I am Thor

Chapter 218: Chapter 218: Controlling the Phoenix Force

Thor had set aside his current concerns for the time being. The seeds of his plans had been planted, and most of the necessary arrangements were complete. While he was no stranger to leadership, Thor knew his strengths didn't lie in politics or intricate planning. Those tasks were better left to Onyxia and Loki.

Both were masters of cunning and intrigue, with a firm grasp of black magic and an uncanny ability to navigate extraordinary situations. Thor trusted them to handle these matters with precision.

As for the rest of his allies, Thor relied on a surprising source: Kingpin.

Though Kingpin lacked superhuman abilities and was merely a mortal, Thor considered him more valuable than even an omega-level mutant like Jean Grey. Kingpin's pragmatism and resourcefulness made him an exceptional ally. Thor recalled a survey from his previous life that asked, "Who is the most terrifying villain in the Marvel Universe?" The answer wasn't Thanos or Dormammu—it was Kingpin.

The reasoning was simple: Kingpin was the villain most grounded in reality. And now, Kingpin's sharp intellect had allowed him to discern Thor's true intentions, setting plans into motion with startling precision. Thor wasn't particularly concerned with Kingpin's loyalty, nor did he have time to worry about it. As long as their interests aligned, Kingpin was more dependable than many of the women in Thor's life. At least, with Kingpin, there was no need to navigate moral complexities or emotional entanglements.

Sipping wine from his glass, Thor raised an eyebrow as he watched Doctor Strange perform a subtle trick to refill it endlessly. The liquid rose to the brim once again, glinting under the light.

"This wine is excellent!" Thor grinned. "Your magic is impressive, Strange. You must teach me this trick sometime."

The prospect of infinite refills had profound implications for Asgardian festivities.

As they drank, Thor's thoughts drifted briefly to the Ancient One, the former Sorcerer Supreme. He'd heard of her death—a legendary figure who had protected humanity for countless ages, only to succumb to fate after selecting Doctor Strange as her successor.

At first, Thor had doubted the stories. How could someone so powerful meet such a mundane end? But having witnessed Strange's prowess firsthand, Thor no longer questioned it. Few beings in the universe had the strength to suppress someone like Hela with a mere gesture. In Thor's mind, only Odin, Dormammu, or perhaps Surtur could rival that level of power.

Still, Thor found it difficult to relate to the Ancient One's calm acceptance of death. If he had such strength, he wouldn't care about the dictates of fate. Anyone who sought his life would face unrelenting resistance.

But the Ancient One's passing wasn't what occupied Thor's mind. Her absence left Earth vulnerable in ways few could imagine. More pressingly, her wisdom might have been invaluable in dealing with the Phoenix Force. Without her guidance, Thor was left to navigate this perilous situation on his own.

The Phoenix Force, nestled within Jean Grey, was a constant source of anxiety. If it were to erupt uncontrollably, the devastation would be unimaginable. Thor could neither bear the thought of Jean harming his friends and allies nor stomach the idea of being forced to destroy her.

Jean's power was growing steadily, despite her best efforts to keep her emotions in check. Thor knew it was only a matter of time before the Phoenix Force broke free. He turned to Doctor Strange, hoping for answers.

"Strange," Thor asked, his tone grave. "If her power does explode, can you use that artifact of yours to turn back time? Perhaps to a moment before the eruption?"

Strange furrowed his brow, deep in thought. "You must understand, Thor, some powers transcend time itself. The Phoenix Force is one such entity. Just as Dormammu can perceive and manipulate time loops, the Phoenix Force exists beyond such constraints."

Thor sighed, unsurprised by the response. "Figures," he muttered under his breath.

Noticing Jean's downcast expression, Thor offered her a reassuring smile. "There are ways to solve this problem—permanently."

Jean's eyes lit up with a mix of hope and curiosity. "What ways?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

"The simplest solution," Thor explained, "is for you to fully integrate that power. Make it truly yours."

Jean fell silent, understanding the magnitude of his suggestion. Controlling the Phoenix Force was no simple feat. It required unparalleled discipline, strength, and resolve.

Thor knew words alone wouldn't ease her worries, so he took action. He delved into the archives of Kamar-Taj alongside Strange, poring over ancient texts in search of answers. However, their search yielded nothing. The Phoenix Force was not native to this universe, and the knowledge of Kamar-Taj offered no insights.

Days turned into weeks, and Jean's frustration grew. Thor noticed her mood darkening and decided to intervene.

"I might have a solution," Thor said suddenly, breaking the tense silence.

Jean looked at him skeptically. "I'll try my best to control my emotions," she replied, her tone tinged with resignation.

"No, Jean," Thor said, his voice firm. "I mean it. I have a real solution."

Reaching into his belongings, Thor produced an old, forgotten blueprint. The parchment was worn and faded, its edges frayed from years of neglect. He laid it on the table with a sense of triumph.

"This," Thor declared, "is the Qiankun Circle."

Jean leaned in, examining the intricate design. "What is it?" she asked.

"It's a forging blueprint I acquired years ago, back when I was on Sakaar," Thor explained. He spent five years with Nebula during that time, and completing a task connected to Nebila earned him this reward. Honestly, He thought it was useless back then, so he forgot all about it. But now… now it might be exactly what they need.
