Chapter 39: The Trap of Intertwined Danger
Chapter 39: The Trap of Intertwined Danger
“How strange. They should be right here, but where are they? Could it be they aren’t even in this inn? Did I come to the wrong place?”
A Jie rummaged through the ruins with the Leopard and the Cyclops, but he found none of the two people Gilbaris mentioned. Did he really come to the wrong spot?
“Huh? What’s up, Leopard?”
Noticing the Leopard staring intently in another direction, A Jie followed its gaze. It was just a patch of forest behind the inn. Nothing to see there.
Wait a minute… a piece of forest? If those two are hiding there, that would make sense.
“Let’s go check that forest.”
Feeling that there was more than met the eye in that forest, A Jie led the Leopard and the Cyclops that way.
“Hey, Aier, I think they spotted us! What should we do? Should we fight them?”
Meanwhile, Aierjisi and Yake, hiding in the woods, noticed A Jie coming in their direction. Yake was panicking; that Cyclops had turned the inn into ruins! If that iron fist landed on him, he’d likely be flattened in a second.
“Don’t panic. The advantage is still ours.”
“What? They have three on their side! We’ve only got two! How are we supposed to fight? Plus, if it comes down to a fight, my battle power will just hold us back.”
Seeing the Little Princess unfazed, Yake was getting anxious for her. How could she still be talking about advantages right now?
“What’s there to panic about? You’re just too young, Yake. Right now, they’re in the light while we’re in the shadows. That’s an advantage too, you know?”
“So? Do you have a plan?”
Since the Little Princess believed the advantage was still in their favor, she must have a plan to deal with them.
“Of course, I don’t.”
Aierjisi’s remark left Yake dumbfounded, nearly causing him to fall over.
“I can’t believe it. Then why are you talking about advantages?”
“Don’t worry, you’ll know soon enough.”
Even without a so-called plan, the Little Princess was confident about dealing with those three.
“Really? Well, I hope you hurry up. If they catch us, we’re in for it.”
“Alright, alright, just shut your mouth! Next, you’ll see my performance.”
At her words, Yake obediently closed his eyes, ready to witness the Little Princess’s so-called performance.
On the other side, A Jie was still leading the Cyclops and Leopard deeper into the woods. This Leopard seemed to possess the ability to track enemies’ scents, so it could sense Aier and Yake hiding and pinpoint their location. It was too bad the Leopard couldn’t talk like a bird; otherwise, it could just tell A Jie where they were.
However, these three were unaware that they had already stepped into a trap set by the Little Princess.
“Huh? Did my foot just touch something?”
Just then, A Jie felt something beneath his foot. As he bent down to check…
“Now! Yake, quickly close your eyes! If you don’t, I’m not responsible if you go blind!”
Sensing the idiot had activated the trap, the Little Princess quickly covered her face and reminded Yake to shut his eyes too.
“Oh. Okay.”
Listening to the Little Princess, Yake quickly shut his eyes.
The moment they closed their eyes…
“Ah! What is this? What’s happening? My eyes! I can’t see! Ahhhh!!!”
The nighttime sky, usually silent, erupted with a blinding light, dazzling A Jie, the Leopard, and the Cyclops, leaving them all wailing as they shielded their eyes.
“Good. First, blind them to take away their evasion ability.”
Watching the trio temporarily lose their sight due to her bright magic, Aierjisi applauded.
“Is there really such magic? You’re truly terrifying.”
As Yake once again recognized the Little Princess’s terrifying nature, he watched their sightless foes continuously bump into trees.
“Hmph. That guy keeps demolishing our inn. I actually liked this place!”
At that moment, Aierjisi still didn’t know that A Jie was coming for her.
“So what’s next? They’ve lost their sight from your flash. Can we get out now?”
Since the three had lost their vision, they should pose no threat. Yake thought they could take on three now.
“Don’t panic! I told you before, the advantages are on our side! And if I set a trap, I never just set one.”
“Ah?”
After hearing the Little Princess’s words, Yake gazed blankly at what would happen next.
“What is this? My foot seems to be entangled! Someone, come help me unbind it!”
A Jie felt something wrapping around his leg, restricting his movement. He quickly commanded the Cyclops and Leopard to help him.
But they were in the same boat, their legs wrapped up by the surrounding plants, immobilized.
“Huh? Is something happening over there? I should go check it out.”
The bird, sitting nearby and munching on decayed meat, was unharmed by the previous bright magic. Hearing the cries of its master and the two companions prompted it to investigate.
“Hey, guys, what’s going on? Why are you in this mess?”
Seeing A Jie and the others entangled in plants and blinded, the bird expressed sympathy and darted over to help slice away the bindings.
But that did no good; as soon as the bird cut a few strands, the plants recoiled and rewrapped around their legs, even ensnaring the bird’s claws so it couldn’t soar into the sky.
“Damn it! What the heck is this stuff?!”
Seeing its own claws ensnared by the plants, the bird could only curse in frustration.
“Alright, it’s about time to wrap this up. Let’s give these guys a taste of ice spikes.”
As the four were trapped by the plants, leaving them unable to move, Aierjisi activated the final trap.
“What’s this? Something is falling from above! Is that ice? Get away, guys! Oh wait, I forgot, we can’t move because of these damn plants!”
Watching the blue magic circle overhead, the bird realized that ice spikes were falling from the magic array.
Countless ice spikes of varying sizes rained down on them, resulting in continuous screams of agony.
“Ah, it hurts! So cold!”
“I’m asking, how did you end up like this? Ah!!!”
