Chapter 54: Chapter 54:The Recruitment of Issho and Mikita

Jason's small boat cut through the waves of the West Blue, his mind set on the two targets the Treasure Hunting System had located—Issho and Mikita. Their combined location had cost 30,000 system points, but it was worth it. Jason had left his crew behind to train and took this journey alone.

After a week-long voyage, Jason set foot on Soja Island. The instant he stepped onto the land, his golden eyes narrowed.

A presence.

Massive. Immoveable.

Jason had fought monsters, but this aura was on another level—the weight of an Admiral-class warrior.

"This must be Issho," Jason muttered.

He followed the immense aura to a gambling house, where a tall, blind man stood near the entrance. His hand rested on a sheathed blade, his stance completely relaxed, yet Jason felt a pressure like gravity itself bearing down on him.

Jason stepped forward.

"Are you Issho, the wandering blind swordsman from Aoi Kingdom?"

Issho's head tilted slightly. "That is I. And who might you be?"

"Silvers D. Jason. Phantom Blade."

Issho paused, as if recognizing the name. "Ah… the young man who stormed Mariejois and freed the slaves. A rare breed of pirate."

Jason smirked. "I want you to join my crew."

Issho shook his head. "I believe in justice. A pirate's life does not align with my ideals. I am more inclined to become a Marine."

Jason's golden eyes flashed, and an aura of dominance surged around him.

"You would rather be a dog to a corrupt World Government?" Jason's voice was sharp as a blade. "The same government that taxes the weak into starvation, sells innocent lives as slaves, and lets kingdoms like your own fall into ruin?"

Issho's fingers twitched.

Jason stepped forward, his Conqueror's Haki flaring.

"I've seen the darkness of both pirates and the government. The world needs a new era."

Issho's expression remained calm, but Jason sensed his hesitation.

Finally, Issho sighed. "Your words carry weight. But talk alone cannot sway me. If you wish for me to join you, then prove yourself."

Jason grinned. "A duel, then?"

Issho nodded.

Jason turned to the gambling house leader and tossed a heavy pouch of gold onto the table.

"That should cover Issho's debts."

The leader's eyes widened, but Jason was already walking away.

Later that evening, Jason and Issho stood on an isolated island nearby, the sky burning in the hues of sunset.

Issho's hand hovered over his blade.

"Are you ready, young one?"

Jason drew Ace, the Pirate King's Saber. The blade gleamed, black with Advanced Armament Haki.

"Let's find out."

A moment of stillness.

Then, the battle exploded.

Jason vs. Issho

Issho vanished.

Jason's Observation Haki sharpened—above!

A downward slash came, the very air collapsing under its force.

Jason twisted his blade.

"Ryūsui Sen!" (Flowing Water Flash)

His form became a blur, evading the attack by mere inches as Issho's sword shattered the ground beneath them.

Jason spun, his blade screaming through the air.

"Tenro Kōsetsu!" (Celestial Wolf Snowfall)

A diagonal crescent slash, infused with Hasshoken vibrations, tore forward.

Issho parried, but the shockwave rippled through his body, forcing him back.

"Not bad," Issho muttered. "But…"

The very sky darkened.

Jason's instincts screamed danger.

The gravity around him spiked—so heavy it felt like a mountain was crushing him.

"Moko Boshi." (Meteor Fang)

A massive meteor-like gravity slash descended toward Jason.

Jason gritted his teeth.

"Tengoku no Muenjin!" (Heavenly No-Sword Formation)

He slashed the air in multiple directions, his Hasshoken-infused Haki cutting through the gravitational field itself. The meteor's force scattered into the sky, splitting apart.

Jason lunged forward.

"Ryūkansen: Senkō!" (Dragon Spiral Flash)

A corkscrew slash, moving at blinding speeds, aimed at Issho's side.

Issho blocked, but Jason was already gone.

Above.

"Bankai: Shisei no Ha!" (Deathborn Blade)

Jason's blade extended, the air around it vibrating violently.

He swung.

A dark, crescent wave of compressed sword energy, mixed with Hasshoken shockwaves, roared down toward Issho.

Issho smiled.

A single tap of his sword—

The attack reversed—sent flying back at Jason with twice the force.

Jason's golden eyes widened.

"So that's the strength of an Admiral-class warrior, huh?"

He gripped his blade tighter.

No holding back.

Jason's aura turned crimson.

Lightning crackled.

A massive surge of Conqueror's Haki blasted the battlefield.

Jason raised his blade.

"Tengoku no Rengoku—

"Heavenly Purgatory!"

His blade ignited in a mixture of crimson and black lightning, the ground beneath him cratering from sheer force.

He swung downward.

A colossal shockwave, larger than a giant's sword slash, exploded forward.

Issho stood firm.

His sword met Jason's slash head-on.

The island shook. The very clouds split apart.

For a moment—

Silence.

Then—

A thunderous boom erupted, a shockwave leveling everything in a mile-wide radius.

As the dust settled, Jason stood, panting, his clothes torn, but his blade still firmly in hand.

Issho lay on his back, chuckling.

"Impressive… Truly impressive."

Jason walked over and offered him a sake bottle.

Issho took it.

They both drank in silence.

The next morning, Issho and Jason returned to Soja Island.

They found Mikita, who, upon hearing Jason's offer to join, grinned mischievously and accepted immediately.

With their new members, the Nexus Pirates set sail back to Kano Country.
