I Became a Little Vampire Princess After Being Infected by a Game Virus

Chapter 21: The City Lord’s Trump Card

Chapter 21: The City Lord’s Trump Card

“Once again, I just can’t understand Mr. Yake. A few little thieves died, what’s there to sympathize with?”

Yin shook her head and turned to leave.

The purpose of clearing out this Old District was accomplished, and the City Lord didn’t order her to deal with Yake and Aierjisi. Staying here with nothing to do wasn’t better than returning to the City Lord’s Mansion to await the next command.

“Ah… Miss Yin. When you get back, please send my regards to the City Lord. A big thanks for the token he gave me.”

Seeing Yin about to leave, Aierjisi asked her to convey a message.

“Sure. It’s great that you are satisfied with the token the City Lord gave you. I’ll take my leave now, may we meet again.”

Yin bowed to Aierjisi and then left.

“Phew… that unpleasant woman has finally gone.”

After seeing Yin off, Aierjisi turned her attention back to Yake, who was still kneeling beside the Thief Boss, mourning his demise.

Aierjisi almost thought Yake was going to duel Yin over that inconsequential Thief Boss. She had even considered how to stop Yake from doing something so foolish, but since he didn’t, it was fine.

“Alright, Yake, stop being so sad. This guy isn’t worth your sympathy. As the Thief Boss, he must’ve done countless wicked deeds—his death isn’t tragic at all.”

She walked up to Yake and patted his shoulder. Whether on Earth or in this world, she had no good feelings towards thieves. After all, why would someone with hands and feet choose to steal instead of doing honest work?

“I know, I know, thieves aren’t good people.”

“Then if you know that, put away your sympathy. This guy isn’t worth it.”

“But… not all thieves are those heartless scumbags, right? Didn’t you see earlier? When he found out you were going after those two thieves who stole your token, he chose to stall for time instead of letting you kill them.”

“So what? Just because he’s a man of feelings and loyalty, does that make him a good person? You’re being too much of a saint.”

Aierjisi looked at the burnt corpse of the Thief Boss, charred from the flames. It seemed that being closer to Yin had resulted in his front being completely scorched, devoid of any good skin. If it weren’t for their previous meetings, they probably wouldn’t even recognize this corpse as that of the Boss.

“He may not be a good person, but he’s a man worth respecting.”

For the sake of his brothers, that Boss faced off against a little princess who was probably much stronger than him. Just for that loyalty, Yake felt this man’s death was a real shame.

“Sigh. Looks like I can’t change your mind. So, what do you want to do next? Don’t tell me you want to challenge that Yin. Let me tell you, she’s definitely not someone you can defeat right now. Even I might not have a 100% chance of beating her.”

Remembering how that woman could create such widespread flames just by transforming with her belt, Aierjisi felt a shiver run down her spine. Luckily, that woman obeyed the City Lord’s orders and wouldn’t target her; otherwise, both she and Yake might’ve ended up in big trouble.

“I’m not that foolish, but at least let me build a tombstone for this man.”

“Fine, fine, if you want to build a tombstone, go ahead. I’ll be over here to rest. Just call me when you’re done.”

The little princess found a relatively clean corner to sit and rest. As she watched Yake build a tombstone for the Thief Boss, boredom made her yawn.

Meanwhile, after clearing out the Old District, Yin returned to the City Lord’s Mansion.

“City Lord, I’m back.”

“Oh, you’ve worked hard. How did it go?”

Seeing Yin return, the City Lord paused his tinkering with his automaton.

“It’s all been taken care of. As expected of the equipment given to me by the City Lord, its power is truly exceptional. Just the flames produced during transformation were enough to burn all the filth of the Old District to ashes.”

“Ah… I see. It seems the power adjustment during transformation needs some work. How do you feel after the transformation? Is there any improvement in combat compared to before?”

“Feels good, just that I haven’t fought after transforming, so I don’t have specific feelings. Sorry about that.”

“Eh. What’s there to apologize for? Lift your head high, Yin. You’re the most trusted aide I’ve had all along. If you didn’t fight post-transformation, that’s fine; if the transformation’s power can take out opponents, then that’s good enough, right?”

“Yes. Does the City Lord have any orders to give? If not, I’ll take my leave first.”

“Nothing at the moment, you’re free to go. Just keep that belt with you at all times. I have an ominous feeling lately, like someone is eyeing my Bield City. Be careful on your way.”

“Yes. Thank you for your concern, City Lord. I’ll take my leave now.”

After sending Yin off, the City Lord stood and gazed out the window. He had been feeling this ominous sense for about a month, especially after that little princess came to his city—his feeling grew even stronger.

“No matter who you are, you want to mess around in my territory? If you can do it, then come and try.”

This City Lord’s Mansion was built as an absolute fortress for himself, using extraordinary materials. It was also heavily enchanted with defensive magic to protect against even dragons. Not to mention, he had a secret weapon ready.

The City Lord turned around and opened a drawer. Inside was a device crafted for battle. As long as he had this, there was nothing to fear.

“Yake. Let’s go. I’ve finished what I needed to do.”

“Ah? Finally done? My back hurts so much, how long did this take? I was so tired I was even sore from sleeping.”

After building the tombstone for the Thief Boss and offering some tributes, Yake felt he had finished his task. He called the little princess, who had been dozing off beside him, and together they left the Old District.
