Chapter 58

Chapter 58

—–CROW—–

“Hmm. This is difficult.”

-The wind… like this? No, like this?

Our training was surprisingly peaceful.

In the past, we had to push our bodies to the limit to increase our strength, but now, we were at a level where such strenuous physical training wasn’t necessary.

In Silphy’s case, thanks to the nature of wind and ambient mana, she never needed to train her body.  As for Cheong and me, after becoming divine beasts, the gold qi naturally strengthened our bodies, so they were constantly being refined even without active training.

*Boom.*

“Ugh. That’s not what I wanted. Should I twist my wrist more?”

-Ah! Why does the wind scatter here?!

Therefore, what we needed was imagination, to be able to freely manipulate the power we possessed.  We practiced techniques based on our imagination, and once we established them, we would then integrate them into our bodies.

[It’s warm today.]

While watching Cheong and Silphy practice their techniques, I focused on amplifying the power of my Yeouiju.

As the power within the Yeouiju intensified, the qi accumulating in my body naturally amplified as well.

I spent my time observing the five elements, wind, and lightning qi flowing freely within me, and I ended up not opening the gallery that day.

[If anything happens, she’ll leave a comment.]

I had already posted a guide for the newbie, SparkleSparkle, with the route I knew, so I wasn’t worried.

Besides, things were getting a bit too hectic to focus solely on the newbie.

[Then let’s quickly head to the place I saw this morning.]

[Understood.]

While everyone was asleep, preparing for the next day, I headed to the cemetery where I had seen the Wraith, accompanied by the wolf divine beast.

[You’re out earlier than usual tonight.]

Just before we left the cave, I pointed inside in response to the wolf divine beast’s question.

[They were unusually focused on their training today and fell asleep quickly.]

That’s why I was able to leave a bit earlier this time.

Since I was going directly to the Wraith’s location from the start, I was sure to gain some information regarding the issue.

‘Especially that sword. I need to examine it properly.’

It might be related to the reason for the Wraith’s appearance.

I climbed onto the wolf divine beast’s back, and it powerfully dashed towards the cemetery.

*Rustle.*

-He left?

“Yes.”

-Where does he go at this hour?

“Let’s follow him!”

-…Should we?

***

[We’ve arrived. There doesn’t seem to be much difference from yesterday.]

[It doesn’t seem like much to you, huh? Then things might be a bit more serious than I thought.]

The wolf divine beast looked at me strangely at my words.

[What do you mean, different from yesterday?]

[Yeah… if I’m not mistaken, the death qi from that sword is denser than yesterday. Enough to affect the surroundings.]

And unlike yesterday, the Wraith was now clearly looking at the sword with hostility.

The wolf divine beast still looked confused, not understanding the problem.

[Stay back for a bit.]

[Yes. I’ll be right behind you. If you need my help, please call me.]

I didn’t know what kind of trouble might arise if I kept the oblivious beast by my side, so I had it hang back.

*Rustle.*

[Wraith. What is it about that sword that angers you so?]

-…

Still silent.

But I could feel it.

Its gaze shifted, ever so slightly, from the sword to me.

Judging that I shouldn’t miss this opportunity, I immediately got to the point.

[Why are you here? Are you related to this sword? Tell me how you ended up here, where there are no humans.]

-…

[…I see. Alright.]

The Wraith remained silent.

But it answered me.

Though it was a subtle gesture, it clearly pointed to the sword in front of me.

[So, what is it about you that makes you radiate such death qi and taint this place?]

The sword’s death qi had grown denser than yesterday, so I, like the Wraith, expressed my hostility.

If this rate of growth continued, it would definitely cause significant damage to Ceres’s Paradise.

*Rumble.*

“Thud.”

[Pull out the sword.]

Since directly touching it seemed quite dangerous, I ordered a golem I had created using earth and metal qi.

The loyal golem, devoid of sentience and following only my commands, reached out and pulled the sword without hesitation.

*Shing.*

A sharp sound, unbefitting a rusty sword that looked anything but a masterpiece, rang out.

A long cut appeared on the golem’s hand that held the sword.

