I am Gryffindor!

Chapter 7: A trip to remember part 2

When we entered the house, I immediately felt the strong magical presence of the place. Everything practically screamed magic, from the furniture to the floor. The place itself was very beautiful, most of it made of white marble, with engravings of griffins perfectly carved, probably done by a master in Transfiguration.

Our journey to what seemed like a meeting room was silent, but I didn't mind. I was paying more attention to the surroundings anyway.

When we arrived in the room, the atmosphere changed completely. The cold marble hallways were replaced by a cozy room with light wood, purple rugs, and matching armchairs. To the left, there was a large enchanted glass window that showed a beautiful, monotonous beach somewhere in the world. Near a fireplace sat a woman at a large corner table.

The woman wore a casual light blue dress, her silver hair falling below her shoulders. She had the same pale complexion as Mr. Flamel, but she seemed healthier, definitely not skeletal. She appeared to be in her fifties, and she must have been breathtakingly beautiful when she was younger.

Noticing our approach, she stood up with a smile.

"My dear, I was about to start eating without you ! " she said, smiling as she walked toward us.

"Don't worry, darling, we didn't take that long," Mr. Flamel said, kissing his wife's cheek.

"Reginald, it's been so long!" Perenelle said, now embracing my grandfather.

"Really ? How long has it been ? Three years ? " my grandfather asked, trying to guess.

"Fifteen, it's been fifteen years, Reginald," she said, looking at him with narrowed eyes.

Turning her gaze from the old man, her eyes finally landed on me, and a warm smile appeared on her face.

"And this must be your grandson. I've been dying to meet him," she said, walking toward me, and when she stopped in front of me, she extended her hand.

"Pleased to meet you, young one. I'm Perenelle Flamel," she said with a smile.

"The pleasure is mine. My name is Aurelius Gryffindor," I said, returning the handshake with a smile of my own.

After the greetings, Mr. Flamel spoke.

"Well, let's sit down, the tea is getting cold," he said, heading toward the table full of desserts.

"It's been so long since I've had Perenelle's cooking. It's delicious," my grandfather whispered to me as we walked toward the table as well.

The conversation that followed was boring, to say the least. Of course, there were interesting stories—two immortals with over six hundred years of life have some good stories to tell—but most of the conversation was about the good old days. I was bored within the first ten minutes, but my grandfather was right, those sweets were delicious.

As I sat there in my boredom, I began to notice a faint pulsing sound. It wasn't much, but it was enough to start bothering me after a while. Deciding to get away from the conversation, I spoke up.

"Mr. Flamel, where's the bathroom ? "

Pausing his conversation for a moment, he kindly answered me.

"Oh, of course. Leaving this room, take the right corridor, pass three rooms, left corridor, five rooms, and it will be there," he said as if it were the most normal thing in the world.

"Okay… if you'll excuse me," I said, getting up and leaving the room, back into the cold marble hallways.

~ 5 minutes later ~

I'm lost.

I must have taken the wrong turn or something. This place is massive. I've passed rooms with trophies, swords, potions, paintings, animals... I don't even know where I am anymore, and on top of that, there's that annoying buzzing sound in my head.

Stopping in front of another door, I realized something: the buzzing in my head had gotten louder, and it seemed to be coming from inside. Opening the door, I found another artifact room, but these seemed different. I could feel the magic radiating from them. These were the big weapons.

Closing the door behind me, I began walking through the room, and there was one stranger thing after another—a glass dome with a heart beating in flames, a head that seemed to be from a zombie moving its jaw, a sword made of ice. But as strange as everything was, I kept my focus on my goal: finding the source of the sound.

Following the sound, I noticed it was getting closer, more constant, faster.

Until I found myself in front of a large dark wood chest. The noise stopped. This must be the place. Crouching, I struggled to lift the heavy lid of the chest, and when I looked inside, I was stunned by what I saw.

Inside were two things: on top of a velvet cloth, there was a staff, but not just any wooden staff. It was a beautiful staff that seemed to be made of silver. The base of the staff was pointed like the tip of an arrow, its body covered in strange runes that reached up to the top, where a greenish stone rested. I'd seen many magical objects in this house, but this stone radiated more magic than anything else here.

And beside the beautiful staff was what seemed to be a large blue egg, covered in tiny scales. But unlike the staff, the egg seemed to be absorbing the magic around it, which was definitely curious.

Unable to contain myself, my small hand gripped the staff's handle.

The surface wasn't cold like I expected; it was warm, almost cozy. As I lifted the staff, I noticed it was taller than me, which was almost comical—seeing a child holding a staff that big.

I could feel my magic being channeled through it, almost as if it was urging me to use it. With a thought, the crystal tip began to glow with a beautiful bluish light.

"This is beautiful…" I whispered to myself.

"Definitely," I heard a deep, characteristic voice from behind me.

A chill ran up my spine, and as I slowly turned, I saw the three figures of my grandfather and the Flamels watching from the doorframe.

They all had surprised expressions on their faces, especially my grandfather, which shocked me because I'd never seen anything scare the man in my life. It took only a few seconds for me to realize the situation I was in: I had been caught red-handed.

' Shit '
