I Am Okkotsu Yuta

Chapter 9: Anything...

A very anti-climactic fight scene later.

The last of the Bulldog curses fell, its grotesque form dissolving into nothingness.

Yuta dusted off his sleeves with a sigh, his usual relaxed demeanor untouched by the battle.

"Well, that was nice."

He mused, patting Rika on the head as she happily devoured the remains of a particularly large bulldog curse.

Maki, resting her halberd on her shoulder, scoffed.

"That was way too easy."

She didn't let her guard down, but the fight barely felt like a warm-up.

Yuta sheathed his Split Soul Katana... if sliding it back inside Rika's throat could be called that.

With the battlefield cleared, Rika vanished and Yuta and Maki resumed their journey, navigating through the bizarre, ever-shifting corridors of the abandoned hospital.

After what felt like another eternity of walking through the endless bridge, boredom crept in again. Maki, needing something to break the silence, casually asked.

"So, your sword. What's the deal with it?"

Yuta shrugged, hands in his pockets.

"Ehh. It's nothing special. Just an oversized katana that can cut through anything, including souls."

Maki stopped mid-step, processing his words.

A long pause filled the space between them before she finally muttered.

"What the fuck, Yuta?"

Yuta blinked at her, tilting his head.

"Like I said, it's nothing special."

Maki slowly turned to face him, her expression deadpan.

"Only you would call a sword that can cut through souls 'nothing special.'"

Yuta chuckled, as if she was the one being weird about it

"I mean, it's just a Special Grade Cursed Tool after all. So your reaction makes sense."

Maki pinched the bridge of her nose, exhaling through clenched teeth.

"Unbelievable."

The conversation died down as they finally reached what looked like a massive storage room, filled with heaps of discarded mannequins.

Some were missing limbs, others had cracked porcelain faces, their empty eye sockets eerily reflecting the dim light.

It was an unsettling sight, but what truly drew their attention was the grotesque entity perched atop the pile.

A massive, distorted fetus, encased in a pulsating amniotic sac, sat atop the mountain of broken mannequins.

The sac trembled violently, its shape twisting as if something within was desperate to break free.

Maki tightened her grip on her weapon.

"So that's the Cursed Womb."

Yuta nodded.

"Yep. And look, it's about to evolve. Lucky us."

The Cursed Womb's surface began glowing erratically, waves of energy pulsing through its translucent form.

The pressure in the room shifted, the very air growing thick with malevolence.

Maki rolled her shoulders, twirling her halberd once before setting her stance.

"Alright, come on Yuta, let's abort this bitch."

She was about to lunge when a hand casually stopped her.

Maki turned sharply, irritation flashing in her eyes.

"What the hell is it now, Yuta?"

Yuta remained calm, his grip firm but not forceful.

"Just give it a second Maki-chan."

He said, his voice unnervingly casual.

Maki narrowed her eyes.

"Why would we give it a second to...?"

Then, as realization dawned, a bolt of understanding struck her like lightning.

"You want to fight it after it evolves, don't you?"

Yuta smirked.

"Am I that obvious? Besides, aren't you also curious?"

Maki groaned, rubbing her temples.

"You are literally the worst."

Before she could scold him any further, an unexpected noise echoed from the corridor behind them.

A very frantic, high-pitched feminine scream.

Both Yuta and Maki turned their heads to see a figure sprinting toward them from a distance.

A very familiar, very panicked, very large figure.

"Toge-kun, why did you do that?!"

Panda was running at full speed, comical tears streaming down his furry face as he wailed.

Behind him, a casually jogging but very fast Toge muttered.

"Caviar."

But the real spectacle was what was chasing them.

A towering Nurse Cursed Spirit, her bandaged face twisted in rage and embarrassment?, was charging after them, wielding an absurdly large syringe in one hand.

Her eerie, echoing voice filled the corridor as she repeatedly shrieked.

"HENTAI!"

While pointing the syringe at Toge.

Yuta and Maki stared, dumbfounded.

A heavy silence hung between them as they watched Panda run for his life while Toge remained unnervingly calm.

"Am I dreaming or something?"

Maki began.

"I... "

Yuta replied.

Neither could process the absurdity before them.

Unfortunately, their moment of confusion gave the Cursed Womb the exact time it needed.

A blinding surge of light erupted from the fetus-like entity, forcing all four sorcerers and the nurse curse to shield their eyes.

The energy crackled, pulsating through the room with sheer intensity.

As the light faded, they all turned their gazes toward the source.

The amniotic sac had burst open, its contents now standing in full view.

"Hehehehehe."

A humanoid figure emerged, towering and grotesque.

It had pale, almost translucent skin, its four beady eyes glowing with sinister glee.

A malicious grin stretched across its face, revealing rows of jagged, uneven teeth.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

The cursed energy it radiated was oppressive, its sheer presence enough to make Maki, Panda, and Toge stiffen.

