I am the Emperor of Humanity across the Multiverse

Chapter 181: Chapter 181: Hearing

"An angel??!!"

Even though Guilliman hadn't been following the news in the main universe, he immediately realized that their father was preparing to create a semi-public "legion."

Ding—

"Transportation hub, arrival."

At that moment, as the elevator reached the designated floor, the tightly closed doors slowly slid open, bringing the three of them into the spacious hub area.

The hub was equipped with numerous rail systems and vertical takeoff and landing platforms, and their destination was a large platform just about a hundred meters away.

On the platform, a Thunderhawk gunship guarded by ten Thunder Warriors awaited.

As they walked along the safe path equipped with guardrails, a ground crew member approached Samuel Young and reported:

"Boss, the gunship is ready."

"Good."

Samuel nodded in response and continued to lead his sons and the Thunder Warriors into the gunship's cabin.

Soon after, the hatch closed. The ground crew responsible for checks dispersed, keeping a safe distance as the gunship's anti-gravity engines roared to life.

Once everything was confirmed to be in order, the crew piloted the ship into the sky, through the massive open doors, heading towards the blue horizon.

At the same time, four Ghost fighters tasked with escort duties followed closely behind, disappearing from sight in no time.

Inside the command chamber on the second floor of the gunship:

"Boss, we are expected to arrive at the UN Court building in The Hague, Netherlands, in thirty minutes."

One of the crew members sitting at the console reported to Samuel behind him, "Also, the UN requests that the Dutch Air Force take over escort duties once we enter their airspace. Should we disregard it?"

"No need."

Using the console screen, Samuel quickly browsed the real-time status updates and ordered:

"Notify the escort squadron that once the Dutch Air Force takes over, they are to remain on standby over the North Atlantic. Also, instruct the pilots to lock onto military bases tied to the remnants of the elites during the hearing."

"Understood."

After giving the orders, Samuel turned and left the command chamber.

Seeing him enter the adjacent troop transport area, Guilliman and Sanguinius immediately stopped their quiet conversation.

Sanguinius was the first to ask, "Father, will Guilliman and I be accompanying you to the hearing?"

"Yes," Samuel approached his two eldest sons, a self-deprecating smile on his face as he said:

"Who would have thought the UN would break protocol to hold a special hearing for Atlas, just for me? As the invited guest, how could I disappoint them?"

"Ha! What a desperate move." Guilliman, with his sharp political instincts, sneered, clearly frustrated:

"Father, the interception ten days ago should have been enough to intimidate all the small fries, yet they still think they can assassinate you to try and dismantle Atlas!"

From the information he'd gathered, especially the recent intense media campaign, Guilliman instantly realized that the "hearing on how to handle alien prisoners from the Reaper invasion and when and where Atlas built its space fleet" was nothing more than a trap.

The hearing, ostensibly to let Atlas explain the interception operation, was really about pressuring Samuel into sharing advanced technology in front of a global audience.

After all, the seeds of public opinion had already been planted. If his father refused to attend or to share their technology, it would give those hiding in the shadows — the remnants of the elites — a perfect excuse to attack Atlas's public image.

However, Guilliman suspected the hearing was more likely an assassination attempt planned by those elite remnants.

Given Samuel's business strategies and how he had taken control of half of the USA in such a "straightforward" manner, the elites undoubtedly wanted him dead.

But with Samuel's unpredictable movements and strict security measures, the elites couldn't find an opportunity for an ambush.

And now, this hearing would be their best shot.

"Control your emotions, child." In contrast, Samuel remained smiling as he cautioned Guilliman, saying:

"You think I can't see that? Don't forget, Atlas didn't come easy. I built it with blood and sweat, so their little tricks are far too crude for me."

"The hearing might be their best chance, but it's also our best opportunity to unify everything. You two just stay quiet and stand by my side."

Seeing that Samuel had already made preparations, Guilliman and Sanguinius let go of their concerns and responded in unison:

"Yes, Father."

A little over twenty minutes later.

In The Hague, an hour behind New Akra and separated from the UK by the sea, it was now a bright, sunny midday.

This city, home to only fifty thousand people and with underdeveloped infrastructure, was now bursting at the seams, its streets gridlocked with traffic.

All of this was due to the impending arrival of the mysterious, rarely-seen owner of Atlas at the UN Court building.

The UN Court, located in a seaside estate, was now completely surrounded by reporters. Only a select few journalists and photographers with clearance were allowed through security to the courtroom inside.

A media crew that had secured a good spot quickly started their live broadcast.

Standing in front of the estate's fountain, a female anchor in a light blue suit tidied her appearance before smiling professionally at the camera and began:

"Welcome to the live stream of Texas International News! I'm your host, Amy Parsild. In just a short while, Samuel Young, the current owner of Atlas, will be arriving at the UN Court."

As Amy Parsild introduced the scene, the Texas International News livestream chat was flooded with comments:

User3367: "Sigh, Robin and Jerry are still on the space station, so I have to watch the livestream here."

Name1237: "Same here. Honestly, this host is nowhere near as good as Robin. Ahhh, I miss Robin!"

ParatrooperVsEnemyFleet!: "Stop whining! Look at that! That's the Thunderhawk gunship, almost 100 meters long! Damn, it's huge! Military forums say its full firepower could wipe out a small country!"

SupremeWarrior: "After seeing the Selene and Phaedus-class ships on the Atlas website, I'm not that excited anymore. I'm just waiting to see how Mr. Young will respond to the UN's questions."

User3367: "Wait, is that really Samuel Young? Why does he look so tall?"

Name1237: "Wait a minute! Am I seeing things? One of the people following Mr. Young… is that an angel??!!"
