I Am Okkotsu Yuta

Chapter 7: Adventure, Danger, And A Bit Of Romance

Two months had passed since Yuta began his life as a Jujutsu Sorcerer, and today he found himself once again facing off against Maki, Panda, and Toge in a sparring match.

The condition?

Rika is off limits.

The match had been intense, lasting ten minutes, and the field was torn-up.

Yuta and Maki were locked in a heated clash, his katana pressed against the edge of her halberd.

Sparks flew as they pushed against each other in a test of strength, both refusing to give an inch.

"This time, you're going down, Yuta."

Maki declared, her confident smirk mirrored in her eyes.

Yuta chuckled, sweat dripping down his brow.

"Let's agree to disagree, Maki-chan."

With a burst of strength, Yuta shoved Maki back just in time to dodge Panda's massive gauntlet-clad paw aimed at his back.

Pivoting on his heel, Yuta let go of his katana and caught Panda's furry limb mid-swing.

With an impressive show of power, he lifted the Abrupt-Mutation Cursed Corpse and slammed him to the ground.

Before Yuta could recover, Toge was already closing in.

The two exchanged a flurry of punches and kicks, their movements a blur.

Toge attempted an axe kick, but Yuta jumped back to evade it, only to notice Maki in the air above him, her halberd aimed straight for his head.

Yuta's eyes widened slightly as he heard Toge's voice ring out.

"Freeze!"

His body instantly locked in place, encased in a thin sheen of solid ice.

Panda cheered from his spot on the ground, pumping a paw into the air.

"The plan worked!"

Maki grinned, her weapon mere inches from Yuta's face.

"Looks like we got you this time."

Yuta, frozen but still smiling, managed to murmur.

"Not bad."

The halberd closed in.

But then Yuta vanished, leaving a ice sculpture of his image that instantly crushed by Maki's halberd.

Everyone froze, their eyes darting around in shock.

Maki landed gracefully, her stance ready, scanning for Yuta.

A whistle from the side caught her attention, and she turned to see Yuta casually leaning against the katana he had left embedded in the ground earlier.

Panda, bewildered, regrouped with Maki and Toge.

"What just happened?"

Yuta smirked and held up his katana, pointing to a blood mark etched onto its handle with a single kanji meaning love (愛).

"This is the Cursed Technique I got from a deal I made with a spiky blond-haired Sorcerer. Its called the Flying Thunder God. It lets me transport myself instantaneously to a marked location, but only if said location is marked with my own blood."

Panda's jaw dropped.

"That's so cool! You can teleport?"

Toge, ever succinct, added.

"Salmon."

Maki rested her halberd on her shoulder, her expression sharp.

"So, are you done Revealing your Hand?"

Yuta's smirk widened.

Without warning, he disappeared again and reappeared behind Maki, leaning in close to her ear.

"Boo~"

"Eep!"

Maki jumped in surprise, a startled noise escaping her lips as she turned around, her face flushed.

She swung her halberd instinctively, but Yuta had already stepped back, chuckling.

"That was a weird reaction."

Maki's cheeks turned an even deeper shade of red, and she pointed a finger at him.

"Don't you dare do that again!"

Panda and Toge were immediately awed, comically covering their mouths.

"That was so adorable, Maki-chan!"

Panda teased, while Toge chimed in with a cheerful

"Tuna tuna!"

"Shut it, you idiots!"

Maki yelled, her voice flustered as she began chasing them around the training field, her halberd waving menacingly in the air.

Yuta watched the chaos unfold, a warm smile spreading across his face.

"It really was a cute reaction though."

He muttered to himself, enjoying the lively antics of his friends.

Suddenly, a familiar voice spoke beside him.

"Look at you, Yuta-kun. Only a few months in, and you've already started flirting with the only girl in your class. I'm so proud."

Gojo Satoru said, casually draping an arm over Yuta's shoulder.

Yuta flushed slightly, glancing away.

He replied, biting back a smile.

Gojo laughed, a loud and carefree sound that echoed across the training grounds.

"Ah, young love. How nice it is to be young and innocent."

He teased, earning a groan from Yuta.

Turning to the trio still running around the track field, Gojo cupped his hands and yelled.

"Oi! You three, regroup! I've got an announcement."

Maki, Panda, and Toge slowed down and jogged over, standing in front of their teacher.

Maki still looked slightly red-faced, glaring at Panda and Toge who are standing near Yuta for protection.

Gojo clapped his hands together.

"Alright, listen up, class! I've got a mission for you all. There's an abandoned hospital that's reported to have a Cursed Womb. It might evolve into a Special Grade Cursed Spirit. Your job is to investigate and, if necessary, deal with it."

The atmosphere shifted immediately.

Maki straightened up, her expression sharpening.

