I Am The Only Witch Hunter

Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Silver I

Siderius grabbed her throat with his two hands.

"Don't be so happy now. You think I don't know your true nature? The moment I succumbed, I would've become your slave."

Lyara lost her airway. She squirmed underneath Siderius but couldn't get out. She lost a lot of blood and was heavily injured. She had no strength left.

Lyara stared at Siderius, her eyes glowed an even more intense pink light. A heart circled around her pupil.

"Don't waste your energy. Do I look weak-minded to you?"

Siderius applied more forces onto his hand. The witch choked, her magic was interrupted. The heart inside her eyes dissipated.

"You need to kill someone who is deeply in love with you to awaken, am I right?"

"I… Please… Mercy…"

Lyara's face was turning purple. Her pretty white face had become ugly to look at.

"No mercy. All witches need to die."

Siderius stabbed her in the eye. Lyara's body went limp. He had killed his first witch in this world.

[FIRST WITCH SLAUGHTER]

[ACHIEVEMENT REGISTERED IN RECORD]

[Congratulations, Master Siderius]

Siderius let out a long breath. He almost forgot he installed this feature into the system. It was a good feature to encourage young witch hunters. The kids like to show off their achievements and compare with each other.

Other than that, these achievements were completely useless.

The black bracer appears on his wrist.

"Activate manual mercury overdrive."

[MANUAL MERCURY OVERDRIVE ACTIVATED]

Mercury leaked out from the tip of his left hand's index finger. He drew a small Seal on Lyara's forehead.

[MERCURY -1]

Three core elements of Alchemy. Sulfur, Salt, and Mercury.

Mercury was for transformation. It was crucial to have it for a grafting mutation. However, it was also extremely useful in extraction. The element could focus all the energy of a substance into one solid form.

And then, by adding Salt, an alchemist could solidify it into a crystallized form.

The Seal lit up in orange as the body of Lyara slowly dissolved into pure energy. Siderius took a handful of Salt and dropped it onto the Seal. His right hand once again did a three Signs combination.

The first Sign, four fingers up and a curved thumb. Then draw a circle with your hand.

The second Sign, palm aimed downward, fingers curved into an umbrella.

The third Sign, curved fingers but straightened your hand, the tips of each fingers must touch your palm. Then smack it at the Seal on the witch's head.

Lyara was converted into pure energy. She turned into a rough small gemstone inside the palm of Siderius.

He had just performed transformation and crystallization in one Alchemy procedure. A procedure to extract Malevitus. It also goes by another name, essence crystal.

The essence of a witch condensed into a rock. For an awakened witch, this would only make them lose their power and sometimes degrade their level. But for a beginner witch like Lyara here, this procedure was deathly.

Siderius grabbed the essence crystal and put it on the black mirror of the system bracer.

[MALEVITUS DETECTED]

[ABSORBING IN PROGRESS…]

[ALCHEMIST HAS ACHIEVED A NEW RANK: SILVER I]

Silver flooded out from the black mirror. It spreaded to the entirety of the black bracer and slowly transformed it.

The bracer, S.Y.S.T.E.M., was not a different entity from an alchemist. It itself could be counted as a mutation. It bonded with the alchemist, honed the alchemical reaction and elevated the alchemist to a new level.

When the bracer absorbed the essence crystal of a witch, it did two things.

One, it upgraded itself. The bracer on Siderius' hand was now a shiny silver plate.

Two, it granted the user the ability to use Alchemical Sigils. A special, compact version of the Alchemy Seal that would not require preparation every time.

Sigil was one of the witch hunter core abilities. Many said that it was the counter-magic of magic.

Siderius could feel that his body was changed mildly and now was more flexible to conduct alchemical reaction.

[A NEW SIGIL SLOT IS UNLOCKED]

[S.Y.S.T.E.M.]

[USER: Siderius Satterblade]

[ ATTRIBUTES ]

[WITCH HUNTER RANK: OCULUS EXTIMA I]

[ALCHEMIST RANK: SILVER I]

[SIGIL SLOT: 0/1]

[MERCURY EXTRACT: 47/100]

[PSYCHOSIS LEVEL: 72/100]

While the Alchemical Barrier was still in active use, Siderius sat down and prepared to engrave his first sigil.

There were many kinds of Sigils that were invented by Alchemists and Witch Hunters throughout history. For a beginner, Siderius always advised them to have Celera, a sigil that could enhance the speed of a hunter for a few seconds.

This sigil could be used both offensively and defensively. And therefore, the best beginning sigil.

For a more methodical approach, a Sigil like Revela could be utilized. It could reveal trails that had just disappeared. Perfect for hunters that liked to trace their target.

Offensively, the Sigil Acuto was perfect. It could sharpen a weapon temporarily, making it way deadlier. Or perhaps, the opposite approach with Induro, making the weapon more firm to deal more damage. A sharp sword that was not afraid of being chipped and hit like a hammer would vanquish any enemy.

For Siderius' situation, he was in a hostile world that was dangerous everywhere. His core goal right now was to survive and to grow stronger.

Celera was perfect for beginning witch hunters, true. But those witch hunters were trained warriors and bodybuilders. This body was malnourished and had not been developed at all. Celera would be unnoticeable for Siderius.

Any offensive Sigils fell into the same situation. He couldn't focus on attacking if he couldn't even swing a sword right.

Utility sigils like Revela were a waste of time. Completely unnecessary.

Siderius needed something that would help him survive. Something that could help him buy some additional seconds in the most dangerous situation.

"Activate manual mercury overdrive." Siderius said.

[MANUAL MERCURY OVERDRIVE ACTIVATED]

Once again, Siderius used this feature of the system. The tip of his left hand index finger leaked out mercury again. He dipped it to his right hand index finger then began to draw a symbol onto the black mirror of the bracer.

The bracer turned into silver but the mirror stayed the same color.

To engrave the Sigil, a few materials were required but Siderius did not have them right now. He had no other options to use mercury as a substitution, the transformative substance.

Siderius started to engrave his first Sigil in this world.
