"I Became a Witch, but Now Everyone's in Love with Me!"

vol. 1 chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Waking Up as a Witch

Chapter 1: Waking Up as a Witch

When Jiang Cha opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was an unfamiliar ceiling… and—why were there black stockings in front of her face?

“…?”
Her sluggish brain finally booted up, as if typing out a mental question mark. Her brown eyes were filled with confusion.
Even though she had no memory of her past, basic common sense was still deeply etched into her mind. And right now, that common sense was clearly screaming: something was wrong. A person waking up from a coma definitely shouldn’t find a pair of black-stockinged legs straddling their waist.

She slowly lifted her gaze.
The sunlight sure is bright—wait, no, that’s just the ceiling… and it’s huge.
Jiang Cha unconsciously sighed in her heart. Her eyes drifted past a light fixture, then continued upward, following the curve of a graceful white neck until they landed on a woman’s face—youthful, yet carrying a mature allure.

The woman wore rather unusual makeup. Thick black eyeshadow gave her a smoky, mysterious air—like some sort of exotic witch. Her bright red lips were like fire, striking right to the heart.
Oof, that’s a critical hit to the strike zone.
The woman smiled faintly and gently tapped her lips with her fingers—an act that could be seen as either temptation or invitation. But Jiang Cha just calmly stared back, as if she’d seen it all before. No trace of shyness crossed her face.

“Excuse me… who are you?”
Though a bit startled by her body’s subconscious reaction, Jiang Cha quickly composed herself and asked.
Hearing her own voice for the first time was an odd experience. Though she clearly felt the vibration in her vocal cords and knew the voice came from her, it didn’t feel like hers at all. If not for that physical confirmation, she might’ve believed someone else was dubbing her lines offstage.

Still… it was a beautiful voice. A little hoarse, but filled with a holy, pure quality—like a devout nun softly singing a hymn.
“I’m your lover!”
The woman’s voice was just as pleasant—sultry and bewitching. If one had to compare, she was like a Venus flytrap—sweet, fragrant, and lethally dangerous.

“…Huh?”
Even without her memories, Jiang Cha’s instincts hadn’t dulled. Her mind, surprisingly clear, was picking up alarm bells—this woman felt completely unfamiliar. It didn’t make sense. When someone wakes from a coma, the first face they should see is someone close to them, a doctor, or a nurse—not a strange woman sitting on top of them.
Trusting her intuition, Jiang Cha stayed alert. Her expression, however, remained confused and uneasy.
“Then who am I?”

She remembered her name—but that was it.
“You’re Jiang Cha. You lost your memory in an accident and have been unconscious for a week.”
A week? I’ve been lying here for that long?

Jiang Cha frowned inwardly, trying to confirm the truth using what remained of her common sense. But she came up with two conflicting conclusions.
One: someone who’s been in a coma for a week shouldn’t be feeling this physically strong—like she could punch out a dragon.
Two: her brain itself calmly stated—Yes. You’ve been unconscious for 7 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes, and 34 seconds.

“…Then what’s your name?”
Too little information. Jiang Cha decided to probe the strange woman further.
“Hehe~ no need to worry about little details. You’ve kept me waiting for a whole week… my love.”

The woman leaned in close, pressing her warm body against Jiang Cha’s. Her breath was hot against Jiang Cha’s lips, and in that instant, the entire room filled with a strange tension.
Correction: not hormones—this smells like smoke. Computer component-type smoke.
…Huh?

That mechanical voice in her mind startled Jiang Cha. But when she focused, she realized—it was her own voice. Just… lifeless, inorganic, devoid of emotion. No one hearing the two would think they came from the same person.
Analysis complete. Error margin: less than 0.01%.
Okay but—why do I even have data on what computer parts smell like?

The internal processing happened in a blink. Jiang Cha instantly understood what had happened: while unconscious, she’d somehow awakened a special ability—an unconscious power to collect information from her surroundings and integrate it with her own cognition.
She’d remained in a coma for a full week not because she was physically unwell, but because her data processing overloaded her brain, [N O V E L I G H T] forcing it into a protective sleep mode.
Otherwise, she probably would’ve woken up in just three days.

Still, the woman above her was clearly a threat—and her breath was growing more hurried.
Judging by her actions so far…
Is she just… into my body?

Newly awakened and still unsure how to handle the situation, Jiang Cha was momentarily frozen.
Thankfully, a new voice broke the stalemate.
“HELEN! Get off the new girl this instant!”

A girl with shoulder-length black hair—who, based on Jiang Cha’s instincts, was definitely wearing fake breasts—kicked open the door and stormed into the room.
She grabbed the voluptuous woman (Helen) like she was picking up a misbehaving puppy.
“Sinan, I was just trying to bond with our new recruit. I wasn’t going to do anything.”

Helen pouted as she clung playfully to Sinan’s waist.
“Bonding doesn’t require a bed—or smoke bombs from your body!”
With practiced ease, Sinan reached into Helen’s clothes and pulled out a small pink bottle. A flash of blue light surrounded her as she crushed it in one hand. Then, she yanked Helen away, spun her around like a hammer thrower, and launched her straight out the window.

Jiang Cha could only stare, wide-eyed, as Sinan—who looked like a delicate girl—hurled a woman over 170 cm tall and weighing at least 100 kilos high into the sky.
Whoosh!
…Okay, yeah. By all common logic, this has to be a dream.

With that comforting thought, Jiang Cha lay back down, pulled the quilt over herself, and shut her eyes.
Denial. Brain status: fully optimized after triple enhancement. No need for sleep.
That same robotic voice rang out again, mercilessly shattering her delusion.

“…So basically, no witch is normal, huh.”
Sinan looked at the peacefully tucked-in girl and sighed, massaging her forehead.
Then she walked forward and—fwip!—lifted the quilt.

“Get up, junior! This is not a dream!”
Grabbing the edge of the blanket, Sinan effortlessly tossed Jiang Cha—blanket and all—into the air.
Jiang Cha’s mind went blank.

Just as she thought she’d fall and crack her skull open, a surge of blue light burst from her body, flooding the room with a bright glow. Her brain snapped into high gear.
In an instant, she became hyper-aware—she could feel and control every muscle in her body with perfect precision. The world around her slowed to a crawl, like a scene in bullet time. Before even thinking about landing, she realized she had enough time to mentally hum a song.
And in that moment…

Jiang Cha understood.
She was no longer human.
