Chapter 213: Chapter 213: The Legendary Meet the Parents
Asgard's grand palace, once a symbol of tranquility, was now bustling with an unprecedented number of visitors.
"I get the urgency, but was it really necessary to whisk us away in the middle of the night without a heads-up?" Peggy Carter's voice was sharp as she confronted Natalia. "What if something had gone wrong?"
Peggy's frustration was shared by many. One moment, the Trudheim estate was calm; the next, air-raid sirens were blaring, and a rainbow-colored beam had transported everyone to Asgard.
Natalia offered a sly smile, gesturing at Helen Zhao and Christine, who were still in their pajamas. "Relax. Thor arranged everything. He even cleared the guards and put Lady Sif in charge of Bifrost."
Peggy glared. "That's not the point."
Meanwhile, Asgardians were left gawking at the sheer number of arrivals. Never before had their realm welcomed so many outsiders at once. Even the dark elf invasion hadn't brought this much activity.
Within the golden halls, Loki took advantage of the commotion to continue his favorite pastime: stirring up trouble.
"Mother, do you see now? Thor is as reckless as ever," Loki said with mock concern. "He's practically turning Asgard from the realm of the Nordic gods into some Greek mythology knockoff."
Frigga sighed but said nothing, accustomed to Loki's antics. She knew his complaints weren't entirely genuine—he had long resigned himself to Thor's destiny as heir to the throne. Still, he never missed a chance to needle his brother.
In truth, Frigga had mixed feelings. Years ago, she and Odin had worried about Thor's singular devotion to his hammer. Their efforts to pair him with Lady Sif had been fruitless. But two decades ago, Thor had transformed seemingly overnight, shedding his naïveté and embracing life with newfound vigor.
Perhaps too much vigor, Frigga thought, eyeing the newcomers by Thor's side.
Thor strode into the hall, his presence commanding as always. "Loki, are you gossiping about me again?" he asked, his voice laced with amusement.
Loki froze, his smirk faltering as he turned to face his brother. "Me? Never! I was just praising you, dear brother. After all, you've managed to add two sisters-in-law to the family in record time."
The two women flanking Thor reacted differently. Onyxia, standing to his left, offered a playful smile. "Oh, I wouldn't dare. I'm merely a humble servant of His Highness," she said, her tone dripping with irony.
Jean Grey, on the other hand, bristled. She crossed her arms, her annoyance evident. Being pulled into this strange world was frustrating enough. While she appreciated Thor's kindness and the lack of prejudice against mutants here, Loki's comment was a step too far.
She shot Thor a pointed look. "Well?"
Thor grinned. "It's fine. My brother's resilient. He can take it."
Loki barely had time to process the remark before his body lifted off the ground. Suspended midair, he flailed helplessly as Jean gestured with a flick of her hand.
"Thump!"
Loki landed outside the palace with a loud crash, drawing the attention of curious onlookers.
Thor chuckled, clapping his hands together. "See? He's fine."
Jean lowered her hand, her expression calm, though her annoyance lingered.
Frigga, meanwhile, observed Jean with growing interest. There was something unique about her—something powerful. Frigga's sharp eyes missed nothing.