Panda crossed his arms, and Toge adjusted the new face mask Yuta had given him, his usual easygoing demeanor momentarily replaced with focus.

Panda raised a paw.

"Uh, Gojo-sensei, isn't this kind of... above our grade?"

Gojo tilted his head with a playful grin.

"Normally, yes, but we're a bit understaffed right now. I'm tied up with a mission overseas, and the higher-ups are too busy being useless. So, you guys are the best option."

The trio exchanged uneasy glances.

Gojo raised a hand to cut off further protests.

"Relax, you've got Yuta with you. You'll be fine."

He said, gesturing toward Yuta, who was calmly munching on a sandwich he seemed to have pulled out of thin air.

All eyes turned to Yuta, who blinked at their stares mid-bite.

He glanced at his sandwich, then back at his classmates.

"You guys want some? It's spicy tuna."

He offered, holding it out with a sheepish smile.

Maki groaned, dragging a hand down her face.

"Idiot."

Gojo pointed at Yuta with a triumphant grin.

"See? Totally fine. What more could you need?"

Yuta finished his sandwich, brushing crumbs off his hands.

"Don't worry, guys. I've got your backs."

Gojo patted Yuta on the back, a proud grin on his face.

"That's my boy. Now, good luck, everyone! I'll be cheering you on from a sunny beach somewhere far away. Byeee!"

With that, Gojo vanished, leaving the group standing there, processing his sudden exit.

Maki huffed, shouldering her halberd.

"That albino bastard. Alright, let's gear up and get this over with."

"Salmon."

Toge said with a nod, signaling his agreement.

Panda stretched his arms.

"Let's just hope it's not too bad."

Yuta adjusted the strap of his katana, his expression resolute.

"Don't worry. We'll handle it together."

They exchanged nods before heading off to prepare for the mission ahead.

As the car rolled to a stop, Ijichi turned in his seat to address the group.

"We've arrived."

He said, gesturing toward the decrepit hospital building looming in the dim light.

Yuta, Maki, Panda, and Toge peered out the window.

The structure looked like it had been pulled straight out of a horror film: cracked walls, shattered windows, and an unsettling aura radiating from within.

The four stepped out of the vehicle, Yuta nodding respectfully to Ijichi.

"Thanks for the ride, Ijichi-san."

He said.

Ijichi gave a tight smile, clearly uneasy.

"Good luck, children. Be careful in there."

He replied, stepping back and casting a Curtain that enveloped the entire building.

The barrier was the last sign of the outside world as it sealed them in.

Maki turned to the group, her usual commanding demeanor taking over.

"Alright, listen up. Once we're inside, we're splitting up. Yuta, you're with me. We'll take the upper floors. Panda, Toge, you handle the lower ones. Got it?"

Panda gave a mock salute.

"Aye aye, captain."

Toge grinned beneath his face mask, saluting in agreement.

"Kelp."

The team stepped through the hospital's creaking entrance, the heavy doors groaning shut behind them.

Instantly, they were met with a mind-bending sight, the interior resembled the famous artwork Relativity by M. C. Escher.

Staircases twisted impossibly in every direction, walls folded into ceilings, and doorways opened to nowhere.

The four stood frozen, staring in awe.

"Well, that complicates things."

Yuta said, breaking the silence.

"See you guys later."

Without waiting for further discussion, he started up a nearby staircase that spiraled upwards.

"Oi! Don't leave me, you idiot!"

Maki shouted, glaring at his retreating back.

She sprinted after him, her halberd clanging against her back as she ascended.

Left behind, Panda and Toge exchanged glances.

Panda smirked, nudging Toge with his elbow.

"Wanna bet 2,000 yen that Yuta and Maki will be all lovey-dovey after this?"

Toge chuckled and shook Panda's paw.

"Salmon."

They both descended the winding stairs leading to the lower levels.

The spiraling staircase seemed to stretch on forever, twisting in impossible angles that only served to heighten the feeling of unease in the air.

Yuta and Maki navigated it with ease, their footsteps light but their minds alert.

As the minutes passed, the bizarre architecture of the building began to take its toll on Maki's patience.

"Where is this damn Cursed Womb?"

She groaned, her voice tinged with frustration.

She was starting to regret agreeing to this mission.

Yuta shrugged nonchalantly, his calm demeanor unwavering.

"Don't worry. We'll probably spot them on the next corner."

Maki crossed her arms, an irritated frown on her face.

"You said the same thing half an hour ago."

Yuta chuckled softly, his hands casually resting behind his head as he walked backwards, his eyes meeting hers.

"Patience is the key. All good things come to those who wait. We'll get through this eventually, love."

His last words hung in the air for a moment, and Maki's face immediately turned pink.

She quickly averted her eyes, trying to regain her composure.

"Don't call me that, idiot."

Yuta pretended to be confused, an innocent look on his face.

"Don't call you what?"