[It got injured just from pulling out the sword?]

-You damn rock! I was sleeping peacefully, and you dare lift me? I’ll give you five seconds. If you don’t put me down right now, I’ll turn your body to dust.

A sharp voice accompanied the dense death qi emanating from the drawn sword.

[That voice came from the sword. Is it a sentient Ego Weapon?]

Among equipment, there was a very slim chance of a weapon being imbued with a soul, becoming an Ego Weapon.

It was said that if an Ego Weapon formed a contract with its owner, it would possess infinite durability and remain undamaged until the owner’s death.

Even in “Save Earth Hero,” these weapons were rare, so it felt somewhat novel to encounter one like this.

‘But judging by the qi emanating from the sword, it seems to be some kind of cursed sword.’

There was a common image that came to mind when one thought of cursed swords.

It wasn’t much different in “Save Earth Hero.”

A cursed sword that burdened its user, ultimately leading them to ruin.

And for it to be a sentient Ego Weapon on top of that… just thinking about it made me worry about how powerful and dangerous it could be.

-F! O! Th! T!

[Golem, put down the sword—]

-O! Die!!

*Clang, clang, clang!*

Before I could finish my command, small slashes erupted from the sword, literally grinding the golem to pieces.

I honestly thought the golem, imbued with earth and metal qi, was tougher than most steel.

But the slashes from the cursed sword tore through it with ease.

[This is a more dangerous cursed sword than I thought.]

It didn’t seem like it had formed a contract.

Yet it displayed such terrifying power.

-Kyahahaha! Who told you to grab me, you rock!

But why was the cursed sword pretending not to know us?

Sensing something odd in how it focused solely on the golem that held it, I approached the sword and spoke.

[Hey, cursed sword.]

-It feels good to use my power after so long!

[Can you not hear me?]

-How dare a rock try to touch me! Not a chance!

Hmm, this was an unexpected problem.

To think a sentient cursed sword wouldn’t be able to see its surroundings.

There was a possibility it was intentionally ignoring me, but as I got closer, I ruled that out.

[I see. Perhaps the sword’s damage has affected its soul as well.]

It probably wouldn’t be able to perceive anyone unless they touched it.

[But what is your connection to this sword that makes you so angry?]

-…

[Did this cursed sword’s owner massacre humans?]

-…

No response.

Unlike before, it simply continued to radiate hostility towards the cursed sword, and I sighed.

“Why are you sighing?”

[I thought I had found a solution to the problem, but now I feel like it’s more complicated than before.]

“Hmm. This is all because of that strange sword, right?”

[For now, yes, but it’s too early to jump to conclusio—Cheong?]

“Hi, El!”

Why was Cheong here?

Seriously, I’m not even exaggerating, why are you coming out of there?

-You were up all night moving around because of this sword?

[Silphy, you too…]

I was startled by Cheong’s sudden appearance beside me, and then Silphy, who had arrived unnoticed, used the wind to lift the fallen dagger.

[Silphy, be careful. That sword is not ordinary.]

-Well, it’s obviously radiating an ominous aura. Like… that strange guy who came before.

“Right! I smelled that strange guy on the sword!”

The strange guy Cheong and Silphy were talking about must be the one shrouded in darkness.

Could this cursed sword be his creation?

Just who was that guy to be connected to a cursed sword like this?

“So, what do we do now?”

[I’m thinking of trying to talk to it.]

-Talk? It doesn’t seem like it’s in a state to have a conversation.

*Spin. Spin.*

-Whoa! The world is spinning! What’s happening?! Am I falling off a cliff because the golem disappeared?!

-More importantly, is this thing blind?

“It doesn’t seem to hear us either.”

Silphy and Cheong also realized that something was strange about the cursed sword’s state.

A strange cursed sword that couldn’t communicate unless you held it directly.

[I’ll try holding it.]

“No!”

-Yeah, let’s have that wolf back there do it.

[B-Black Despair, I…]

[It’s alright. I have a plan.]

Of course, I wasn’t sure if this method would work… but even if something went wrong, my tail would grow back even if it was cut off, so if things got dangerous, I could just sever it.
