The construction of the Quantum Spectrum actually combined various theories such as "The Book of Changes, parallel spaces, time singularity, virtual spacetime, and magnetic field dynamics." After blending these elements and conducting countless experiments, the final form of the spectrum was created.

Dong Sheng personally led the effort, understanding the spectrum's characteristics better than anyone else. By utilizing tools and mediating mechanisms from this world, along with the undeniable fact of a supernatural invasion, he employed this method to attempt control over the Strange Space.

In fact, Dong Sheng's original hypothesis was that the Spacetime Atlas might still be inside the strange world following the laboratory explosion. Otherwise, it wouldn't have opened this one-way passage or allowed the supernatural entities to cross over into this world.

"Yes, I am indeed luckier than you!" Yan Junze nodded unapologetically.

"Since we can meet here, it seems we are still somewhat fated," Dong Sheng said, his tone tinged with an indescribable melancholy. "Papasa might already be dead at your hands, and Jeffrey has fled with the True Word Demon. Everything here is over. You can take your God of Death friends and continue hunting Jeffrey, maybe even seize the Book of Change. As for me, I just want to live a peaceful life from now on. Can't I?"

Although Dong Sheng didn't know why Yan Junze was with the same death gods who had attacked him, it was obvious that Yan Junze was also an exorcist. Just like him, Junze inhabited someone else's body and had his eyes on the Book of Change.

Yan Junze smiled faintly, then shook his head: "No, you can't."

"That's right, you can't," another voice suddenly interrupted.

Hearing this, Dong Sheng shuddered violently. He turned toward the source of the voice and saw Jeffrey holding the Book of Change, slowly approaching from the other end of the corridor.

"To save your own skin, you had the enemy hunt me down? Claudia, is this how you treat a friend?"

Judging from his tone, it seemed Jeffrey had just arrived and hadn't heard the earlier conversation between Yan Junze and Dong Sheng, which had left Lin Yishan utterly baffled.

Looking at Jeffrey as he approached, Dong Sheng's expression shifted, but he said nothing.

Originally, he thought Jeffrey had escaped into the darkness with the Book of Change during the chaos. Who could have expected that Jeffrey would circle back here, stealthily approaching Dong Sheng?

Yan Junze glanced at Jeffrey, then at the Book of Change in his arms, and said, "I thought you wouldn't come back."

After Lin Yishan had sided with Yan Junze, he had shared information about Jeffrey, indicating that although Jeffrey seemed to follow the commands of Claudia IX, he was, in truth, greedy, insidious, and deeply ambitious.

Based on this, Yan Junze had already suspected that after Jeffrey fled, he would take the opportunity to come back and act against Claudia. Seeing him here now, his guess was confirmed.

Jeffrey froze, staring at the unfamiliar young man. "You know me?" he asked suspiciously.

"No," Yan Junze shook his head.

"You know Claudia?" Jeffrey probed further.

"You could say we've met before," Yan Junze nodded.

Suddenly, Jeffrey broke into a smile. "Since you know her, then stay here with us."

With these words, he tossed the Book of Change from his arms while walking toward Yan Junze. At the same time, he uttered, "True Word Demon, kill Claudia!"

The thrown Book of Change didn't fall to the ground but instead floated midair. The pages flipped on their own, and a gray arm emerged from within.

At these words, Dong Sheng froze, his body trembling. With Papasa already gone, he no longer had the protection of this God of Death. Precisely because of this, the treacherous Jeffrey had chosen to return after fleeing, intending to kill him.

Jeffrey had initially thought that the other death god, Payne, would be here. Since he himself was also a death god and possessed the True Word Demon and Book of Change, dealing with them would have been just a matter of time.

But with Payne now missing as well, leaving only a seemingly weaker Yan Junze, the situation appeared even more favorable than Jeffrey had anticipated.

As for Lin Yishan, Jeffrey knew that this man's authority was shallow and was solely reliant on his connections with Payne and Claudia. If Jeffrey could kill Claudia, it would be easy to intimidate and bribe Lin Yishan afterward, forcing him to submit.

Lin Yishan was of no threat or consequence to Jeffrey.

However, just as Jeffrey approached Yan Junze, the latter suddenly vanished.

Jeffrey immediately looked around, unleashing his Reaper Forbidden Zone to envelop the surroundings.

No trace of Yan Junze was visible, nor was his presence detectable.

"What's going on?" Jeffrey muttered in confusion.

At the same moment, not far ahead in the clearing of the corridor, a familiar figure appeared. This person, looking entirely bewildered, was glancing around as if searching for something.

Upon closer inspection, it was the recently missing Payne.

When Dong Sheng noticed Payne's appearance, his eyes lit up, and he shouted, "Payne, kill Jeffrey! He's plotting to kill me!"

The two death gods exchanged glances, and in an instant, their Reaper Forbidden Zones clashed violently. Sparks of virtual imagery burst out like electric flowers. In the next second, however, the phenomena disappeared—Payne and Jeffrey were both gone.

The corridor fell into complete silence.

"Gone... gone again!?" Dong Sheng stood frozen in place, confusion flickering in his eyes. Gradually, a look of realization seemed to dawn on him as he turned toward Yan Junze.

But at this moment, there was no time for further reflection, as Sylvanus had completely crawled out of the Book of Change.
