tian and Yan Zijin didn't speak much.

They simply sat nearby, one watching her quietly, the other ready to help if she needed anything.

After eating her food, she smiled at both of them "Thank you... both of you."

Yan Zijin smiled back and nodded, picking up the tray and moving it gently to the side table.

Looking at Wei Ruyin, Zhao Tian asked in a gentle tone "Can you tell us how you were stuck in that rupture...?"

With a soft nod, she began to speak "Mhm, me and my family were on our way to a middle star for sightseeing."

"On our way, in the ark... suddenly a rupture appeared, and I guess everyone else in my family is... dead."

Her gaze lowered in distress "I somehow survived, I kept healing my body with my light energy again and again while getting swallowed by the rupture."

"I channeled my light energy, even when my meridians were breaking apart."

"I think that's how I managed to survive the rupture... but now my cultivation is broken."

Hearing this, Zhao Tian nodded faintly as he also remembered faint light energy on her body when they found her.

Wei Ruyin looked at them "But, how did you save me... from the rupture?"
