Chapter 26
Chapter 26. Followers of the Blue Eye
After a moment's reflection, I shook my head. I had become confident after smoothly wrapping up a battle that seemed a bit excessive.
"Well, even if some monsters catch a whiff and flock towards us, I think we can take them, right?"
"Clack-clack-clack!!"
In the end, we decided to proceed with butchering two big boars and began the task.
Just then, Lee Yeon-hee sat down beside me, saying she would help with the butchering, rolling up her sleeves.
I gave her a steady gaze.
"I think I can do it now that I've seen it a few times."
Though my gaze suggested, 'What about being vigilant?' she scratched her head a bit shyly.
In the end, I had to spend a bit more time demonstrating the process to her.
Proceeding with heightened alertness, contrary to my worries, no additional monsters appeared.
"Today, we're lucky."
Just as Lee Yeon-hee said, it was merely luck. In eight out of ten times, the scent would have attracted monsters.
"Oh, here come the monsters."
Pant - Pant - Pant -
A group of mole crickets was staring at us from a distance.
Seeing them was actually reassuring, as their presence indicated no predators were nearby, allowing us to finish our task in peace.
Only after retrieving enough bones to feed Woof-woof did we leave the area.
As soon as we left, the mole crickets rushed in, drooling and consuming the carcass.
"Let's head back to that place we saw earlier."
Nod-
To prepare for the next hunt, I intended to wash off the blood that soaked my body, so we headed to the small creek we had seen earlier.
Since I had only bones and no flesh, it didn't take long to wash and continue our journey.
While traveling, I invested the stat points I received from leveling up into Strength, Agility, and Stamina.
Now that I'd reached level 15, leveling up would be slower, but if I focused on fighting Big Boars, which gave more experience than Goblins, my growth shouldn't be significantly hampered.

A shiver ran through me as I felt my body structure become more intricate with the stats improved by +5 each as a level 5 perk.
"Washing is straightforward, and Ilwol surprisingly has a convenient body? Hehehe-"
"Clack-clack-clack-"
"Besides, I think I might reach level 20 soon. I'll probably hit level 19 today..."
'Oh, so she's level 18. Reaching level 18 in just five months might not be extremely fast, but considering she couldn't explore dungeons for more than a few hours when her mother was around...'
It seemed like her growth was just gathering momentum now.
'When I think about it, I'm already level 15, but compared to her, the summoned creature's growth seems much faster? Why, hmm?'
In games, higher-grade characters often required more experience, leading to slower leveling.
Perhaps it's a similar concept here.
'I'm of such a low level that I need less experience to level up... Thinking this way makes me feel melancholic!'
To chase away the melancholy, I suddenly swung my shoulders in a dance, causing Lee Yeon-hee to burst into laughter.
But at that moment, I noticed a team coming downstream from the creek.
"Clack-clack!!"
"Hehehe- Huh? Should we hide?"
'I don't think there's a need to run away...'
Even though there were four people coming into the sense net, which was more than us, their level wasn't as high as ours.
If needed, we could flee easily.
The problem was their attire. Wearing fluttering black cloaks with a vertically slit eye symbol, they had a specific outfit.
The group called themselves the 'Blue Eye', with the self-proclaimed title of a paramilitary group; they were lunatics suffering from delusions.
Initially, they seemed like a gathering of attention seekers, but later, they rapidly expanded to become a large faction with over a million followers in Korea alone.
Their sole objective was to merge the world within the dungeons with our own.
It seemed like nonsense, and they never achieved anything until the day I died.
However, in my current state, I began to think they might succeed.
'While avoiding entanglements is preferable, it might be good to investigate if the chance arises.'
As I prepared to respond by slowly grabbing my club, the opposing group hesitated briefly before turning in a different direction.
"Phew~ The Big Boar dungeon receives far more hunter entries than the Goblin dungeon, so we might run into situations like those more often now."
Lee Yeon-hee wiped the sweat off her forehead with the back of her hand, her gaze still fixed in the direction the group had disappeared into the forest.
She paused in that stance for a moment before she began moving again, and as I walked slightly ahead, I subtly guided her off the main route.
Surprisingly, she followed without suspicion, which was normal for other hunters who would've realized they were straying off the path by then.
'She's definitely... directionally challenged...'
Lee Yeon-hee had shared so much with me, including her struggle with directions, which I gleaned from our many conversations.
It turned out her lack of growth in the Goblin dungeon wasn't solely due to her mother.
She habitually moved back and forth in a straight line from the dungeon entrance, hindering her efficiency.
Ever since meeting me, she had grown accustomed to following wherever I led, to the point of not questioning it anymore.
'It's probably more so because it's her first time in this dungeon. With this, I can deviate more boldly, can't I?'
I began moving more boldly towards my intended destination.
Even though there was no visible path, we continuously ran into monsters, keeping her distracted.
'Since no other hunters would venture down these paths, there are bound to be more unchecked monsters...'
People naturally moved towards paths of comfort and efficiency, whereas we forged through rough terrain, steep slopes, and dense foliage unsuited for battles.
Eventually, when our directionally challenged Lee Yeon-hee began to wonder if we should head back, we arrived at a hill in the forest's highest region.
The terrain suddenly leveled out, revealing a wide plain with a small lake.
We saw two teams already engaged in combat with monsters on the lake's opposite side.
However, their aim was probably to find uncovered hunting spots rather than, like myself, pursuing artifacts.
"Wow~ This place has a lake too. I didn't see any internet information mentioning a lake around here? Seeing as there are barely any hunters here, is it a hidden hunting spot only certain people know about?"
'That's exactly it. If you publicize a good restaurant, it'll only cause longer queues.'
As we arrived, one of the two teams descended the hill immediately, and once the other team finished their battle and personal maintenance, they moved to another location.
Meanwhile, we hunted a few goblins hidden by the lake to pass the time.
"Oh, the people have left. There seems to be a Big Boar group over there. Should we go check—"
While Lee Yeon-hee chattered beside me, surveying the surroundings, I stashed my club in the inventory and dove into the lake.
Splash-!
"Ilwol-aaah~"
Lee Yeon-hee's voice was distorted by the water, tickling my ears, but I paddled further underwater.
'I don't even need to hold my breath; this is a piece of cake.'
Recalling my lifetime exploration, where I had a near panic-inducing experience trying to go deeper, made my shoulders shivered.
Hoping I hadn't exceeded the distance limit from Lee Yeon-hee, I extended my senses, eventually discovering a very small cave.
It was barely large enough for a person to crawl through. Once inside, a small, blood-red jar awaited.
Bizarrely, the jar remained firmly in place, resisting the current as if glued to the floor. I grabbed the jar without hesitation and placed it into my inventory.
Immediately afterward, I felt a pull from behind, likely a result of Lee Yeon-hee's concerned movement, reaching the distance limit.
I quickly left the cave and surfaced. As soon as I did, Lee Yeon-hee extended a branch towards me with flailing arms.
'I can manage on my own, though...'
I grabbed the branch she handed in concern, emerging from the water. I noticed her eyes were glistening with moisture.
'Hmm- she's changed... a lot. This... should be fine, right?'
Her expression was one that still felt unfamiliar and strange to me, as her cold demeanor from the past was still deeply ingrained in my mind.
"Sob... Ilwol-ah! Why did you suddenly jump into the water?"
To the sniffling Lee Yeon-hee, I handed the crimson jar.
*Sniffle*
"Huh? What's this?"
TL's Corner:
We saw a glimpse of a potentially troublesome group. Blue Eyes.
