I am Thor

Chapter 201: Chapter 201: Killing God

Star-Lord's punch, thrown with all the anger and grief in his heart, landed squarely on Ego's enormous, glowing face.

It achieved absolutely nothing.

But the consequence of his action was far graver—Ego woke up.

The celestial energy surged out like a tidal wave, shaking the ground and reigniting the chaos. Rocket, who had been focused on guiding Baby Groot, froze in alarm. He grabbed the tiny tree and dashed for cover. "Abort! Abort! Ego's awake! We send Groot in now, it's a death wish!"

Thor arrived just in time to witness the aftermath of Quill's impulsive attack. The God of Thunder stood still for a moment, watching with a mix of exasperation and amusement. "If I didn't already know Quill's special brand of stupidity, I'd mistake him for someone completely reckless," he muttered, shaking his head.

Ego's form shimmered as divine energy coursed through him once more. His voice boomed, mocking yet condescending. "Well done, Quill. You've proven yourself to me again! You don't want to be mortal—you crave greatness, just as I do. Together, we will transcend the stars!"

Before Star-Lord could react, massive energy tentacles lashed out, aiming to capture everyone in the cavern.

"Kach!"

A brilliant flash of light streaked through the air as Stormbreaker cleaved the tentacles apart. Thor stepped forward, his expression steely. "Ego, you've overstayed your welcome."

Ego growled, his face contorting in rage. "Asgardian, leave now! You have no right to interfere in a celestial's domain. Turn back, and I may forgive your insolence."

The cavern trembled violently with Ego's words, rocks falling and molten streams bubbling beneath their feet.

Thor snorted, gripping his axe tightly. "You talk too much, old man. You can't kill me, but I can definitely destroy you."

The insult cut deep. Ego roared with fury, unleashing a torrent of energy that shook the entire underground space. Volcanoes erupted on the planet's surface, oceans churned violently, and the very ground beneath them began to collapse. The celestial's raw power was unrestrained, a storm of destruction aimed at eliminating everyone in his way.

Yondu was the first to fall, pinned under a massive boulder. He struggled to activate his whistle-controlled arrow, only to watch helplessly as another rock crushed it into pieces. Nearby, Gamora and Drax were trapped under rubble, unable to move. Onyxia, in her dragon form, fought valiantly against the energy storm, her scales glowing as she resisted the assault.

Star-Lord wasn't as lucky. Several energy tentacles pierced through him, siphoning his divine energy. As Ego absorbed it, his form began to shift, flesh and bone reforming over his skeletal frame. His voice, smug and triumphant, echoed through the cavern.

"I told you, Quill. You can't deny your destiny. The universe has chosen us for a greater purpose. Together, we will reshape existence. Why fight it?"

Despite his growing fatigue, Yondu managed to shout, "Kid! You're not fighting with power; you fight with your heart!"

Quill, weakened and dazed, closed his eyes and focused. For the first time, he felt the divine energy within him—its rhythm, its flow. Slowly, his fists tightened, the power within him igniting like a flame.

When he opened his eyes, there was no hesitation. "Ego…" he said, his voice steady and cold. "You killed my mom. And for that, you're going to pay."

The tentacles holding him snapped as Star-Lord surged forward like a rocket, tackling Ego to the ground. The two celestial beings clashed, grappling furiously amidst the chaos.

Meanwhile, Thor turned to the others, his voice calm but commanding. "Leave. Now. This place won't survive for long."

Knowing better than to argue, the group scrambled toward the surface. Even Yondu, who in another timeline might have stayed behind, trusted Thor to handle the situation. "Don't die down there," Yondu muttered before retreating.

The battle between father and son raged on, but Ego was losing patience. "Quill, you fool! If you let him destroy me, you'll lose your divinity! You'll become… ordinary!" His words dripped with desperation.

Star-Lord paused, his face unreadable. "What's wrong with that?"

Ego's eyes widened. "No! You can't—"

Thor took a deep breath, gripping Stormbreaker tightly. The axe hummed with energy, its edge gleaming with an unearthly light. He leapt high into the air, his silhouette framed by the swirling chaos around him. With all his might, he brought the weapon down upon Ego's core.

The impact was devastating. The protective shell around the core, reinforced by celestial power, held for only a fraction of a second before shattering. A blinding explosion erupted, consuming the entire underground space.
