I am Reincarnated to Rule the World

Chapter 3: Ch-3 Echoes of the Void

[So this is what death feels like.]

Zhou Long opened his eyes and saw nothing but an endless void stretching before him.

"Where… am I?"

Suddenly, the scene before his eyes began to shift.

His entire life started flashing before him.

He saw a child in tattered clothes begging on the streets for food.

A man kicking that same child.

A greedy elder taking him in as a disciple—not out of kindness, but to use him as a vessel for human pill.

Then, the boy killing the old man in cold blood.

Him exterminating a whole clan because they want to kill him.

Everything he had endured since childhood replayed before him.

Zhou Long drifted into deep thought, consumed by his memories. But then, a voice echoed in his mind, shattering his trance:

[Who said you were dead?]

Zhou Long's eyes widened. "Who…?"

There was no one else in the void—only him. And yet, the voice returned:

[This place is called the Eternal Void. I summoned your soul here.]

"Summoned my soul?" Zhou Long echoed, stunned.

He scoffed. "Tsk. Summon my soul? What a joke. I clearly remember destroying both my soul and body."

Everyone knew that once the soul is destroyed, there's no hope of resurrection or possession.

Suddenly, a deep laugh rumbled through the void.

[Hahaha… Is that so? Then how are you standing here ?]

Zhou Long fell silent.

He had no answer.

[Yes, your soul was destroyed in that explosion. By all logic, you shouldn't even exist right now.]

[ But for me nothing is impossible.]

[Don't overthink it. Just answer me this: do you want to live again?]

"Do I want to live...?"

The memory of being surrounded by emperors, the betrayal of his beloved disciple siding with them—all of it resurfaced in his mind.

Anger burned in his eyes.

"I do… but nothing in this world comes for free. So, why are you helping me?"

[Who said I was helping you?]

The voice replied playfully.

Zhou Long frowned. "Didn't you just say you'd help me resurrect and—"

[Yes, I will...]

Irritation flickered across Zhou Long's face.

"Can you stop messing with me and just tell me what you want? Who are you? Why are you doing this, damn it?!"

[Hey now.., what's with the foul mood? I'm your savior, you know. Show some respect.]

Suddenly, a man appeared in front of him—identical in appearance to Zhou Long.

But something was off. This version had two black horns sprouting from his forehead, eyes glowing a deep violet. He wore a black-and-red robe that radiated a devilish charm, and on his forehead glowed a strange symbol—one that emits darkness and evil.

"You… who are you? And why do you look like me?" Zhou Long demanded.

The man smiled.

[What do you mean, 'look like you'? This is my true appearance. You're the one who looks like me.]

Zhou Long scowled. "What kind of bullshit is that?"

In a flash, the man vanished—only to reappear behind Zhou Long, lounging on a black throne.

[To put it simply: I am you, and you are me.]

Zhou Long turned around, stunned. "Me? You? What the fuck you are talking about?"

" Stop with your nonsense talk and tell me directly what you want ? "

[It's not nonsense. It's just… beyond your current understanding. Hahaha…]

"You..."

This guy's really starting to piss me off. If I could just—

[—Kill me? Cut out my tongue and drive a sword through my mouth? Is that what you were thinking?]

Zhou Long froze.

"You... how could you—?"

[Of course I know. I know every thought you've ever had, and every one you will have. Because... we are the same.]

Zhou Long didn't want to believe it, but the truth was impossible to ignore. This being not only looked like him but knew his mind as if it were his own.

He asked, more calmly this time, "How are we the same?"

The man replied, "I am a Demon God. And you… are my reincarnation."

"Reincarnation…?" Zhou Long's eyes widened.

[To be precise, you're my 669th reincarnation—but the closest one to awaken me from my slumber. That's why you can see me now.

The others never had the fortune or strength to reach this point.]

Zhou Long opened his mouth to speak, but the man held up a hand.

[No time for questions. I'm fading soon. Just listen.]

[I am your divine consciousness. I've only survived this long by remaining in deep slumber. But today, you awakened me.]

[ There are certain conditions to awaken me, which you or my this reincarnation seems to fulfill that's why I am standing in front of you ]

[Back when you were the Demon God of the divine realm, you were the most powerful of all gods—a reputable member of the Divine Court. You comprehended a forbidden power, one no god should ever possess.]

[That power could destroy everything—worlds, realms, creation itself.]

The man's form began to fade. Noticing this, he continued quickly:

[Sigh… Seems this isn't the time to explain it all. Just know this: your mission is to grow stronger. And beware the reincarnations of other gods.

You are now the enemy of every god in the divine realm.]

He pointed a finger at Zhou Long, and a beam of light shot from his fingertip, embedding itself in Zhou Long's forehead.

[This is your cultivation method. It won't conflict with any other technique, which is one of its advantages. The rest… you'll have to uncover on your own.]

[When I was still a god, I had time to comprehend only seven chapters of this method. But each chapter granted me a deadly, unique skill—skills of unimaginable power.]

Now only his head remained.

[Let this be my final gift to you.]

With those words, his body dissolved into a swirling mist of purple and black, merging into Zhou Long. A mysterious symbol appeared on Zhou Long's forehead—though he remained unaware of it.

His soul began to fade.

Five minutes later...

Zhou Long's soul vanished into the silence.

The Eternal void return to Silence once more.