For the first time in a while, real fear flickered in their eyes.

Only Yuta remained unimpressed.

"That's it?"

He sighed, running a hand through his hair, visibly disappointed.

"How boring. I waited for you to power-up for nothing."

The Special Grade Cursed Spirit paused mid-laugh, looking at Yuta.

Panda, Toge, and Maki all turned to Yuta with expressions that ranged from disbelief to outright exasperation.

Their friend had officially lost his mind.

Panda leaned toward him and loudly whispered.

"Yuta-kun, that thing you're provoking is a Finger Bearer!"

Toge, his voice uncharacteristically strained, muttered.

"Tuna tuna..."

Which in this case, clearly translated to, we're so screwed.

Yuta merely shrugged, completely unfazed.

"I know. I read the reports. Cursed Spirits that evolve after consuming one of Sukuna's fingers become Special Grade."

He gestured lazily toward the creature.

"That thing? Yeah, I get it."

Maki, her patience hanging by a thread, yelled-whispered at him.

"Then why the fuck are you pissing it off?!"

Yuta, ever the picture of nonchalance, smirked.

"It's called constructive criticism, Maki. It looks like this poor guy needs it."

The three stared at him, their expressions shifting from exasperation to outright disbelief.

Before they could respond, the Finger Bearer, who had previously been grinning with twisted amusement, was now glaring down at Yuta, its earlier laughter silenced by sheer offense.

Even the Nurse Cursed Spirit, who had been gleefully chasing after Toge not too long ago, took a few cautious steps back, sensing the tension in the air.

Then, with a sudden burst of survival instinct, the Nurse Cursed Spirit ran.

But she didn't get far.

The Finger Bearer lazily lifted a clawed finger and, in an instant, released a massive beam of cursed energy straight at the fleeing Nurse Cursed Spirit.

BOOM!

The attack caused an explosion so intense that an entire section of the room was obliterated.

The bridge the Nurse had tried to escape on collapsed into rubble, and her existence was instantly reduced to dust.

All four sorcerers watched in stunned silence.

Panda was the first to break it.

"...That was a lot of cursed energy output."

Maki, still gripping her weapon, turned and noticed Yuta casually walking over to the pile of broken mannequins.

He plopped himself down, crossing one leg over the other, looking wholly unimpressed.

Maki narrowed her eyes.

"Oi, Yuta. What the hell do you think you're doing?"

Yuta exhaled through his nose, tilting his head slightly.

"To be honest? I was expecting something a little cooler than the Finger Blaster 3000 over here."

He sighed dramatically.

"My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined. So… I'm gonna sit this one out."

The three sorcerers, and even the Finger Bearer, stared at him in disbelief.

Yuta leaned back against the pile of mannequins, a smirk playing at his lips.

"So, while I'm here, how about we play a game?"

Panda blinked.

"Yuta-kun… is now really the time for games?"

Yuta waved a hand dismissively.

"Relax, Panda-san, it's gonna be fun. Here's the deal: You guys face that thing in a 3 vs 1 fight. If you last at least five minutes, I'll buy you anything you want."

Silence.

Yuta's smirk deepened.

"And if you guys actually beat it, I'll do whatever you want, except for sexual favors. I'm saving myself for my special someone."

Now, that got their attention.

Panda, Maki, and Toge exchanged glances.

Then, slowly, Panda raised his paw.

Yuta nodded.

"Yes, Panda-san?"

Panda tilted his head.

"When you say 'anything'… you mean anything?"

Yuta nodded without hesitation.

"Anything."

Maki readied her halberd, her eyes gleaming with sudden interest.

"Anything?"

"Anything."

Toge pulled down his mask slightly, his eyes glinting with something unreadable.

"Salmon?"

Yuta, grinning now.

"Salmon."

Something shifted in the air.

The three of them, who had been standing in cautious anticipation just moments ago, were now staring at the Finger Bearer, no longer with fear, but with predatory intent.

Their previous hesitation evaporated.

Panda cracked his gauntlet-clad paws.

Maki rolled her sleeves, a dangerous smirk tugging at her lips.

Toge slowly pulled down his face mask.

The Finger Bearer, despite its overwhelming power and monstrous confidence, felt a shiver run down its spine.

For the first few minutes since its evolution, it felt watched.

Its malicious grin returned, but now there was a hint of unease behind it.

"Hehehehehehe..."

It chuckled darkly, attempting to regain control of the situation, before letting out a thunderous roar and unleashing its cursed energy.

BOOM!

The room trembled.

The sheer aura it released could crush lower-grade sorcerers.

But the three first-years didn't flinch.

"Anything..."

Panda and Maki echoed in perfect unison, their gazes locked onto their target.

"Salmon..."

Toge added.

Yuta watched from his seat with a bucket of popcorn and 3D glasses, grinning to himself.

"Well, this is gonna be fun."

He muttered before taking a handful of popcorn.