Maki was about to fire back a sharp response, but she froze mid-sentence as a massive, monstrous bulldog Cursed Spirit appeared behind Yuta, its jaws opening wide, aiming to devour him whole.

"Yuta, look out!" Maki shouted, but before she could move, Rika's arm shot from Yuta's shadow, appearing like a flash of lightning.

The arm swung up in a brutal uppercut that sent the bulldog flying through the air, crashing into the ceiling.

Before the cursed spirit could react, Rika's massive hand closed around its face, and with a sickening crunch, she crushed its skull in an instant.

Maki stood frozen, eyes wide in awe as she watched the scene unfold before her.

"What...?"

She whispered, her mind struggling to process the sheer force Rika displayed.

Yuta turned back to face the path ahead, his eyes calm as ever.

"What? You think I let my guard down that easily?"

He said with a smirk, the nonchalance in his voice almost casual.

Just as he spoke, more bulldog Cursed Spirits began to appear, their snarls echoing through the winding stairwell, eyes glowing with hunger.

Maki tightened her grip on her halberd, the weapon ready for battle.

"Rika-chan, its play time."

Yuta gestured Rika, the massive Cursed Spirit emerging from the shadows behind him, this time handing him the Split Soul Katana.

Yuta faced Maki with a playful smile.

"Shall we, Maki-chan?"

Maki, now fully focused and determined, nodded firmly.

"Let's do this."

Panda and Toge's mission had taken a strange turn.

They found themselves in a maze of sterile, white walls, each corner looking identical to the last, giving the whole space a suffocating, endless quality.

The air was thick with the silence, interrupted only by the occasional sound of their own footsteps.

"Toge-kun! Toge-kun!"

Panda called, his voice echoing in the empty space.

"Bonito flakes!"

Toge's voice responded from somewhere in the distance.

The two of them called out to each other, but neither could seem to find the other, despite the fact that they were near as they were separated by walls.

Neither of them noticed the closeness of their proximity, and neither could see the others just around the corner.

Panda let out a long, drawn-out sigh, his voice grumbling with mild annoyance.

"I wonder how Maki and Yuta are doing..."

He muttered, a little unsure.

"They're probably fine, right?"

He shrugged it off, trying to maintain his calm.

But then something caught his attention, a faint whispering.

He turned his head and saw them.

Two twin girls stood at the dead end of the corridor, dressed in unsettling white robes.

They seemed to appear out of nowhere, their movements too synchronized, their expressions too vacant.

The twins tilted their heads toward him, their lips barely moving as they whispered.

"Play with us…"

Panda blinked, momentarily taken aback.

They didn't seem like a threat at first, but there was something deeply eerie about the way they moved, the way they smiled.

A chill ran down his spine.

His instincts flared up.

After a quick assessment, Panda decided what needs to be done.

His eyes narrowed, paws clenched into fists, and with no further hesitation.

"Nigerundayo!"

He turned and bolted in the opposite direction, yelling out in a comically exaggerated voice.

The twins, still eerily whispering, tried to follow him, but Panda didn't care.

His mind was already focused on escape.

Meanwhile, his yell had echoed so loudly that Toge, still wandering nearby, heard it from a distance.

"Spicy cod roe?"

Toge muttered, confused by the cry.

He turned around, only to be faced with a bizzare sight.

A tall, unnerving figure stood in front of him, a tall nurse cursed spirit.

Her face was wrapped in bloody bandages, and her limbs were similarly wrapped, as though she had been pieced together from fragments.

But instead of fear, Toge's eyes were glued to something else entirely.

The nurse's exaggerated, conspicuous cleavage.

His face mask barely concealed the awe in his expression.

"Spicy cod roe..."

He murmured again, completely captivated.

But his appreciation was short-lived.

With an unsettling shriek, the nurse lunged at him, brandishing a massive syringe as her weapon.

Toge, with a calmness that was almost unnerving, pulled down his face mask and calmly issued a command.

"Don't move."

Immediately, the nurse froze in place, her body immobilized by Toge's cursed technique.

Toge sighed in relief, momentarily feeling at ease.

He adjusted his mask back over his face, completely unphased.

Just as he was about to approach her for... 'tactical reasons', Panda came running up behind him, tears comically streaming from his eyes as he skidded to a halt and tackled Toge with surprising force.

"Toge-kun!"

Panda yelled with an odd mix of joy and fear.

Toge, still holding his position with the nurse cursed spirit frozen in front of him, simply patted Panda's head.

"Tuna mayo."

He said, offering head pats to his friend's dramatic antics.

Panda looked up at the frozen nurse curse with the pair of huge 'personalities'.

"..."

He look back at the Cursed Speech user with confusion.

"Am I interrupting something?"

Toge shrugged, his voice as calm as ever.

"Tuna tuna."
