Chapter 7: Village Chiefs
Xerxes had seen the same disappointment in the eyes of the old village chief of Mountain Village.
"You are not Nobel?" The village chief of Wind asked, while another one nodded.
"No, I'm not Nobel, and I don't think I'm connected to them in any way," Xerxes answered directly, eager to see their reaction.
"I told you we don't have any Nobels here," the village chief of Mountain Village announced. "Now you can go back."
"Old man, I advise you not to make things difficult here. And you, Xerxes," he said, glaring at Xerxes, "how dare you deceive us?" The village chief of Herders Village raised his voice.
"Deceive? Who, me? When?" Xerxes spoke calmly.
"Where'd you get that confidence? If you're not Nobel, who are you? Explain yourself." The village chief of Wind retorted at Xerxes.
"Didn't Father-in-law already make it clear that there is no Nobel here? And Xerxes has already told you that he isn't. Then why are you making things difficult for him?" Lulu spoke while defending Xerxes.
"Woman, it's not your turn to speak. This is not your place, so you better shut your mouth." The village chief of Herders reprimanded her.
"You!" Lulu glared back, but the old village chief stopped her.
The old village chief's tone serious, "For the sake of your fathers, I'm going to overlook this. Both of you better go back, or..." giving them a warning.
"Or what? Old man, you think you are the same man like 20 years ago who was considered the most powerful man in the whole Mist Forest?"
The village chief of Herders spoke while his aura rose, his muscles bulged, and two big Ibex horns grew on his head.
"Today, I'll take your daughter-in-law and her daughter with me, while you..." then he looked at Xerxes, "...and you, you'll follow us. We need someone to clean our goats." A cruel smile displayed on his lips.
"HAHAHAHA!"
"Seems like you have angered Big Brother. It's time for Mountain Village to look for a new Village Chief because your old chief has become senile." Village chief of wind village looked at the gathered crowd, who were angry at the two village chiefs.
While seeing the transformation of their Village Head, the people from the Herders village also transformed. Their bodies bulged while their auras rose with two horns on their heads.
They were giving an intimidating feeling to the villagers of the mountain village, who were also ready to fight. Meanwhile, the old village chief hit his staff on the ground, and suddenly the land beneath them creaked.
Two 10-foot golems emerged, and the villagers backed off as they saw the golems emerge. They hadn't seen this for decades, but the power of their old village chief was still recognizable.
"I have had enough of yours. Are you really wanting to fight? I may be old, but I'm still alive and enough to end your lives." The old village chief warned.
The village chief of Wind smiled. "You know the temperaments of people of Herders Village."
"They can be angered in small things, but what he demands is not wrong. Your son is dead, and your daughter-in-law is a widow. Why not send her and her daughter with him? This way, you can improve the relations with the two tribes."
"You!" The old village chief glared in anger, but the village chief of Wind Village didn't give him a chance and took out a paper with him.
"Take this, this is from the Royal Society. This time they have given two seats to the Mountain Village because of the death of your son," he smiled, "but you don't need it, so why not give one seat to my tribe and for another seat, it will go to Big Brother as husband of your granddaughter."
"How shameless," Xerxes muttered, but loud enough that the people close to him heard it.
"What did you say?" The village chief of Herders gave a warning glance to Xerxes.
"I said how shameless you are. I want to know why you are so confident in your abilities. That you're ready to go against a whole tribe, or there is something more in this..." Xerxes's words hit like a current, and the village chief of Herders hit him with a punch.
"BOOM"
"THUD"
Xerxes goes flying towards the nearby mud hut, and it collapsed with the impact while everyone was stunned.
Lulu exclaimed, "Xerxes!"
"Big Brother?" The village chief of Wind looked at the village chief of Herders. He hadn't thought that the Village Chief of Herders would hit Xerxes with this much power.
"He is dead, you should have restrained yourself. What if he really was a Nobel?"
"I didn't like his face, and what's the matter? We just need to silence the witnesses and blame it on these mountain bastards," the Village Chief of Herders Village spoke while looking at the villagers of the Mountain Village.
"Hahaha, you are very cruel, Big Brother…" the village chief of Wind laughed, but then his attention went to a figure coming out from the rubble.
Except for a few more cuts on his pants, Xerxes looked unharmed.
Silence prevailed as everyone was stunned. Xerxes unharmed, cleaning dust from his hair, he looked at the village chief of Herders, "If this is your level of power, then you better run from this place before I pluck those horns of yours and shove them into your arse."
"You…...you dare." With an angry yell, the village chief of Herders ran towards Xerxes and kicked.
This time the force was more powerful than before, and Xerxes again went flying with blood flying from his mouth.
"Thud"
He collapsed in a stack of woods, and one of the woods went inside his skin and came out of his abdomen, while more blood came from his mouth.
"Enough."
The old village chief sent one of the Golems to save Xerxes, but a sudden torrent of wind stopped its way.
"What are you doing?" the old village chief warned.
"Huh, what do you mean, do you think I'll let you interfere?" says the Wind Village Chief.
Another torrent of wind goes towards the old village chief, but the remaining golem shields him from the impact.
Meanwhile, people from both the villages were ready to attack the Mountain Village when suddenly they heard a grunt.
Xerxes cried in pain. He looked down and he could see a bloody wooden stick had made a hole in his abdomen.
"Shit…it hurts."
He slowly gets up while closing his eyes. In one sweep, he plunged the stick out of his abdomen.
"AAAHAAAAAAAAA"
The whole village was filled with his cry as he took the stick out of his body. His cries attracted everyone's attention, and when they saw it, their eyes were out of their sockets.
The wound on his abdomen began to heal, and within a second, it became like before, clean and pristine skin, as if there was no injury before.
It shocked everyone, especially the Village Chief of Wind Village, who had a bold thought, but before he could say anything, the Village Chief of Herders ran towards Xerxes for another attack.
Xerxes ran towards the Village Chief of Herders Village and went for a punch against the incoming attack. He didn't transform so his secret wouldn't get out.
But just as his punch was about to meet the attack, his fist hardened, and with a huge impact.
"BOOM"
"THUD"
The Village Chief of Herders Village felt searing pain in his hand. His wrist bone broke while little blood came out of his mouth.
Surprised, he looked at Xerxes when another punch came from Xerxes, and with another huge impact, the Herders Village Chief lost his footing and went straight to the crowd.
[Silence]
