Chapter 2: 2. First Talk
Outside Konoha Ninja Academy
Under the warm glow of the setting sun, Naruto sat on a swing outside the academy, his small frame casting a long, lonely shadow on the ground. His head was bowed, his expression hidden beneath his unruly blond hair.
In the distance, students and their parents gradually dispersed, heading home for the evening.
Even as they walked away, their voices still reached his ears—whispers filled with resentment and disgust.
"Don't get too close to that monster at school."
"He's about to graduate… Why hasn't that demon dropped out yet?"
"I really hope that thing dies soon."
"I heard he spent the entire afternoon on Hokage Rock. So disgusting."
Their muttered curses and scornful remarks stabbed into Naruto like invisible knives, piercing straight to his heart.
Naruto buried his face deeper into his arms. His chest tightened, confusion and pain swirling inside him.
"Why?"
What had he ever done to deserve this?
Why had he been despised and isolated since the day he could remember?
They didn't even have the courage to insult him to his face. They kept their distance, whispering behind his back, ensuring they wouldn't be seen interacting with him.
But just as quickly as the emotions surfaced, they were buried again—pushed deep into the corners of his mind.
It was as if something within him—someone—was silently taking on all of his pain, drowning in the darkness in his stead.
Allowing him to remain cheerful, optimistic, and full of life.
The thought came and went like a passing breeze.
Naruto clenched his fists, forcing himself to straighten up. His sadness faded, replaced by renewed determination.
With fiery resolve in his eyes, he shouted to the empty schoolyard:
"I WILL become Hokage!"
"Then you'll all acknowledge me!"
The words echoed into the evening air, but no one was there to hear them.
Silence.
Naruto let his fists drop, a hint of disappointment flickering across his face before he shook it off.
Then, he suddenly remembered something.
He turned toward the academy gates, his brow furrowing.
"Why isn't Iruka-sensei here yet? Wasn't he supposed to punish me by making me clean Hokage Rock?"
Naruto scratched his cheek, thinking back to earlier that day.
"Did I make him too angry with my Sexy Jutsu…?"
Tomorrow was the graduation exam, and as part of the pre-test, Iruka had conducted a basic ninjutsu assessment.
But Naruto—utterly hopeless at the Three Basic Jutsu—had tried to cheat his way through by using his signature Sexy Jutsu.
The result?
Iruka had a massive nosebleed and had to bow his head for a full minute before he dared to stand upright again.
Naruto grinned at the memory, then sighed.
"Oh well, guess he decided to let me off the hook. Saves me the trouble of cleaning…"
But despite his words, the disappointment was evident in his eyes.
Because deep down, he wanted someone to punish him.
Even if it was anger, even if it was frustration—it still meant they were paying attention to him.
Better that than being ignored.
Watching from within, Fengxu frowned as he observed Naruto's reaction.
"Just hearing people curse at him behind his back was enough for me to surface…?"
Originally, he had assumed that only intense emotional breakdowns would trigger his release.
But it seemed that even minor negative emotions were enough.
"If that's the case…"
Fengxu glanced around the endless void surrounding him and called out:
"System, I want to switch personalities."
[Personality switching…]
[Ding! The main personality's negative emotions are insufficient. Personality switch failed.]
Fengxu sighed.
"Figures."
Though he had gained temporary access to Naruto's vision and the ability to communicate, he still couldn't take over.
For now.
His gaze returned to Naruto.
"So, he was punished for defacing Hokage Rock… and used his Sexy Jutsu on Iruka?"
That confirmed the current timeline.
"This must be the very start of the original story."
"Tomorrow night… Naruto will steal the Scroll of Sealing and experience his first true crisis."
Fengxu smirked.
Perfect timing.
Not too soon, not too late.
At this point, Naruto still had no real friends, no one he could trust.
"This is the best moment to sink my claws into him."
After all—who else could Naruto rely on, if not himself?
And who was closer to Naruto than his own subconscious?
Naruto stood, dusting himself off. He was about to leave when—
A voice rang in his mind.
"Uzumaki Naruto."
His entire body stiffened.
Whipping his head around, he frantically scanned the empty schoolyard.
"Who's there?!"
Silence.
Naruto swallowed hard.
The strange thing was…
The voice had sounded exactly like his own.
Same tone. Same volume.
As if he had spoken—yet heard it from outside himself.
A chill ran down his spine.
"No way…"
His hands clenched at his sides as he shook his head violently, trying to rid himself of the unsettling thought.
But the harder he tried to ignore it, the deeper it rooted itself in his mind.
His lips trembled as he hesitantly whispered his own name:
"Uzumaki Naruto…?"
And the voice answered.
"Yeah. It's me."
"!!"
Naruto's entire body jolted with shock.
Then, without hesitation—
"AAAAHHHH!!"
Naruto screamed at the top of his lungs and took off running.
"GHOST!!!"
Fengxu: "…"
Watching Naruto bolt in terror, Fengxu felt a vein twitch on his forehead.
"I'M NOT A GHOST! I'M INSIDE YOUR HEAD, YOU IDIOT!"
Outside, Naruto's face turned an even paler shade of horror.
"IT'S IN MY HEAD!!"
His scream hit another octave.
"HELP!! THIRD HOKAGE!! ICHIRAKU-UNCLE!! IRUKA-SENSEI!!"
"I'VE BEEN POSSESSED BY A GHOST!!!"
Fengxu: "…"
He sighed deeply, rubbing his temples.
"No… Forget it. Just feel it for yourself."
Rather than argue, Fengxu directly opened the system's authority—and transferred a fragment of Naruto's buried memories into his conscious mind.
Naruto's frantic footsteps suddenly halted.
His eyes widened in shock as a torrent of emotions surged through him—
Hatred. Resentment. Loneliness. Despair.
Memories of cold stares, angry curses, and countless nights of isolation swallowed him whole.
His face twisted in raw emotion, his breathing ragged.
And for one moment, his eyes were filled with endless rage.
Then, just as quickly as it came—
The flood of emotions was pushed back down.
The darkness retreated into the depths of his mind.
And Fengxu absorbed it all once more.
